Manistique Lakeshore Campground, Manistique, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The park is very nice. There is a large sign directing you in, a big help while getting off a two lane busy road. The park should be a model for parks, with paved roads, cement parking pads, great utilities, excellent water pressure, and plenty of space in sites. A negative for our site 16 was the front of site faces sand dunes, with highway on the other side, and an obnoxious street light that lights up campsite. A fact of RVing is plans change. Most parks either allow for free modifications or cancellations or charge a minimal fee. This park charges you one day's fee, $40, for changes any time after you reserve. We made changes months prior to our visit, so we know. I would have made a second change, but just decided if I needed to leave a day early, no reason to tell anyone as I would get charged no matter what. It is a very popular park, and I did note the days I canx. were filled almost immediately, resulting in a double payment for the park. We camped at Manistique Lakeshore Campground in a Motorhome.

Indian River RV Resort & Campground, Indian River, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This is very much a Campground, reminding us of State campgrounds, but with amenities. Sites themselves were spacious; roads were tight but entirely navigable. The couple who own and run the park were amazing! They both worked very hard to get us checked in then escorted to our site. The park was super clean. Trash was emptied constantly, restrooms were spotless, and grounds attended to. The pool was was clean and deck furniture in great condition. Utilities were fine. We had no electrical issues and water pressure was good, less than some parks-better than others. Due to scheduling conflicts, we had to adjust our reservations a number of times. Each time the owners were very accommodating. We camped at Indian River RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Falcon Meadow Campground, Falcon, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here 4 years ago, little has changed. The owner is nice and helpful, and the park has a beautiful location. The park needs work. Interior roads are very rough. Sites seem hap-hazard, are just sprinkled all over. Utilities were good, but in some what disrepair. While our large site looked over a beautiful meadow/field west, many sites did not have much view or room. We camped at Falcon Meadow Campground in a Motorhome.

If you run into RV issues, a new repair/parts place is across the road. Premier RV. Bryan and the rest of the staff are very helpful.

Fisherman's Corner COE, Hampton, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Quite accidentally, we found this park. Even though it had electric only, it was wonderful! There are water spigots near by to fill up with and a dump station. Restrooms/showers are in very good order. The park sits right on the Mississippi River. It is super clean, with great interior roads, large cement pads, with fire pits and picnic tables. We camped at Fisherman's Corner COE in a Motorhome.

Pine Grove RV Park and Campground, Greenwood, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We spent 3 nights in mid July. The park was clean and well laid out, with most sites being good size with a nice amount of lawn. Sites had picnic tables and full utilities. The sewer connection was un-threaded, a major inconvenience, but water pressure and electrical were fine. You are camped near I-80, but the park sits back from the highway and road noise was negligible. There is a great amount of open-community lawn. There is a camp store, restaurant and bar which we did not use. Their pool is truly sparkling clean, 9 feet deep at one end, and there is music playing, very relaxing. There was even a bouncy house for the kids. A shuffle board court is near the pool area but completely useless, with cracks and uneven surface. We were put-off by the seeming extensive amount of rules which included many signs. The interior roads had speed bumps, which to us seemed unneeded because the condition of the roads was enough to keep you from moving too quickly, a bit bumpy, with degraded asphalt. There were a number of permanent residents, but all seemed in good condition. We camped at Pine Grove RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Rovers RV Park (formerly Chinook RV Park), Waldport, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small park, 32 sites. It is a couple of miles off the coast, so the weather tends to be much better. You have direct access to the Alsea river, a beautiful area that ebbs and flows with the tides, and host a variety of wildlife. Facilities are limited, but adequate for the size of the park. We used the laundry a number of times. The owners/hosts are amazing: polite, friendly, very helpful. Our gas grill stopped working and Ben the owner attempted to assist fixing it. When that didn't work, he went to his shed and got out a grill for us to borrow. The only downside to our visit was very low water pressure, which I expect is a regional issue. We camped at Rovers RV Park (formerly Chinook RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Armitage Park , Eugene, Oregon

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We camped in an RV with full hookups, including very good WiFi and Cable. This extremely spacious County park is the first of its kind we have stayed at. It marvels many of the RV parks we have been too, surpassing a number of them. The entire time we stayed the park was full. Despite that, it was very quiet. Staff were courteous and on top of things, while at the same time being very unobtrusive. There is a great laundry, and the showers and restrooms are fine. We camped at Armitage Park in a Motorhome.

Lakeside Casino & RV Park , Pahrump, Nevada

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here a number of times in our RV with friends. Those trips have always been pleasant. This trip was different. We checked in and opted to use a BOGO offer of pay one night get 2 free; the offer was listed on their site. Considering the recent rise in fees at this park, that was a good thing. Our friends checked in an hour later and were denied the use of the BOGO! While touting their 10-10-10 rating from Good Sam, they have let the park fall into disrepair. Facilities didn't seem as well kept, and exterior grounds included a lot of dead grass. Our departure was delayed because we lost all water pressure in the morning. My wife had to scramble out of an unfinished shower in the RV, and I had to deal with not being able to flush my sewer hoses or properly clean the RV. The office told us it was scheduled maintenance. No warnings were given. We camped at Lakeside Casino & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Clarify any discounts when you book. Fees have risen above what we consider reasonable for the park and area. There was a sign in the office stating they no longer book site specific as they have up till now.

Wine Country RV Resort, Paso Robles, California

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here based on tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. The park is spacious, spotlessly clean and grounds well-manicured. This is a very "dog" friendly park.

We went with a group of 4 RVers. They placed us next to each other, on cement pads, with a good bit of grass to lounge on. Among the many features was a wooden partition covering the view of the utilities of the RV parked next, nice not to be looking at someone's sewage drain hose. Water pressure was better than we had ever experience, and we had no issues with power hookups.

WIFI was very good!

The facilities were the best! Bathrooms were in great shape, very clean, and had a lot of space. Showers in particular were very nice. There is an adult only spa sitting on top of a hill, with a large gas fire pit. The spa was huge and secluded from view of the rest of the part, very nice. While we did not use the pool facilities, we could see others enjoying themselves. The pool was plenty large and well suited for families.

The desk staff was very polite and extremely helpful. Among other things, they provided a list of wineries, complete with various discounts to tastings. They knew the area and were full of good advice.

The park provides a number of dog run enclosures. There are disposal bags in a good number of places. Clearly they are very dog friendly. FYI: CA state parks are not dog friendly. We went to 3 and all had signs, "No Dogs allowed!" Their websites did not have this information. After a 40 minuted drive with our pup, we had to find alternative activities.

We are already looking forward to our next visit. We camped at Wine Country RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Sites 109 through 91 have more road noise, not terrible though. Sites 52 through 90 back up to the nearby vineyard. Some of the sites share a common area with 4 tables, great for large groups.

Wine! The office will help you figure out where to go. Also, great breweries in the area.

Shady Lane RV Camp, Barstow, California

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The owner is a bit quirky, but very nice and helpful. There is not much in the way of places to stop in this area, and this is likely the better choice to overnight.

That being said, especially considering the price, this place is a bit run down. There are really no amenities to speak of. It is all gravel, well maintained, but spots are kind of hap-hazard and small. The bathrooms were clean, but need a major face lift. Utility hookups work find, but water pressure was not the best. We camped at Shady Lane RV Camp in a Motorhome.
