Durango RV Resort, Red Bluff, California

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is my regular stopover on the way north and south. Always friendly staff and you are escorted to your site. The sites are spacious and well maintaned. The restroom and showers are spotless. Though I-5 is close by, traffic noise is not an issue. I'll be back. We camped at Durango RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

The Lakes RV & Golf Resort, Chowchilla, California

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

This was my second stay. A very good stopover on the way through the valley, which was my case, or the national parks are nearby and this would be a great base location. If you are going to stay overnight and move on, get a pull through site because the back-ins are short and would require unhooking your tow vehicle. Office staff was friendly and helpful. My site didn't have a table, while several others around my location did. The park has sites for sale and I figured out that those with tables are ones in private ownership. So if you show up and private sites are in the rental pool when you arrive, you'll probably get a table. We camped at The Lakes RV & Golf Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Olde Stone Village RV Park, McMinnville, Oregon

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This is a mobile home/park model with the RV section. The pads are close together with no trees or other vegetation so privacy would be an issue in good weather if one were outside. The restroom/shower facilities consist of only two units, making for a lineup when the RV section is full. The location is some distance from restaurants and other retail, nothing with walking distance except for the air museum which is next door. We camped at Olde Stone Village RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lakeshore RV Park, Chelan, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This park is owned and operated by the City of Chelan and is very close to the town center. It is adjacent to a city waterfront park with access through it to the shoreline. It is easy walking distance into the town with a Starbucks conveniently located along the way. Our site 78 was a bit awkward to back into because of the angle of the site with respect to the road. The best sites are at the closed end of the D and E loops. The sites are older, with the pad lengths a bit short. After disconnecting our 25 foot trailer I had to angle our truck sideways and still was barely off the road. Some sites definitely required blocking to get a rig level. The electrical service was older and did not have 50 amps. No matter, just brought out the adapter. There are very large trees which provide much needed shade in the summer. We found the staff members to be very friendly and helpful. This is a very popular park particularly in the summer, as reflected in the rates and minimum stay requirements. Check their website for the rate schedule. A very nice park in a great part of Washington. We camped at Lakeshore RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Walk into the town and stop by the visitors center. Very helpful people there. Get maps about the sculptures and murals around town and take the walking tour. Also a nice hiking loop around and between the two bridges. And of course the wineries, more than 30 of them. We started on the south shore and then the next day went to the Manson area. Best restaurant was Sorrento in Tsillan winery.

Trailer Ranch RV Park (55+ Park), Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Good location to go into Santa Fe.
Upon arriving the staff is very helpful and will lead you to your site. Which are very tight. But no matter as they are very well laid out so that you do have privacy if you like.
Clean restrooms. And a very friendly, and overfed, cat will likely come by to visit.

A nice place to stay in Santa Fe. We camped at Trailer Ranch RV Park (55+ Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Although a bit out of town, a really nice park. They have retro travel trailers for overnight use for rent and a really nice building with lounge and other facilities with other retro objects.
The pads are spacious with shade trees.

Very friendly staff.
If I were flying into Albuquerque rather than towing my Airstream I would rent a trailer and hang out here. We camped at Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post in a Travel Trailer.

Shady Lane RV Camp, Barstow, California

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a gem because of great service and the cleanest restrooms and showers you'll find anywhere.
A first impression upon arrival is that it is an old a tired park. Older yes, tired not. As others have said the greeting upon arrival is unexcelled and you only go back to the office and pay when you are satisfied with your spot and everything is hooked up.
While in an older building, the showers and restrooms are spotless.
Our pad was level gravel with nice shade trees.

A very good choice in Barstow. We camped at Shady Lane RV Camp in a Travel Trailer.

