Ho-Hum RV Park, Carrabelle, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Laid back atmosphere throughout the park. GREAT VALUE and resort feel if you have a beachfront site. If you have an interior site in Tier C, like we did, it has the feel of a parking lot. We were the 2nd site off the main road and Thursday and Friday nights the road noise was awful (lots of fishermen pulling boats)- thank goodness those were our last two nights (Sunday-Wednesday did not notice road noise). We did have a water view by pulling our chairs behind our TT out in the interior road. Laundry room was clean. Great location for day trips to Apalachicola, St George Island, etc. Would return if I could get a tier A or B site AND didn't have grandchildren with me. We camped at Ho-Hum RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Crossroads RV Park, Mount Pleasant, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Easy on/off interstate. We made reservation (for their last open site) early afternoon. Pulled in right at dark (our site info was on the door) and left early morning, so just hooked up W/E which both worked fine. Spaces were close but plenty of room for slides. Road noise not a factor. I did hear lots of birds singing in the morning. Would return if in the area again. We camped at Crossroads RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hinton RV Park, Sikeston, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Easy on/off I-55. Easy to maneuver around the park in our 37'MH. The sites were well manicured and clean. Although we were close to I-55 and just 4 sites off the main road, road noise was not a problem. Friendly staff with escort to your site. W/E/S worked fine. Didn't try WiFi. This park is located half way between Memphis and St Louis. We would return. We camped at Hinton RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cardinal Ridge Farm RV, Franklin, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

If you want to feel like you are staying on "your own mountain" this is the RV park for you!! Beautiful views from your site. The owners live just "up the mountain" and take such good care of the facilities and sites. All areas very clean. The owners make you feel at home with special touches like flowers at your site, personalized welcome sign. We stayed in one of the lower sites which had great views of a nearby mountain ridge. Our site was close to the laundry which was clean, comfortable, and free. There are plenty of walking / hiking trails on site. The RV park is also in a great location for day trips to waterfalls, hiking, small town shopping, etc. No bathroom facilities or kid friendly amenities but those items are not things that are important to us. Restaurants, Big box store, and grocery within 15 minutes. Will definitely return. We camped at Cardinal Ridge Farm RV in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The owner is very knowledgeable of the area and will gladly give you suggestions on the "must see" sites. We did several loops of waterfalls that are easy walks. You are close to several entrance points of Appalachian Trail (great photo op for those of us who can't hike very far). Recommend day trip to the Highlands and Clayton, GA.

Mississippi Horse Park, Starkville, Mississippi

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is our 2nd year to use this facility when attending football games. The facility is only open for horse events and football weekends. The rate for football weekends is a flat $125. You can arrive as early as 8am on Thursday and must depart by 11am Sunday. Water and 30/50 amp available. Shower and toilets available, rated good by the men in our group. Dump station available. This is a great facility for football weekends if you like the idea of a 3 day tailgate. There is no shade or privacy, just a big gravel parking lot filled with lots of mostly friendly people. Reservations can easily be made on-line usually starting in July for the football season. All the staff are super friendly and efficient!! The shuttle to campus runs several hours before and after the game and is included in the rate. Only con: not open during basketball and baseball season. We camped at Mississippi Horse Park in a Travel Trailer.

Big Meadow Family Campground, Townsend, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Location was excellent for access to the National Park (especially Cades Cove) and river tubing, with nice grocery and local restaurants nearby. Campground very clean and manicured. Space between sites was good (spaces might feel tighter when the campground is full) with plenty of room for a family of 4 adults and 2 small dogs to cook, eat, and sit around talking. No problems with water pressure or electrical service. Good walking areas for dogs, with bags provided. My only concern was the locked gate from 11pm - 7am (no exit or entrance). I specifically asked about this at check-in (after reading other reviews) thinking surely the gate worked with the code. I was told no. When I asked what if we have a medical emergency, I was told to call 911 and they can get in. I asked about leaving earlier than 7am to go see bears in Cades cove. I was told someone is usually in the office between 6:30-6:45 or we could leave a vehicle outside the gate. I do appreciate the security and the secure feeling I had while staying here, but this situation was a little intimidating. Otherwise, great campground and we will return. We camped at Big Meadow Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Pine Lake RV Campground, Bishop, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Very convenient to Athens (big box store, drug stores, restaurants) and Monroe (we were attending a wedding in Monroe). The grounds were clean and well-maintained. Lots of trees for shade - reminded us of a state park. We did have a problem with electrical, but staff responded quickly and got us moved. No problems with hookups, water, electrical after the move. We didn't even get our chairs out because we had so many wedding activities so don't remember the outdoor space but did enjoy hearing the rooster crowing across the road while walking my dog. We camped at Pine Lake RV Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground, Swannanoa, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Very convenient access off interstate, with no road noise. We had no trouble pulling our 32' TT. You do go through a residential area but keep going, the entrance is just ahead on the left - but be careful of that blind left turn into the park -Thank goodness it is not a busy road. Very clean and well manicured grounds. No problems with hookups, water, electrical or cable. We were in the middle section site 24 which had partial shade, mountain views in the distance, privacy - since there are only 5 sites in this section, and lots of people watching - all rv's come by on the way to the top section and you are overlooking the lower section. Nice dog park and bags conveniently placed throughout the grounds. Very convenient to grocery, gas, restaurants, and The Blue Ridge Parkway. We will definitely return. We camped at Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Topsail Hill State Preserve, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is our 2nd visit. This is a very nice state park with lots of shade and lots of sites are in pods which would be good for family/friends camping together with lots of green space for gathering. Most sites have decent space between others and some are very private. Lots paved roads for walking and biking. For us the cons are: The beach access - you must take the tram (or walk or bike -and it is a good ways) and once at the beach access it is a long walk on the boardwalk - no steps though, all ramps. Park is on the very west end of Hwy 30A so Seaside, Watercolor, Grayton are not really accessible by bike. But we would return and recommend to others. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Travel Trailer.

Grayton Beach State Park, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This is actually our 3rd visit to this state park We love the old Florida natural feel, shade, and privacy of the old section (our first 2 visits were in the old section), but need the full-hookups convenience of the new section this visit. The beach access is excellent (bike or drive over). Access to the little towns along Hwy 30A is also a short bike ride or drive away. The space between sites is good. The shade in the new section is limited. We camped at Grayton Beach State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pensacola Beach RV Resort, Gulf Breeze, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $86.00
Overall Rating:

Pros: very, very clean, manicured sites, easy accessibility inside resort, pet friendly - doggie bags available.

Cons: Sites are too close together. Your outside area is right next to your neighbors sewer hose. This was our first resort visit, previously we had stayed at state parks. When we got to our site (a deluxe site at that) I thought this must be a mistake - we will be sitting right by the neighbors sewer hose. At our site #53, noise/music from club next door very loud until 2am. Was told it was just because of spring break, but I saw other reviews later that complained of the same thing. Would definitely ask for other end of the resort. You can not request a specific site - just a specific type. This is not a gulf-front resort, and the beach is just a spot with some sand-mostly rocks, wood, glass. Please clean and add more sand.

While the sites are expensive for the small size, we would return if in the area again. We camped at Pensacola Beach RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
