Kit Fox RV Park, Patterson, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Not for light sleepers. Convient location with close restaurants. Since last time we stayed a huge warehouse complex built close by. The access road runs right next to the park. Lots of truck noise starting at 4 a.m. Few pull throughs, mostly permanent residents, but not junky. We camped at Kit Fox RV Park in a Motorhome.

RV Park at Rolling Hills Casino, Corning, California

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Good stop over spot on I-5. Level gravel sites with FHU. All pull throughs. Walk to casino or shuttle. Showers charge outrageous $4. Their water at site has funny taste. Use your own to make coffee. Fueling on site. Noise from trucks idling in their lot and I-5 road noise no problem. Casino buffet good. Would stay again. We camped at RV Park at Rolling Hills Casino in a Motorhome.

Spring Lake Park, Santa Rosa, California

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Dry Camping only. Some bad, some good equals average. Good: well-spaced sites, a few pull throughs paved. Restrooms and showers kind of gross, costs a buck and a half. Good set up for families and kids. Quiet. Tranquil setting with lake and flat, two mile hike around. In town, for easy access but feels like in country. If you can tolerate dry camping and use on board facilities this is a good bet. We camped at Spring Lake Park in a Motorhome.

Dutcher Creek RV Park and Campground, Cloverdale, California

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This is a combo park, mostly 5th wheel longer termers, but very well kept. Newer sites by the smallish pool paved level with nice views of the valley from 500 feet up for shorter stays. Switchback paved road getting up there, but don't fret. If I were a monster rig with tow car, I'd call the first to see if room for you. We made it easily in 32-footer. Very quiet and laid back CA wine country style. Would stay again. We camped at Dutcher Creek RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Weott, California

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at the Hidden Creek Campground, which is carved into a relatively steep hillside. Sites fairly close together. Everthing either uphill or downhill, not the best for fairly fit senior walkers like me. Trails poorly marked and no distances listed, just signs that say to this place or that. Never got a sense we were among the redwoods. We camped at Humboldt Redwoods State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bee sure you know which campground you are at and which exit to take off 101. Can be confusing. Not much signage until you are right on the CG turnoff.

Crescent City / Redwoods KOA, Crescent City, California

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty much a dusty field with FHU and a nice little forest walk attached. Was a bit of trick to level but we managed. Good for overnight or base of ops for Crescent City area. No pool, but kid recreation area. Would stay again. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Motorhome.

Shady Lane RV Camp, Barstow, California

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

An out-of-way place short distance off interstate. Gravel with concrete patio. Would be trouble for rigs over 32 esp. if towing. Good for overnight stopping place. Need advance res. because not much else around. We camped at Shady Lane RV Camp in a Motorhome.

Moabi Regional Park, Needles, California

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This place is also called Pirate Cove Resort and Marina. It is a county park, but run by Pirate cove folks. Big place. You want the peninsula sites right on Colorado river. FHU and a pod of 3-4 sites in each pod. They run on call shuttle back to main resort with restaurant, bar, store marina and concrete pads. We were in sand. Only draw back is windy, which for us was frequent and strong. We camped at Moabi Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Desert View RV Resort, Needles, California

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, clean smallish park with super friendly people. Appeared many seasonals, but all sites clean and well kept. Only one shower stall and one holer restroom. Bigger rigs over 32 may have problems maneuvering turns esp. if towing. Sites kind of narrow but well done with large oleander separating them. Not too much to do in area. Good for a couple days stopover. We camped at Desert View RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Your average park with a great majority of long timers/ permanents with rigs in varying states of repairs and attached plastic carports and other structures. Wouldn't stay more than a night. Some road noise. We camped at Valencia Travel Village in a Motorhome.

Fine for overnight stay when passing through. Sandy and breezy just like the rest of this part of CA along I-5. Truckstops right there for fueling, etc. Quiet enough for sitting outside and sleeping at night. We camped at Lost Hills RV Park (formerly Lost Hills Campground) in a Motorhome.

Short detour from I-5 but worth it. This is a combo RV park and marina on the San Joaquin River. Very nice, very quiet with excellent walking path along the levee. Good overnight place transiting this section of CA. We camped at RiverPoint Landing Marina Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

For walking path, you have to first leave park and pick it up just past yacht club on the right. A revolving steel gate.
