Louisville South KOA, Shepherdsville, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

Good access to Louisville. Interior roads pretty poor - maybe because of recent heavy rains? Seemed to be a high number of long-termers, which gave areas of the park a very crowded feel. We felt the park wasn't worth the cost, even though we knew that going in. We might feel different if we had kids. We camped at Louisville South KOA in a Motorhome.

Elkhorn Campground, Frankfort, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a popular park for families who live relatively close by. We stopped for one night (Saturday) and the park was packed. It may feel less cramped during the week. We didn't use the pool, but it was VERY popular with the families! There was no dedicated dog park and the designated area to walk them isn't very convenient (basically a grassy narrow shoulder on the road leading into the park). The interior roads are tight, making parking and leaving somewhat challenging. That situation is made more difficult by the number of campers who were parking multiple vehicles on their site. We camped at Elkhorn Campground in a Motorhome.

White Acres Campground, Bardstown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a work in process. Management's efforts to improve the sites and roads are readily apparent and we feel the park has great potential. Our site was excellent, though many others are in need of attention - and staff was working on those sites and the internal road during our visit. The park is very convenient to Bardstown and all its attractions. We camped at White Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Renfro Valley RV Park, Mount Vernon, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The rv park left a lot to be desired. There was no onsite management or security of any kind. You're basically in a field near a tourist attraction. It is as close as we could find to Berea, which is a great town to visit, but next time I think we'll look for an alternative. We camped at Renfro Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Singing Hills RV Park & Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The park was booked solid when we made our reservation but the manager offered us the "barn site" which turned out to be a little quirky but preferable to the regular sites. It was just off the main loop, so there was more privacy and distance from our neighbors. The site was long enough for the rv with adjacent parking for the toad and surprisingly level. Though there is no dedicated dog area, there is abundant greenspace for walking them and letting them romp. We camped at Singing Hills RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Spring Lake RV Resort, Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park in all regards. We did not have a lake site, but the view of the lake from our back-in space across the road was enjoyable. Our site was level and roomy. We had one minor issue involving what appeared to be an aggressive dog and its unconcerned owner. When I brought the situation to the manager's attention, he dealt with it immediately. There is no dedicated dog park, but ample grassy areas to walk them on a leash. Just be careful not to disturb the mallard and wood duck mamas and their ducklings! We camped at Spring Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Two Rivers Landing RV Resort, Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small, immaculate park and a perfect place for adults who want a beautiful and quiet setting. The riverside lots are reserved for Class A motorhomes, which are parked facing the river, so the view is gorgeous. Only about 20 feet of lawn and nicely spaced leafy trees separate the front of your coach from the river's edge. Because the riverbank is steep and the current is brisk, this park, in our opinion, is much better suited to adults than to children. Wildlife watching from your front yard is wonderful: bald eagles, great blue herons, rufous-sided towhees, swallows, robins, and deer were in abundant supply and very entertaining. Even though you are just a couple of blocks from the often heavy traffic and tourist attractions, you can neither see nor hear them from the park. Coffee and donuts are available in the office every morning and a wonderful deli offering excellent pastries and sandwiches is a short walk away. The drive to Great Smoky Mountains National Park is about an hour, and it is possible to bypass much of the Pigeon Forge congestion. The sites are pristine concrete and the hookups are convenient. Though you are pretty close to your neighbors, the angle of the sites and the hedges separating them provide an acceptable sense of privacy. Both the dog area and dumpster shelter are clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful. We camped at Two Rivers Landing RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Sharon Johnston Park, New Market, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This park is an absolute jewel! It's about a 30-minute drive to the Space and Rocket Center. Pristine setting with just about everything you would want for a peaceful few days. There are walking trails, a swimming pool, ball fields, a fishing pond and acres of beautiful open space. One of the prettiest parks we've found. We camped at Sharon Johnston Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We felt the Space and Rocket Center was overpriced and somewhat schizophrenic: We couldn't decide if it was trying to be a kids theme park or a science/history venue. It didn't help that during our visit the main exhibition area was closed.

Tiffin Motorhomes Service Area (For Service Customers Only), Red Bay, Alabama

It's all pretty much been said. If you're visiting Red Bay for Tiffin service, it's the place to stay. No frills, but good power and water. And if you take the Tiffin factory tour, which is very good - up close and personal - you get one night free camping. Check out the list Tiffin provides of their service techs who are available to provide service after hours. These are the same guys who will otherwise be working on your rigs in the service bays when it is finally your turn. Depending on what you need, the work may be done in an area adjacent to the service facility or elsewhere offsite.

Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

We love this park! It's right on the bank of the Mississippi River with amazing scenes of passing riverboats and tugs pushing 20 and more barges up and down the river literally right in front of you. The Memphis skyline is also in view. There is a huge grassy field in the middle of the park that is perfect for the dogs and ample other areas to walk them. The staff is helpful and friendly. We didn't try the wifi - used our hotspot. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

River Town Campground, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

OK park, and we'd stay there again mainly because of its convenience to Vicksburg. The major issue we had was the large gravel they use for the interior roads. It was awkward awkward enough for a human to walk on, and obviously uncomfortable for our medium-sized dog. With no interior trails or paths, the roads were the only option other than intruding on others' sites. We camped at River Town Campground in a Motorhome.

Forks of the Road in Natchez is the location of the 2nd largest slave market in the US. It's just empty ground now with a few informational signs and a closed business across the street. But the power of the place is overwhelming.
