Loretta Lynn's Family Campground, Hurricane Mills, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in lower area. W/E only. Grass site separated from gravel road by moderate ditch cut by recent heavy rains. Sites make you feel like sardines. Not enough room for slide on drivers side and awning on passenger side. Best thing about the site was its proximity to concert pavilion, which was the reason we were there. Next time we'll go for upper area with sewer. We camped at Loretta Lynn's Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Loretta Lynn Restaurant 6 miles away toward I-40. We've ate there about 3 times over the years. Buffet always has one or two excellent items with the rest being just adequate.

Warriors Path State Park, Kingsport, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Nice shady CG. Some of the sites looked small so I would recommend checking site length when making reservations. A little disappointed in showers due to low pressure and single stream rather than spray. I had to chase the water in order to rinse. Park has a nice swimming pool with limited hours however it was far enough away from our site that we had to drive to get to it. Staff was friendly and helpful. Very family friendly place. Will probably return next year about this time of year. We camped at Warriors Path State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We came for the Kingsport Fun Fest but missed the hot air balloons. I'll double check the dates for balloons next year. The Fun Fest runs for over a full week with parades, music, vendors, historical tours and more. Grocery store about 1 mile from park, other shopping areas 2-3 miles.

Indian Mountain State Park, Jellico, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Facilities somewhat improved since corresponding weekend last year. Showerhouse has been referrbished and was reasonably clean. Park has new paddleboats available for rent. Site price has gone up again. We usually meet up with family at Indian Mountain so that is the reason we return at least once a year. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sugar Creek Campground, Crawfordsville, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $33.00

Privately owned. Family friendly. Well kept grounds. Creek runs alongside CG. Were told there is a nice walking trail. We only stayed one night but would stay longer if not on a tight schedule. We camped at Sugar Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Archway RV Park (formerly Quality Times RV Park), Mount Vernon, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Family operated, friendly staff. Reasonably clean, several semi-permanents. Grass needed mowing but not terrible. About 2 blocks off the Interstate so noise not a problem. We had to use 50A-30A pigtail for electricity because all 30 amp sites were taken. It'll do for one night stay. We camped at Archway RV Park (formerly Quality Times RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Asheville West KOA, Candler, North Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Looks like a mom & pop CG that sold out to KOA. Right beside I-40 so traffic noise constant. Nothing special here, nothing terrible either. Rocks as fire rings but burn ban due to dry conditions in effect so it didn't matter. Overall, adequate for a few days. We camped at Asheville West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Creekwood Farm RV Park, Waynesville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

One night stopover. Staff led us to back to back spots so we could pull through. Slight highway noise. Sewer hookup is near front of trailer so we had to pull forward to dump when leaving. Beautiful grounds with a creek running along the perimeter. We camped at Creekwood Farm RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Down By The River Campground, Pineola, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Nice little CG alongside a river. Very flat and level. Most of the sites are for permanents but still adequate for those passing thru. Sites for trailers are gravel with concrete patio. Class A and C have concrete pads to park on. Very well kept. We camped at Down By The River Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Convenient to Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns and other touristy type places. Negative is that I had to drive to next town, about 7 miles, to fill up with diesel.

Bandits Roost COE, Wilkesboro, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Decent, quiet CG on lake. Sort of hilly but not bad. Site we were in was narrow, with barely room for a chair between camper & several steps down to patio. Swimming beach was closed during our visit. If using the provided grill/table/firering be prepared to travel up and down a short flight of steps (about 6-7). Would still recommend this place if your priorities are not major amenities. We camped at Bandits Roost COE in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Town of Wilkesboro has a museum that is kind of neat, along with an old jail and 1770's log cabin. Major shopping area is northwest of town on Hwy 421 and we did not find it until leaving. Several apple orchards south of town on Hwy 16. Medium size waterfall/slide also south of town just off Hwy 16.

Mayberry Campground, Mount Airy, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Well maintained CG. Somewhat terraced for a pleasant view over others if camped higher up. Individual lots not especially spacious but you don't feel crowded. About 4 miles from Mt Airy (Mayberry) town center. Wi-Fi sort of iffy but other amenities very good. While we were here a tanker truck wet the gravel roads to keep down dust. Would stay again should the occasion arise. We camped at Mayberry Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Was here for "Mayberry Days" and enjoyed it. Parade, displays etc. Town also has numerous large old houses worthy of a drive by to look at them. A large granite quarry is on the edge of town, interesting but would have enjoyed it more had we been able to look at the machinery. A short drive to Pilot Mountain state park and worth the drive for the view from the mountain. All modern shopping conveniences located on highway between the CG and town center of Mt. Airy.

Clabough's Campground, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Third time here. Best CG we've found in Pigeon Forge. Quiet, well kept. Pigeon Forge Trolley stops in CG. Very busy this weekend because of Rod Run in town so well planned reservations are recommended during events. Close to main strip in town. Add about $2-3 per night for local taxes. We camped at Clabough's Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Indian Mountain State Park, Jellico, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Park has gone downhill in past couple of years. We've stayed here many big summer holidays over the past 15 years. This year the bath/shower houses were filthy, even more than one would expect during a high usage period. Toilet paper and paper towel holders were empty for many hours. New concrete pads are OK but not level. Prices have gone up about 25% since last year. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Waitsboro Campground COE, Somerset, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Mostly lakefront, but not lake access sites. You gotta drive to a loop at the end of campground and turn around back towards gate in order to back into site. Sites mostly level. Dump station is the cockeyedest set up I ever seen. It's up a short steep hill which can only be approached from outside the gate. Most units must be parked slightly down hill in order to dump. Fairly decent CG once you get past the traffic flow and dump station set up. I would not recommend it for long trailers or 5th wheels. We in a 30-footer and it was near maximum turning length for the roads. We camped at Waitsboro Campground COE in a Travel Trailer.

Leisure Acres Campground, Inc, Cleveland, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful, well kept park. It appears that permanents are in their own area, away from short timers. Really friendly staff that appreciates military, law enforcement, firefighters and others who serve the community/country. Only negative is that the WiFi seemed sort of iffy. Catch & release pond available. Would return again if in the area for overnight or a couple of weeks. We camped at Leisure Acres Campground, Inc in a Travel Trailer.

Convenient to Alpine Village of Helen GA. Going South from Cleveland on Hwy 129, we missed the sign and had to do a U-Turn. Right at first red light past the car dealers.
