Wonderland RV Park, Torrey, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

As is Fruita, Utah, just down the road, this park is an oasis in the desert. I have never before seen park management/ownership so concerned with fruit trees, lawns and other greenery as here. We have also never before seen as present, concerned and involved a manager as here. We have very much enjoyed our 3-day stay and certainly will stay again should we return to the area. We camped at Wonderland RV Park in a Motorhome.

Route 12 from Torrey to Escalante is not to be missed, although I'd not do it in a motor coach.

Casino Queen RV Park, East Saint Louis, Illinois

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed on the cheap south side, which had trees but they were mostly in the way. The site was just a bit too short but it worked out fine. All services worked very well. The campground is located in a terrible industrial waterfront area, but it is very close to I-70. Despite all the terrible reviews, it suited our needs extremely well. Special kudos go out to the security guys, who came through all the time, were very friendly and provided us with a ride to the subway stop and a phone # to call when we returned. We camped at Casino Queen RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fayetteville RV Resort (formerly Fayetteville / Wade KOA), Wade, North Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This has gone right near the top of the nicest RV parks we've stayed in -- probably right beneath Spearfish, SD City Park, which remains #1. They do a wonderful job of making the place neat as a pin without giving it a too-classy-for-me look about it. We share other reviewers's favorable comments about the pleasant and helpful staff, shrubbery and trees (which are illuminated at night), playground (basketball court too), level site and perfectly functioning W/E/S services. I assume we're in the transcients' section, which is closest to the entrance and very convenient for pulling out for an early departure. A very good job and we'll definitely come again. We camped at Fayetteville RV Resort (formerly Fayetteville / Wade KOA) in a Motorhome.

Spearfish City Campground, Spearfish, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We've only been doing this RV thing for three seasons but have spent maybe 80 nights in a total of 20 different RV parks and I have to say Spearfish City Park is the best yet. The grounds are immaculate, mostly grass and large trees in a quiet tucked-away end of town along an absolutely lovely fast-flowing trout stream. Our site (P1) is large and flat, with all services clustered together near the rear. Both wifi and cable TV are excellent. Perhaps because the kids have gone back to school, it's marvelously quiet here. If I was looking for a place to spend an entire season, this would be at the top of my list. We camped at Spearfish City Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Although we arrived only yesterday, Spearfish looks to be an interesting town. It also has a Super Walmart, so we can stock up on provisions and the town is very accessible from I-90. We'll see the fish hatchery later today -- Tripadvisor says it's one of the top things to see in Spearfish and it's within easy walking distance from our site. There's a also lovely concrete walking/bike path that follows the stream and looks very inviting.

Campers Corner RV Campground (formerly London / 401 KOA), London, Ontario

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We expected the worst from the earlier negative reviews but were very pleasantly surprised. We liked Campers Corner a lot. As noted by others, there are rather few full service sites and we had to settle for 30 amp service, but the place had a very calm, unhurried and pleasant feel about it, with many beautiful shade trees, and it was well groomed and neat as a pin. The new owner is extremely pleasant and accommodating, there whenever you need him but not in your face. Although there is some traffic noise (which did not bother us), it's extremely accessible to the 401 highway and there's a Husky Travel Centre right across the street (Rt 74). We camped at Campers Corner RV Campground (formerly London / 401 KOA) in a Motorhome.

Coming off 401, it's very easy to miss Cromarty Drive. It's just past the eastbound 401 entrance ramp.

Hershey RV & Camping Resort, Lebanon, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

This park may be great for its seasonal users, who seem to be in the majority, but it doesn't seem to have much to offer itinerants, which is what we were. The great majority of the sites were in open fields and offered no privacy and little or no opportunity for shade. The site we chose was shaded but was quite small and covered with very coarse crushed stone. While trying to access the services, I ripped my shin open on thick thorn bushes. The water shutoff did not operate properly and we could obtain a decent supply of water only by using a rope tied to the electric box to hold it open. We checked out the pool/store/snack area and found everything closed or deserted in the early evening hours of the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Herds of Canada Geese and plies of their waste abounded. On the whole, we found it a rather unfriendly and unpleasant place and would not return, not even at $3 per night. We camped at Hershey RV & Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Hershey Chocolate World was much better than expected and their were a number of good restaurants in the area. Try Babe's in Palmyra - great crab cakes.

Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC), College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Cherry Hill Park for around four weeks in connection with the birth of a granddaughter in the DC area. The facility exceeded our expectations in about every possible way. Starting with check-in, which took probably no more than 5 minutes, we were constantly amazed at how efficient, competent, helpful and friendly the park staff were. The three different sites we camped at were all level and clean and large enough for our purposes, although by no means spacious. All had trash and recycling containers and bath facilities nearby, as well as places to walk our dogs, equipped with numerous dog waste bag stations and even enclosed dog parks. The cable and WiFi were both free and excellent. The bath houses were immaculate (except occasionally for bath house #2, which served a large number of itinerant tent camping groups) and well equipped. The pools and laundry facilities were first class and the Star Cafe was wonderful. A thing we really noticed (and appreciated) was the overall "live and let live" attitude. We never once saw any silly rules being pressed on anyone. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Travel Trailer.

A right turn out of the park takes you to a shopping center with Home Depot, Best Buy, large grocery store and several decent restaurants.
