Columbia Riverfront RV Park, Woodland, Washington

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is very clean and the staff friendly. It is very quiet. It is far enough off of I-5 that there is no road noise. You can hear the occasional train on the other side of the Columbia River, or tug pulling a barge upstream. The short term sites are all pull throughs and set up so you can park your rig to take the best advantage of the view. Services are located together so two sites use the same power pole. There is one 50 amp and one 30 amp per power pole. Each site has it's own sewer and water, located by the power pole. We camped at Columbia Riverfront RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ocean Mist, Ocean City, Washington

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

We are members so the $3.00 per night was for wifi for two laptops and cable. The wifi signal is very good. On the upper level, some site were closed due to high water table because of record rainfall. All sites on the dune were usable. We camped at Ocean Mist in a Fifth Wheel.

Pacific Beach Resort and Conference Center (Military FamCamp), Pacific Beach, Washington

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Many improvements since our last stay. All the power poles have been fixed/upgraded, bath house refurbished and the picnic shelter and bathhouse re-painted. Still no lights in the picnic shelter. Best of all, wifi is now available in the campground. Main building is currently being remodeled, so the restaurant was closed. The plan is for it to be replaced by a small store and cafe. Hot tub building was condemned and is not currently on a schedule to be replaced. We camped at Pacific Beach Resort and Conference Center (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Back corner of the perimeter fence has a walk-through gate to the access road to the beach. It is a bit of a climb, so I would advise driving.

The only thing I didn't like was the lack of a dump station. We camped at Hood River Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Maple Grove Resort, Randle, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2016
Overall Rating:

We are members, so our stay did not actually cost us anything.

Definite improvement in cleanliness in the bathrooms since the last time we stayed there. The upper area of the park looked well cared for, but we prefer to stay in The Grove, which is more primitive and quiet. We camped at Maple Grove Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Ellensburg KOA, Ellensburg, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Flat site, nice shade, very crowded - however it was a holiday weekend.

Sites are very close together.

Some road noise, but not too bad.

Staff was not unfriendly, but acted like they were doing us a huge favor when we checked in. We did not have a reservation, and they made a big show of looking for a spot big enough to hold us. A late evening walk showed 4 -6 empty spaces that we would have easily fit, most of which were still empty when we left in the morning.

Tent parking in the parking lot was not enforced and there were several cars on the road when we left. One of the tent campers had to move their car so we could safely pass it. We camped at Ellensburg KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Pleasant shady park at the end of a long hot day. Good gravel roads, lots of mature trees, friendly staff.

Just far off the road enough that I-84 road noise is minimal. We camped at A-Frame RV Park (formerly Oregon Trails West RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Century Mobile Home and RV Park, West Haven, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The park is clean and well kept and the staff are friendly. Getting to the park is a bit tricky with a hair-pin turn off the highway and then traveling through a very large mobile home park.

The wifi is terrible. We were told that they are working on installing additional stations throughout the park, but based on the previous reviews, sounds like it is an on-going problem.

The site was reasonably level, but a rather a bit narrow and at an odd angle to the road. The roads are also narrow.

We left very early. The road noise was so bad that we were unable to sleep past 4:30. We were not the only people leaving at 6:00 am.

We will probably not stay there again. We camped at Century Mobile Home and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground, Oxford, Iowa

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Very pretty with a catch & release fishing lake and a pool. Abundant, well-trimmed mature trees for shade .

The sites are terraced into a very steep hillside and our spot was not very level, although it looked like other spots were more level. A heavy rainstorm had been through recently and the roads were badly rutted with the gravel washed out in places. We had to use our 4x4 drive to get into our spot due to the soft ruts. The roads are very narrow and the turns very tight.

Not far off of I-80, but reasonably quiet. There are a number of long-term residents and a row of single wide residential trailers. All the long term sides were clean and neat.

I would have scored them slightly higher, but the WiFi went out about ½ an hour after we arrived and the TV signal was intermittent. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Timberline Campground, Waukee, Iowa

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Very pretty campground! Lots of mature trees, well trimmed so as not to interfere with rigs. In the 90+ heat, the shade was very welcome.

It is far enough off the road that there is absolutely no road noise.

They have a fenced dog off-leash area.

The interior roads are a bit narrow. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Rondee's Campground, Mitchell, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice quiet, little no-frills campground tucked in behind the Day's Inn Hotel.

Very flat, mostly grass sites. No shade. Wifi is iffy at the spots furthest away from the office, but there is a table and chairs and they do not care if you sit in the office and surf.

It is easy on and off Hwy 90, and pretty quiet with the hotel blocking most of the road noise.

There is a $5 charge for campers to use the pool/waterpark. We camped at Rondee's Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Rapid City RV Park and Campground, Rapid City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

The staff are very pleasant.

The campground has obviously been allowed to run down and the new owners are renovating. The buildings have all been freshly painted. A ground crew was working the entire time we were here - replacing fencing around the pool and cleaning up broken pavement. It looks like they are preparing to repave the roads.

The sites are dirt and weeds. Each site is terraced into the hill, ugly, but reasonably level. There are trees that are dead and need to be removed. The view from the sites is lovely. You can see across the valley during the day and the city lights at night.

The WiFi is terrible. In spite of several hot spots, the bandwidth is inadequate and horribly slow. It dropped out while I was writing this review in the middle of the night and I had to start over. We camped at Rapid City RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
