Campgrounds of the South, Gulfport, Mississippi

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

VERY noisey. Poorly drained, $100 deposit for cable. Pads, old cracked concrete, but fairly level. Airport near by and I 10 directly adjacent. Clean and cheap. Wifi is so poor you won't use it. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Roads are tight. I probably wouldn't stay here again. I'm worth another $10. For a quiet, grassy, dry campground. It's not terrible and if funds are tight I understand, but to be honest , I'd rather spend more, get better. With that said, it clean and cheap.

Western Village RV Park, Carlisle, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We had a pull thru, it was fairly level, and clean. The staff was great. The roads are wide enough, lots of trees. I'd stay again, but it's a little pricey at $44.

The pull thru's were a bit close together, but I think this was the overnight area. The rest of the park was spaced out better. We camped at Western Village RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Whip O Will Campsite, Round Top, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 4 days. I'm a very experienced driver, and I'm telling you its TIGHT. Trees are good, but there are too many, too close. A 37 ft. 5th wheel is a challenge, but doable . No signal, no WiFi, no cable. Seasonal campers make the place look messy. Some campers were untouched for years, and we're growing into the ground. The pool is great, big and clean. Store was nice, also a game room, b-ball court, playground, all good. There was litter around, golf carts aplenty . With all that said, everyone was friendly, it was quiet at night. It wasn't busy when we were there. It's definitely not a "camping" experience, but it worked for us, and given the proximity to our grandchildren, we'll probably be back. The lake is great, and largely unused. I suspect there are enough fish to keep you happy. Catch/release . Kids and early teens, will have a great time here. All things considered, it's not terrible, but definitely not great. We camped at Whip O Will Campsite in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Windham is about 20 min. away. Other than that not a tourist area, but still it's in the Catskills, so very woodsy with several walking trails. Food shopping, restaurants, etc. is 30-40 min. away.

Tyler State Park, Tyler, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The rate shown is $20/night, but there's a fee of $5 per person, per night. I didn't care for that, but the park is nice. The sights are spaced well, with a picnic table, fire pit, and lantern hanger. The surrounding grounds, trails , lake, store, boat rental was all very nice. The Rangers are very friendly. The lake is about 50ac. And stocked well . We'd stay again gladly. Nice park, we'll be back We camped at Tyler State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Good fishing with 2 piers, 3 types of boats, camp store was inadequate with mostly souvenirs, but a convenience store is right across from the entry.

5 Star RV Park, Tyler, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

I'm not sure what the other reviewers saw, but it wasn't what I saw. No trees, sites were parking lot style and close. Most of the park is dirt. There are several full time residents with "stuff" outside giving the place an unkempt appearance. the owner seemed nice enough, but the area is very low income and shabby. There's a rodeo across the road which could be a noise maker and I understand there's a gun range nearby. We're not "Fuddy dutties", but it's just not an attractive place. We moved on. We camped at 5 Star RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
