Clarkco State Park, Quitman, Mississippi

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed over Memorial Day Weekend. The park was packed this weekend. The park is very clean and the restrooms/showers were very nice and clean. The lake is beautiful and there is a boat launch, swimming area, tennis courts, disc golf and kids playground. The camp sites are pretty tight to get into. The one we had was one that was more wide open without trees right next to the pad. The pads in the first 2 loops are asphalt with some big drop offs from the asphalt to the ground and there were some with big drop offs around the sides of the pad and some that were not level. The loop where we were (site 39) was newer and had concrete pads and all seemed pretty level. The sites are somewhat close together and there are quite a few big trees next to the road so bigger rigs/motorhomes were having problems getting backed into their sites. Our trailer is about 27' total length and there was no room for our truck to park in front of it. Because of that most vehicles were parked to the sides of the lots which made it tighter to get through. There was a nice grill, fire ring and picnic table with gravel around it and we had power, water and sewer at the site. There was also a dump station in the park. There were lots of kids there that weekend but everyone did adhere to the quiet time from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. There are no generators allowed. We camped at Clarkco State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Not much to do in the area. There was a smaller grocery store in Quitman about 5 miles down the road. I also saw a couple of dollar stores, Hardees and McDonalds in the town.

Service Park Campground COE, Coffeeville, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We chose this campground for our 1st ever camping trip with our new travel trailer. Our campsite was a pull through site on the Tombigbee river. The sites there are very spacious and have a good bit of room between them. Most sites on the river are pull through with back in sites across from them. The park is extremely clean and well kept with a playground for the kids, bathrooms with showers and a laundry room. There were even a few books and DVD's to borrow. We camped at Service Park Campground COE in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This campsite is secluded and only a very small (old) grocery store in Coffeeville a few miles down the road and a couple of gas station stores. No real options for eating out without driving into Jackson, AL so it is best to bring all your groceries and plan to eat there at the park.
