Barrewood Campground, Westfield, Vermont

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Still an excellent campground for a relaxing stay. Mark is a wonderful host, full of suggestions for touring the area. Baths are small but well-maintained. Single washer and dryer. Only a few sites with sewer hookup. Grass sites with some shade. Antenna no problem. Good AT&T service. Lots to do in the area (Newport & Derby Line, Jay Peak). A little highway noise. We camped at Barrewood Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Twin Ells Campsites & Mobile Home Park, West Chazy, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Park is well-kept and the managers are very polite and helpful. Most of the sites are taken by seasonal unit and are only used on weekends, so very quiet during the week. Nice pool. Small laundry (2x2) but inexpensive ($1/$1.50). Most sites are shaded, nice in summer but satellite access often not available. Park WiFi is good - at least during the week. AT&T access is weak. We camped at Twin Ells Campsites & Mobile Home Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rocky's Recreation Area, Boonville, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

A real gem at the edge of Adirondack Park! The facility is a wide open space with shade trees around the perimeter. The park road is gravel and plenty wide. Sites are grass with pedestal conveniently located in the rear. Most sites are level, requiring no more that a 2" board or block to level. A few sites at the lower end are soft after heavy rain. Full hookups are available with 30 & 50 amp plugs. There are also sites with no hookups or electric only for boondocking or tents. Satellite access is easy and AT&T service is good.

The park has a recreation room available that is used for square dancing on the weekends. There is a plumbed restroom and a shower facility.

There is no web site for this park. The managers quickly responded to phone messages and were very accommodating during our stay.

Basic campground but a great bargain, convenient location and wonderful hosts. We camped at Rocky's Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Gram and Pap's Fort Bellefonte Campground, Bellefonte, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Park has a variety of sites: 30 amp or 50 amp, shaded or open, full hookups, or water and electric only. Some access is narrow; short, steep sections of gravel drive. Plenty of room for our large 5th wheel in drive-through site #69. A good family destination with lots of activities for children. Some long term residents scattered around. Expensive if no kids to entertain; the 50% Escapees discount makes it reasonable (not sure why they dropped Passport America). We would stay here again as SKPs. We camped at Gram and Pap's Fort Bellefonte Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Bald Eagle State Park is nearby.

Bellefonte is a very pretty town with many Victorian homes and buildings. Also home of the American Philatelic Society and a large, pleasant city park. Penn State is 10 minutes away.

Bald Eagle State Park, Howard, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Still well-kept. Park lists 35-foot max but most sites will handle 40+. Might have to park tow/towed in guest parking area. Angled access and roadside posts make some sites difficult to enter. Paved roads allow easy access to any size vehicle. We camped at Bald Eagle State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Little Beaver State Park, Beaver, West Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Opened in 2011. Sites in trees mostly level; sites in open not level. Gravel for roads and sites in good shape. Wi-fi slow - adequate for email. 50A service in some sites. Bath house in good shape; laundry has single washer & dryer ($1). Firewood available. Lots of hiking trails. Reasonable access to Beckley and all New River Gorge locations. Access from I-64 exit 27 is very steep and sharp curves; okay to enter, but probably want to exit via Hwy 307 (left) to Hwy 19 then Hwy 307 to I-64 exit 25. Some sites reservable; some available for drive-ups. Call to check on availability. We camped at Little Beaver State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
