Beatty RV Park, Beatty, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Clean, level pull through site with full hookups. Conveniently located water, sewer and electric worked fine. Wi-fi not very dependable. Very friendly manager checked us in, directed us to our site. All gravel, no frills, as are most parks in this part of Nevada. Perfect for an overnight stop except for the traffic noise from highway 95. There is a clean, reasonable laundromat onsite. We camped at Beatty RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ely KOA, Ely, Nevada

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Better than average KOA. Our site was fairly level. Utilities functioned fine. Wi-fi was just ok, sometimes slowed down or completely dropped off. Nice dog park area. Very friendly, helpful personnel. Nice shade trees but a little trimming back of branches would be in order. Not crazy about KOA prices, but this park seemed to be the best option in the area. We camped at Ely KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Rock Creek RV Park, Twin Falls, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Wonderful little county park that is a mix of pull through and back-in sites. Water and electric hookups, some 50 amp. No sewer or dump station on site, but there is a public dump station about a mile away. Ask the host for directions. Sites are reasonably level, gravel with grassy space between. As others have said, the entrance does look a little dicey. Just take your time going down the hill. Nice walking paths, close to the river. We have stayed here before and would definitely stay again if in the area. We camped at Rock Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Mountain View RV Park, Arco, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Clean park with long enough level sites. All utilities functioned appropriately and were conveniently located. A good place to stay while visiting Craters of the Moon National Monument. Pretty expensive for what it is, but it is a decent enough park and that seems to be a given near any attraction these days. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rivers Fork Lodge and RV Park, North Fork, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed this small park so much that we kept extending our stay until we absolutely had to leave! Customer service here can't be beat. Pleasant, helpful check-in; assistance backing in if you need it; suggestions for local things to see and do. The sites are all back-in, but not difficult to get into. All utilities functioned appropriately, including better-than-campground-average wi-fi. The beautiful Salmon River is your backyard, complete with wildlife: otters, deer, bald and golden eagles, etc. We would definitely stay here again if in the area. Only negative, and not the fault of the park, is that Verizon service here is very poor. We camped at Rivers Fork Lodge and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to take the scenic drive on National Forest Road 30 just up the road. Runs from North Fork to Corn Creek. The road gets pretty rough and narrow, but absolutely gorgeous, running right along the river for about 40 miles. All kinds of birds and mammals, including many deer, bighorn sheep, bald eagles, golden eagles, Lewis' woodpeckers; also historic sites of the Lewis and Clark Trail and old mines. There are lots of places to turn around if you don't want to do the whole thing,

Choteau Mountain View Campground, Choteau, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

The park is an old KOA. Nice owners appear to be trying hard to make improvements but the infrastructure needs some work. No 50 amp, and the power flickered off a couple times. Sites are rather oddly laid out and not very level. On a more positive note, the park is very clean, no rowdiness from long-term workers staying here, and the laundry facilities are good and reasonable. The Passport America rate was honored for our entire stay. We camped at Choteau Mountain View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The nearby Freezeout Lake wildlife management area is great for birders! We returned 4 times during our stay in the area. There are a couple of farmers markets that are pretty good, too. There is one held in front of the veterinary clinic and another by the museum/visitor center. Byler's Bakery is wonderful - stop by and get a goody on your way to Freezeout Lake!

Trails West RV Park, Shelby, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Not a 'destination park' but a really good temporary option. Sites are level, long and wide enough. We chose a back in site, but there are pull through, too. All utilities work fine, including strong wi-fi. Clean, modern bathrooms and laundry area. It is close to I-15 and a railroad, but neither was particularly loud or bothersome. Located behind a Shopko and Best Western, so not exactly scenic, but for the Passport America rate, what a bargain! We camped at Trails West RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Helpful, friendly Chamber of Commerce. Good farmers markets in Shelby and Cut Bank. There is a small, older Albertson's in Shelby but we didn't care for it. Do your grocery shopping in advance if you can. Prairie dog colony behind the campground...cute little guys, but they are, after all, rodents!

Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs, Saco, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, quiet park. Sites are plenty long and wide. Pheasant families walked thru the yard behind our site. We did not use the hot springs or any of the other facilities associated with this park. Our stay was very pleasant, easy in, easy out. All utilities functioned appropriately. The only downside here was the presence of zillions of mosquitoes, making it difficult to be outside. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs in a Fifth Wheel.

Fox Run RV Park, Williston, North Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park was apparently built for oil workers during the boom. There are still a lot of long-termers here, but not a problem. Aesthetically, it's not much, but the sites are long and wide enough, and fairly level. Utilities worked fine. Interior roads are pretty rough, and the park could stand some litter patrol. Manager is very friendly and helpful. This is okay for an overnight stop. We camped at Fox Run RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Three Flags RV Park, Black Hawk, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Park is located right next to I-90 and railroad tracks, so it is not quiet. There are very few (maybe 4 or 5) full hook-up sites with 50 amp electric. Sites are plenty long enough though not very wide. Restrooms appeared to be very clean, though dated; same with the laundromat. Interior roads were quite rough. Poor wi-fi. Fortunately, Passport America rate was honored for our entire stay. I would never pay over $40.00 a night for a space here. We camped at Three Flags RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Butte View Campground, Bowman, North Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

A nice, clean municipal park with full hookups. Sites are large and fairly level. All utilities (water, electric and sewer) were conveniently located and functioned properly. No wi-fi, but our own Verizon Jetpack functioned ok. Some large pine trees could stand to be trimmed back a bit, and there was some road and train noise, but overall a very easy stay. We will probably stop here again. We camped at Butte View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Glen Ullin Memorial Park, Glen Ullin, North Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Small city park, sites are very close, front part of the park is fairly attractive; not so much back where most of the rv sites are located. It appears that many spots are occupied by workers but it was very quiet at night, except for trains passing through a couple of times. This is not really a park where you would want to spend a lot of time, but fine for an overnight stop. We camped at Glen Ullin Memorial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pelican Point, Jamestown, North Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

This park was very disappointing. Lots of trash on the ground, overflowing dumpsters, sites are dug into a hillside, very short and unlevel. We usually love CoE parks, but this one needs some work. Of course, for 1/2 price I guess one can't complain too much. Some of the sites in the back section of the park appeared to be much better. There were plenty of empty spaces so I can't figure why the person in the office didn't assign us one of those. We camped at Pelican Point in a Fifth Wheel.

Very busy park; lots of well-kept seasonal sites as well as travelers. Well maintained and quiet. Only slight ding is so real noise due to proximity to major highway. Free wi-fi was hit or miss. We thoroughly enjoyed our several day stay at this park and would definitely camp here again if we were in the area. We camped at Royal Oaks RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