Sequoia RV Ranch, Three Rivers, California

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Good Wi Fi, and ATT works well. The bad, I reserved in March for a May arrival a site on the river for three nights. I provided my copy of the reservation and was told that they had me down for one night at an off river location. I doubt very much that anyone would show up here for one night. Anyway after a lot of scrambling by the person behind the desk and my relenting, I got a pull through near the river. I was primarily interested in going to Sequoia and Kings Canyon so the site wasn't that important, however after coming back after a long day at the parks, it would have been nice to have a closure on the river.
As others have said, it appears that some who come here want to go to the park, and others party. I'm glad I came mid week.
Didn't use the showers but they charge for them, and at these rates that seems to be a bit muchl
Next time I'll check other RV parks in the area. We camped at Sequoia RV Ranch in a Travel Trailer.

Apple Valley Orchard RV Park, Kelowna, British Columbia

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for three nights in late September. Upon arrival, we found a sign which had designated sites for those who had reserved. Ours was site 15, with all hookups, a privacy fence from the adjacent site, and a great view of the valley to the east.
There are a number of fruit trees in the park, albeit a bit smaller than are shown on their web site. But no matter.
There were quite a few permanent campers but that didn't detract from being a transient.
The office is open during select hours which was not a problem, particularly if you have a reservation, as all you need to do is to check the board upon arriving. While there were only two restroom/showers, that wasn't a problem. They were spacious and clean.
The sites have a variety of hookups, from dry camping on up. Suggest that you state what hookups you need when reserving.
The location is about 3 miles from downtown Kelowna which is a great community. Lots of options for walking, hiking, cycling. A good place to start is the park along the lake, just north of the cross lake bridge. Elsewhere there are a number of wineries to sample, and downtown has some very nice restaurants. We camped at Apple Valley Orchard RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Small Towne RV Park, Terry, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

As the name states, this is a small town and a small RV park. Upon arrival the owner greets you with a pack of information about Terry and the area. He also helps you unhook if you like, and provides a personal trash can and mat in front of your door.

He has owned this for about a year and is working on improvements. A good place to stay. We camped at Small Towne RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Terry is one of many prairie towns that has seen its activity diminish over the years. But these towns are always interesting to stop by and talk to the local folks. There is a very good museum in town as well as a shop that sells Montana made items and of all things, model airplane and other models. Worth taking a walk to look the place over.

Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort, Hill City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

This is park is situated on a large tract and is divided into several sections, each a distance away from one another. It is a beautiful setting.

We were in Ranch Camp, in the upper area of the park. There was no cable or Wi-Fi there. Not all sections have bathhouses, but Ranch Camp does and it was heavily utilized.

Ranch Camp has numerous evergreen trees which provide plenty of shade. The downside of that is they also provide obstacles for getting in and out of the sites. Our site 155 was a U shaped one and a long trailer or RV would have to use great care in getting in and out. Thankfully our trailer is 23 feet. We camped at Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Rafter J is near Hill City which is an excellent place to use as a base for all the attractions in the southern Black Hills. Two were highlights: Crazy Horse Memorial where, with a contribution, you are taken right up to the top at the base of his head. The other is a hike to the top of Harney Peak, the tallest spot east of the Rockies. Young and old alike were hiking it when we were there.

Badlands / White River KOA, Interior, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This park is an excellent choice to use as a base to visit the Badlands and other attractions in the area.

The layout provides spacious sites with extensive shade from the cottonwood trees. The downside is that during June those shade trees are dropping cotton balls and they are everywhere.

The staff is attentive and the store is well stocked. We camped at Badlands / White River KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Cottonwood COE, Crofton, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

Not only is the rate a bargain, but the location is outstanding. I had a waterfront site, well spaced from others. The inland sites also looked attractive, again well spaced and with views of the adjacent lake. I stayed only one night on the way north, but would come back and stay for several days because of the recreation opportunities in the area. And the city of Yankton is only a few miles. Upon arrival was greeted by a friendly and helpful reception. Gave good information on the area and how best to access them. Tips for other Campers:

Across the street is the John Wesley Powell Museum, with an excellent exhibit of Powell's explorations of the Green and Colorado River. The Horseshoe Canyon unit of Canyonlands National Park is south of Green River and is worth a visit to see the array or petroglyphs.

The town of Green River has seen better days but this KOA is truly an oasis in its midst.
