Happy Traveler RV Park, Thonotosassa, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

$504/month plus electric.

The roads are asphalt. The sites are grassy/sand/dirt. There is a concrete patio and picnic table at each site. Depending on what spot you get, it can be a little difficult to get into. The ladies in the office when we checked in, weren't super knowledgeable about telling us which way to pull in, but they were nice.

Lots of shade. A fenced dog park. Treats for the pups up by the office. Washers are $1.50 (could be better), and dryers are $1.50. The pool is nice and has yet to be crowded at all. They say it is a 55+ park but they let us stay and I've seen kids and teenagers, as well as other couples in their 20s and 30s. There is a security guard at the front. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Novato RV Park, Novato, California

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $81.00
Overall Rating:

Tight spaces, but enough room for a picnic table at each site. Paved roads. Gravel sites that are not quite level. The RV park is sort of in the front of a large mobile home park. There's a "dog area" but it isn't fenced in, and full of little stickers and thorns.

You can put a deposit down for a key to the pool (small and full of kids). There's a deli in the same building as the office. The lady who checked us in was everything but pleasant.

If you plan to stay longer than 3 weeks, you need to fill out an application and show proof of income. I thought that part was ridiculous. (They wanted previous employers and landlord information. They wanted to know the lien holder on the camper and vehicle.)

We stayed 2 weeks. 3 days after we left, the office called to tell us our rent was late. That was a first for me! We camped at Novato RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Golden Bear RV Resort, Klamath, California

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a "park" not a "resort" by any means and for that I gave it a high rating. The owners were really nice when we checked in and let us choose whichever open site we wanted. They have long pull-thrus and pull-ins along the river. FHU, spacious sites with green grass. It's right on the 101, very easy access. We camped at Golden Bear RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

A new casino just south of the RV park has an understaffed, overpriced restaurant. The Trees of Mystery are a few miles north. Jet boat tours are right next door. River would be good for salmon fishing.

Columbia Riverfront RV Park, Woodland, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This wasn't a bad park, but the ladies in the office almost ruined it for us. They were extremely rude on the phone and not much better when we checked in. I had reserved a 50 amp space but you share a utility pole with your neighbor and there's only one 30 amp and one 50 amp outlet so you get the luck of the draw. We couldn't reach our sewer but the ladies in the office said we wouldn't need to since we were only staying one night. They also didn't want us to unhook the truck or put our patio down for whatever reason but we did anyway. (We checked in around 1pm so we had a while to hang out.) There is a large pet walk area along the Columbia River. You can also fish from the banks but Walmart wasn't selling fishing licenses so we didn't get to try that. Motorcycles are not permitted in the park. We camped at Columbia Riverfront RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Winchester Bay RV Resort, Winchester Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

I had a blast while we were here. The office gives you lots of info when you check in about what there is to do locally. We did a bunch of crabbing! The sites are long enough that we could open our back patio with no problem. There was separate parking for the truck. The resort was laid out to help block the wind when you are sitting outside. Each site had a picnic table and fire pit. Level, paved pull-thrus with some pull-ins for motorhomes. I would definitely come back. We camped at Winchester Bay RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Go to Salmon Harbor Bait & Tackle to rent crab pots and buy licenses. The owners were super knowledgeable and helpful to us newbies! Double D's on the Rocks is a sports bar with really good clam chowder. Umpqua Triangle Oysters are the biggest we've ever eaten!

Turtle Rock RV Resort, Gold Beach, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Our impression of the park that we got from their website, and what it actually is were quite different. It's a "resort" so I expected a bit more for my $53. We had a back in spot that we barely got into. This place is not very big rig friendly. The back of the site dropped off about 10 feet to Hunter Creek. We had a fire pit and a picnic table. Some of the sites have decks and spas which would be nice but none of those were available. If you have a site in the back of the park, it will be noisy with traffic on the 101. Overall, I don't think it was worth the price. We camped at Turtle Rock RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Chimney Rock Pioneer Crossing, Bayard, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

The rate was $325/month plus electric. Small RV park, very close to Chimney Rock. Beautiful views and sunsets. Rural country setting. Friendly owners. Good water pressure, full hook ups. No wifi. Gravel roads and sites. Easy in and out. Nice little store that has good food (burgers, sandwiches, ice cream) and beer available. Lots of guests were working nearby, others stop through for a few nights just visiting. The park stayed fairly full the entire month we were here. There is a horse, 2 donkeys and a herd of cattle that live on the property also. We camped at Chimney Rock Pioneer Crossing in a Fifth Wheel.

