Oak Glen RV & Mobile Home Park, Chandler, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This was a hidden gem of a park. $22.00 Good Sam rate for overnight. Nice lady at the office and easy check in. Office was very clean as was the bathroom inside the office. They sold some camping supplies and a few food items including milk which is what we needed. The park was very quiet (especially for a Saturday night). There were trailers of people who live here year round - they were well maintained. We only saw people at one year round trailer and they were friendly. The overnight pull through section was great with great utilities. The overnight section filled up as the evening went on and not one of us unhitched so the sites were long enough for the biggest of rigs. We got 30 tv channels with just our antenna. The wifi was super. This one is on our list to stop when passing this way again. We camped at Oak Glen RV & Mobile Home Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rustic Acres RV Resort and Campground, Shippenville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We chose this park because it was listed as a Passport America park which allowed the weekend discount rate during the month of October. It is also an Escapees park which offers a 50% discount. The owner would not honor EITHER of them! It was very frustrating that I had it in writing from both PA & Escapees but she claimed they were 'wrong'. Getting into the park is a narrow turn and then down a VERY steep hill to get to the lower level where they put the weekenders and transients. The sites were so close together you could hear your neighbor sneeze inside of their trailer. No WiFi or antennae tv. We would probably not stay here again. We camped at Rustic Acres RV Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Blueberry Pond Campground, Pownal, Maine

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here at the last minute because of a tire blow out. We felt very lucky to have found this place. Our rate is based on Passport America. It is NOT stated on their site but they ONLY accept cash for PA discount. The owners were extremely helpful and very nice and accommodating. They even let us use their compressor to fill up our tires on the way out. The place is off the beaten path in a wooded area. The only reason for giving a 9 rating is because some of the roads in the park (to get to the dump station) are a bit tight with too many tree limbs for our liking. The WiFi was good. We would definitely stay here again. The pool was closed for the season so we didn't get to use it. We camped at Blueberry Pond Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

New Lisbon Family Campground, Straughn, Indiana

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 3 nights. We were passing through and needed a place to stay for a few days. It was a cheap place with Passport America. The park staff is nice, the seasonal residents are very friendly. The highway noise was loud day and night! The place was very active on the weekend but quiet times were observed. WiFi was very good. TV antenna reception was good. The transient sites were out in an open field with a little lake. No picnic table or fire ring. We would stay here again if passing through the area because it was cheap and the park was easy to navigate. We camped at New Lisbon Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Country Acres Campground, Ravenna, Ohio

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here for 5 nights right before they closed for the season. It was so quiet and peaceful. Yes, there are lots of seasonals but that is how they make their money. Yes, the transient (over nighters) sites are close together but it was still one of the most enjoyable stays we have had. There is a beautiful lake on the property. During the season it is obvious that they have lots of activities and things to do for families (pool, jump pillow, paddle boats, horse shoes, movies, etc.). We prefer the no kids, relaxed atmosphere which is exactly what we got. The owners are so nice and treated us as friends from the moment we got there. An important thing for DH is that the park is VERY easy to get around in for a big rig (we are 35 feet). All of the transient spots are pull through. The only negative was there are pecan trees over some of the campsites. They are very loud when they fall but after I realized they caused no damage it almost became comical when they fell. The WiFi was very good. TV antennae reception was great. If we were ever coming back this way we would definitely make a point to stay here. We camped at Country Acres Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Oakleaf Family Campground, Chepachet, Rhode Island

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Owners seemed less than thrilled to have us there. We are full-timers and move frequently. We think we are ideal campers (no kids, no dogs, quiet, no parties, etc.). It was very strange, we felt like we were always being 'watched' so they could tell us we were doing something wrong. They did tell us we were driving too fast but it was hard for us to believe because the roads were dirt and uneven with rocks so who would drive fast?? We were in a back in spot that was very hard to maneuver around all the tree limbs. They say they are big rig friendly but we felt it was very tight for our 35 ft. rig. Turning corners was a major effort have to back up to miss large boulders on one side and tree limbs on the other. We did have a very nice fire pit. The dump station is very hard to get to and is on the wrong side for most RVs. We won't be going back here. We camped at Oakleaf Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

White Birches Camping Resort, Shelburne, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Wonderful RV park with easy in and out access. Nice accessible sites. Lots of hiking trails on the property. We were in a large pull-through in the transient area up front. We walked around the property and found lots of accessible wooded sites with lots of privacy. We have a 35 foot 5th wheel and would have easily fit in some of those sites. They even own property across the highway that has lots of marked trails with a river and lots of beaver activity. The fire pit was great. No TV reception but OK WiFi. We camped at White Birches Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Wolf's Den Family Campground, East Haddam, Connecticut

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We loved everything about Wolf's Den except the tight roads within the park. It was a lovely wooded campground with a kind of state park feel. The weekend was busy but during the week it was very quiet. We loved that it was very convenient to a lot of area attractions - it provided a good home base. We loved coming back in the late afternoon and taking a dip in the well maintained pool. Good cable TV. Dump station was a little inconvenient. Had to put $10 cash deposit down on gate card. We forgot to return it when we left but mailed it back to them and they mailed us a check. We camped at Wolf's Den Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Mill Dam Lake RV Park, Silver Springs, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Just a warning to others....... Their website is VERY misleading. We needed a place to stay for a month in Central Florida. We called from the previous campground that we'd been staying at to see if they had availability. The lady on the phone said "we only have one left". Since the campground that was our first choice was already full we went ahead and booked it. She wanted our credit card over the phone. I know better than paying for a site before seen but she said it was the last one! So I gave her the credit card number which she said would be charged that day. (Absolutely no refunds)

This could be a very long story but I will cut to the chase and comment on discrepancies with their website.

Concrete pads - I don't see any. We are parked on grass that sinks when it rains.

Restaurant- There is no restaurant on site much less that delivers. There is a mini mart at the entrance. Don't expect to get your milk and bread there, but if it's beer and soda you are after you are in luck!

Beach/Swimming footsteps from your site - There is no beach on the property. There is no water that you can swim in on property unless you don't mind swimming with alligators! There is a beach that you can see from the property but you need a vehicle to get there. It is part of the National Forest system so you have to pay fees to get in.

Laundry - Yes, there is a laundry "onsite" but it sits facing State Highway 40 and has a big sign with the hours written on it (the hours on the sign are incorrect) so it is open to the public. There is only COLD water wash available.

Boats and jet ski rental (As described on the Passport America site under 'highlights') - None.

Don't bother sending an email inquiry as their website suggests. I never did get a response. I also would caution you to NOT get anything of importance sent to you here via mail. We never did get the FedEx "overnight" envelope that was sent to us. Everybody that we met that was staying here was very nice. We camped at Mill Dam Lake RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Shady Acres Campground, Mobile, Alabama

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older park with a few permanent residents. It is run by the man that grew up on the property. Very nice man. This is a no frills park. The other guests did not interact much but were not rude. The location was so convenient to downtown Mobile and anywhere else that you would want to go around the Gulf Coast. We spent a month here and loved it. It had lots of trees and a lake so it reminded us more of a state park than an RV park in a city. The price was unbeatable also! We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Downtown Mobile has lots to offer and doesn't cost a lot. The little towns around the Gulf also had some nice qualities and character.
