Gulf Waters RV Resort, Port Aransas, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $950.00
Overall Rating:

Gulf Waters is a lovely RV park. Clean, nice sized sites with palm trees and nice landscaping. Lots of the sites are on ponds. The boardwalk to the beach is new and well maintained. The beach is beautiful. From looking around this is the nicest spot on the island and worth the money. The rate quoted is for a month. Most of the spots have patio tables. The WiFi was excellent as well as the cell coverage. The staff was friendly and helpful. They are in the process of building a rec hall and bathrooms with showers. This park has mostly retirees. Very safe and well lit. We will definitely go back. We camped at Gulf Waters RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Driving to a discount grocery store like HEB is a hike...20 plus miles but the IGA in Port Aransas has most of what you need. No worries about taking the ferry from Port Aransas to Aransas Pass as it accommodates all rigs and is free. It can be very busy during spring break though. Lots of really good places to eat in both Port Aransas and Corpus Christi.

Medina Highpoint Resort (Formerly Koyote Ranch), Medina, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $350.00
Overall Rating:

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Very nice people and nice, smaller campground. February was pretty quiet with not all the sites full and very few in the cabins. Mostly retirees with a lot of motorcycles but very quiet. The rec room has frequent activities if you're interested. The grill is very good with a nice catfish fry on Fridays and really good pizza on Saturday that they will bring to your camper. The pool area is very clean. Beautiful scenery and a nice rugged trail to walk. It would be nice if the store had some staples like milk and bread but it does have wine and beer. They pick up garbage a couple of times a day which is really nice. The laundry facilities are small, only four washers and dryers and when we were there one of the washers didn't work. There is a nice big laundromat in Kerrville which is what we chose to do. Happy hours happen almost overnight and everyone is very welcoming. Great motorcycling in the area. We will definitely go back. We camped at Medina Highpoint Resort (Formerly Koyote Ranch) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Medina has a couple of very good restaurants with super breakfasts. Bandar is a fun town as well as Fredericksburg.