RV Ranch of Keene, Keene, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This was a very nice park. Pretty, well kept sites. Gravel spots, we had a pull-through and it was level. Our site had a half-circle patio and an arbor with vines that provided shade. We had a small yard and were close to the pool, very nice and clean. We stayed in the "adult" section, which I would recommend. The "family" section was mostly long term mobile homes and a bit run down with a not-so-nice pool and not as well kept grounds. Pizza place and video rental on site. A pretty lake you can fish in with a couple docks on it. Lots of washers and dryers and the laundry room and showers are cleaned daily. I would stay here again. We camped at RV Ranch of Keene in a Fifth Wheel.

Pine Crest RV Park, Slidell, Louisiana

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a month in a brand new fifth wheel. We paid $545.05 for the month. You have to put $100 deposit down that they will supposedly mail back to your permanent address when you leave but everyone I've spoken with here says nobody gets it back. The rules state that if you leave tire tracks in the grass, you have to fill them in and put grass seed down. Our entire spot has been under at least 2" of water since we got here and there will undoubtedly be tire tracks when we leave. The managers are extremely rude, the worst I've ever come across. Right after we checked in and parked, I asked if our spot floods when it rains and was told I could build a deck if I was worried about it. The narrow roads are full of potholes, on top of the "speed dips" they have purposefully dug in the roads. The WiFi doesn't work with Apple devices and only works in the office. There are 4 washers & dryers and the laundry is only open during office hours (1/2 day Saturday and closed on Sunday). Also, they do not give change for the machines. I was told I could go to a few different gas stations to try and get quarters. My fiancé and I received a package but I wasn't allowed to pick it up because it had his name on it, not mine. Less than half the sites are paved or gravel. Our spot is mud/grass. It is an RV and mobile home park combined. There are only 2 RV parks in Slidell, so there isn't much of a choice where to stay, but I will definitely not be returning here, ever. We camped at Pine Crest RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Palm Beach Traveler RV Park, Lantana, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 3 weeks and paid $525 a week. This park is very well kept. There are flowers planted everywhere. The roads are paved and very nice. The sites are pretty close together but everyone was very friendly. There is a heated indoor pool, a community kitchen, and a lounge area with satellite tv. The office gives change for the washers and dryers. There are only 3 washers and 4 dryers but I was always able to do my laundry without having to wait and the machines are all new and work very well. The laundry is open all night long. There are activities all the time from line dancing lessons to pizza parties to live entertainment on Saturdays. It is mostly all snowbirds with a handful of full time residents. There is a fenced in dog run area in the storage section of the park. There is also a dog walk trail around the whole edge of the park. The front of the park is a little noisy from the street, and is right next to a daycare that can be noisy when the kids are outside. The managers are helpful, especially with parking because some of the spots are hard to get into. Not the best for an overnight stay. They are all back in sites, no pull throughs. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Palm Beach Traveler RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Trader's Village RV Park, Grand Prairie, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We made reservations and pulled in after hours. We stayed here 2 nights. We checked the map on the office door to see where our spot was. The map showed a turn around at the end of a road, but when we got down there, it was a dead end. VERY hard to maneuver in such a tiny space with cars, trucks and campers all around. When we finally parked, our site was very unlevel. All are concrete pads and mostly pull throughs. There are lots of washers and dryers and all work well. $1 to wash and $.75 to dry. The flea market is right next door and is a fun thing to do on the weekends. The dog walk areas are along the fence line and only about 2ft wide. They do have bag dispensers and lots of trash cans placed around the park. I would stay here again only if we were given a spot in the front of the park and if we come in during daylight hours. We camped at Trader's Village RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Abe's RV Park, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here from October 2014-February 2015. Our monthly rate was $450 for a 30AMP. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. All the sites are large with long concrete pads. The overnight spots are in the front of the park and are all pull throughs. There are 10 washers and 10 dryers. The office always has change. The laundry and office are open 7 days a week. The roads are wide and easy to maneuver. They spray to get rid of the burrs on the ground which was really nice for my puppy. They take good care of the grass and the roads. They also put insulation on all the water spigots in the winter and help thaw your lines if they happen to freeze. Very easy access to I-35. Love's and Flying J right up the street. The owner gave us a map of the area, directions to Walmart, and recommended some good restaurants. Also recommended a vet for my puppy. I would definitely stay here again if we are in Oklahoma City. We camped at Abe's RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
