Compass RV Park (formerly Indian Forest Campground), St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

The staff contacts us prior to our arrival twice to confirm our stay and arrival time. On arrival check-in was accomplished without leaving our vehicle. We were escorted to our site (6) and assisted in backing our rig.

While we had other plans there was live entertainment both Friday night and New Year's eve. The staff was pleasant and helpful. WiFi is widely available with many AP's and strong signals. There are 2 secure access vehicle gates controlling vehicular access via a provided barcodes pass ticket.

We enjoyed our stay and would camp here again. We camped at Compass RV Park (formerly Indian Forest Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Gettysburg Campground, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for the 5TH annual Mid-Atlantic Titanium Rally. We always enjoy our stay here. On Saturday an Amish vendor tours the park in the afternoon with vegetables and pastries for the campers to purchase.. The staff is easy going and quite helpful. A honey wagon makes the rounds daily to evacuate the holding tanks of campers in need for $8.00. There is much to do in the area with countless attractions, tours, & historic sites to choose from. We camped at Gettysburg Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Horseshoe Bend Campground, Lovell, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

There are improved sites with electric and water, improved sites that are dry, & smaller sites also dry. They are mostly backin. During our stay several sites had 2 camping units per site & enforcement seems spotty. There are no clear limits posted but the units were supposed to be within the assigned area. Boats, vehicles, and camp trailers were parked in the adjacent scrub without issue. These issues noted, we enjoyed our stay. Water and electric were flawless during our stay in site A9. We camped at Horseshoe Bend Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We came here to see and film the wild mustangs and were not disappointed. Big horn sheep were also easily found most days. There is a lake cruise available at the landing/boat launch. Fishing and water sports seem to be the primary attraction here.

Mammoth Campground (NPS Campground), Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here 4 nights and are happy campers. We were visited by the elk herd 3 times during our stay. The days were warm, nights quite cool never used the A/C did use the heat in the AM to take the edge off. This is a first come first serve campground and the sites usually are full by noon. The booking shack opens @ 8AM. The line starts to form much earlier than that however. We arrived @ 10:30AM on a Saturday and got one of the last remaining sites. The roads are narrow so care must be exercised. There were all class units seen during our stay HDT & MDT May be iffy due to height. Our 13' 1" unit came through unscathed. This is a great location to tour the upper portion of Yellowstone National Park. There can be a faint sulfur odor depending on wind direction. We would stay here again. We camped at Mammoth Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Samoa Boat Ramp, County Park Campground, Eureka, California

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This facility is an open lot laid out in numbered sites. A fire ring is available at perimeter sites, picnic tables along the western side. These are not available in the central sides. No camping along the eastern waterfront.

This facility sees a lot of turnover and is busy during the day when the salmon are running. There are many 4 wheeler campers and day users. It is quiet at night though. We would stay here again. We camped at Samoa Boat Ramp, County Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Alpine Meadow COE, Truckee, California

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here 3 nights. There is aircraft activity but it is not intrusive. They use an electronic ranger to perform registration that accepts cash, credit/debit cards, & nations park passes for discounts. With our discount (America the Beautiful) we paid $10.00 per night. The campground host was quite helpful in pointing out area attractions and points of interest. This is a delightful location, we would stay here again. We camped at Alpine Meadow COE in a Fifth Wheel.

A trip to lake Tahoe is a must if you leave early a drive all the way around would be a great way to spend a day. There is a glider operation at the airport with several towing takeoffs daily. The lake is peaceful with plenty of wildlife to observe and photograph.

Canyon Rims Recreation Area, Windwhistle Campground, Monticello, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a BLM campground with an iron ranger to accept registration fees. It is quiet and little used, we stayed here 3 nights. The first night July 2nd we were alone. The location is beautiful and breezy. The toilets (3) are pit type with a drinking water spigot & fountain outside the main one. This a great place to decompress. We would stay here again. We camped at Canyon Rims Recreation Area, Windwhistle Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Cheyenne Mountain State Park, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second stay 2009 was our previous visit. We love the campground, located on the east slope of Cheyenne Mountain overlooking Colorado Springs. The Fort Carson gate is directly across the street from the entrance. The park's reservation policy left several sites unoccupied though reserved. Several campers were turned away due to a full campground. The shower in our loop was fee based, $1.00 (quarters) for 4 minutes of ice cold water, this was our only disappointment. We arrived early with no reservation and got a site. We camped at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Laura Ingalls Wilder RV Park and Campground, Mansfield, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here 9 & 10 June 2016 in a fifth wheel. This is a quaint country campground. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. There are several long term residents. We were in site 2 with full hookups. We paid $30.00 per night for the site with 30 amp service. The restroom & shower facilities were adequate. No WiFi & Verizon was weak 3G mostly. We would stay here again. We camped at Laura Ingalls Wilder RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Starlite Camping Resort, Stevens, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful. This campground was convenient to local attractions for the usual services. Both the laundry and bath-house were clean and adequately maintained. Quite a walk for laundry. The park filled to near capacity over the weekend & was still quiet & friendly. We would suggest the plateau area for the view & nice evening breeze. There was entertainment in the entrance Saturday evening (One man band). We would return here in the future. We stayed 4 days. Our daily rate was $40 with a $3.00 fee for A.C. use per day. We camped at Starlite Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful. This campground was convenient to Arcadia NP, Schoodic, Deer Island, & Elsworth for the usual services. Both the laundry and bath-house were clean and adequately maintained. Quite a walk for both. The fee for the machines was a bit steep @ $2.50. The park filled to near capacity over the weekend and was still quiet and & friendly. There was entertainment in the pavilion Saturday evening. We were able to pull in two over the air TV stations. We would return here in the future. We stayed 1 week. Our daily rate was based on military discount. We camped at Timberland Acres RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff was courteous and helpful. They shared dining recommendations and local haunts to visit. The atmosphere was quiet and family friendly. There was an additional $3.00 per day surcharge for running our AC. Which we ran 2 of our 3 days stay. We would definitely stay here again. While we never used the rest room, shower, or laundry facility, they appeared maintained though small and rustic. We camped at Desert of Maine in a Fifth Wheel.

Gregoire's Campground's, Wells, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived without reservation, asked for a site that might get WiFi and were pleased to be cheerfully accommodated. Sites near the office can use the park's should have a usable connection. We had had a strong and stable connection via our WiFiRangerSky, and had a fair, useable connection direct from my Nook inside out unit. The staff was courteous and helpful. The restrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. We would stay here again. We camped at Gregoire's Campground's in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $33.00

Management was friendly. The dump site was a bit awkward (natural lean away from receptacle and a tight turn to the right to exit) but adequate. We camped at Baker River Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
