Modoc COE, Modoc, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, wooded, lakeside park. Sites sort of difficult to locate even with map and verbal directions. Dumpster on a short loop that could be difficult for a long unit. Still, a peaceful place except for Friday evening when noise from a nearby race track was very noticeable. Our site required a U-Turn to get in to and the turn around place would also be tight for a long unit. We camped at Modoc COE in a Travel Trailer.

Falcon's Nest FamCamp (Military FamCamp), Shaw AFB, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Small CG. Traffic patterns somewhat confusing. Some spots require significant backing ability. Spots very close together. Sewer hookup near front of site which requires looooong hose for most units. Gate closest to CG Closes early. Campers have to drive to main gate after dark. We planned to stay 2 nights but only 1 night available. This place is acceptable for 1 night stopover but I would not to stay much longer. We camped at Falcon's Nest FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Only thing of interest we found in town (Sumter) was Swan Lake Iris Gardens. Small, pretty lake and park. Very few flowers in bloom yet but swans were nice to watch.

Oak Plantation Campground, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful level campground. Well kept and clean. Nice size sites. Good cable TV. Did not try the WiFi. Far enough out of the city to be comfortable, close enough to drive in for the tourist thing. Highly recommend for 3-4 days while just traveling. Saw a few permanents but they were well kept and hard to distinguish from passing-through people. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Hwy 17 into Charleston is busy. Downtown old Charleston confusing to get around in and parking hard to find so give it a little extra time and relax the best you can.

Nova Family Campground, Port Orange, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Spaces fairly tight but adequate. Dog run not on CG map & I didn't find it till late 2nd day. Quiet. Pool looked nice although we did not use it. Decent location for beach access without staying in the middle of beach crowd. Don't think I'd stay for long term but OK for a couple of nights. We camped at Nova Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Silver Springs RV Park (Formerly Silver Springs Campers Garden RV Reso, Silver Springs, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Many permanents and snowbirds in CG and they were all friendly. Office staff friendly and helpful. Appeared that restrooms & laundry were mopped several times a day. We found a cheaper laundramat about a mile down the road from CG. Wind blew Spanish Moss and sticks out of trees while we were there. The next morning a couple of workers were out picking them up to haul off.

The asphalt sites are very close to one another, have a patio and picnic table, with some shade from the foliage. We camped at Silver Springs RV Park (Formerly Silver Springs Campers Garden RV Reso in a Travel Trailer.

City Of Roses RV Park, Thomasville, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Looks can be deceiving. Numerous older unit permanents around the edge are less than inviting. However we had a pleasant, peaceful stay. WiFi dependable, Cable TV good. Lot level. Park generally clean. Posted rates are $5 more than we paid and I consider The price acceptable considering the WiFi & Cable. Staff was friendly & residents we talked to were nice. Occasional train noise. I give the place a slightly higher rating than previous reviewers. We camped at City Of Roses RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Thomasville is a pretty, little town. Several old, well maintained, large houses to see. Giant Live Oak tree in town. Pebble Hill Plantation a few miles out of town is pretty but no photos allowed inside the main house. Staff there watches closely to be sure that tourists don't touch anything.

Andersonville City Park Campground, Andersonville, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

23 Site City CG. 4-5 permanents. Some concrete pads, some grass. Mostly level. Surrounded by trees with a few scattered inside the CG. This CG was perfect for us. Quiet, peaceful. No tables, fire rings or playground. Large wooded area behind CG to walk dog. Bathrooms were locked with a combo lock which we never learned combo. You gotta go about 2 blocks into town to the Drummer Boy Museum to register and that's the only reason I gave service a lower rating. Might me my fault, but it took me a while to find the sign telling me where to register. Overall, I recommend it for adults who don't care about extras. Some sites had concrete pads and some were grass. It appears that some of the concrete pads had cable TV access. We camped at Andersonville City Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Place has several levels of available sites. We chose one with water & elec. Paved drive thru site but pavement was very rough & had to wiggle a bit to find exact parking spot to level and reach hookups. Shady & near lake. Convenient to attractions in Stone Mountain Park. Dump sites convenient along road to exit. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Renfro Valley RV Park, Mount Vernon, Kentucky

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Nice little park. Level sites. Quiet. Small creek runs through center of campground. Mostly middle age to seniors use this CG. Only negative is that WiFi advertised but I've never had any luck logging into it. Close to I-75 but very little road noise. Have been there several times. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Clabough's Campground, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Crowded when we were there. Leaf Peepers in the Smokey Mountans I think. In calling around for reservation, Clabough's had the only open spot I found in Pigeon Forge. Not the spot I wanted but OK anyhow. Have stayed there before and liked it better because of site location. We were in a permanent resident section this trip. Staff was helpful and friendly. One of the workers even offered to take me around CG in his golf cart as I searched for a specific item. Site parking was tight for tow vehicle, had to be very careful to get pickup off the road. We camped at Clabough's Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg & Sevierville are always bad for traffic, Mid-October seems to we even worse because of people looking for turning leaves. We went to Dixie Stampede first time in many years. Good show, great food. Had a 6 scoop banana split at Mel's Diner on Wears Valley Road. it fed 4 people. Was good. "The Island" in Pigeon Forge is mostly tourist trap type shops but the Dancing Waters fountain was spectacular.

Indian Mountain State Park, Jellico, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Have stayed here numerous times over the past 13 years. I gave the restrooms a clean rating based on cumulative experience. Most recent stay was 4th of July so restrooms were well used with all that comes with that. Recent improvements are a number of concrete pads with patio pad. Reservations need to be made well in advance of holidays. The park is in a small town and it's common for locals to cruise thru so traffic is moderate to heavy. Trash is emptied from central cans several times daily. During non-holidays the park is peaceful and quiet with several sites normally available. We camped at Indian Mountain State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Blue Licks State Park, Carlisle, Kentucky

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Another of these parks where water and electricity are between 2 well separated sites. Long cords and hoses are necessary. Due to recent storms, we had a mud puddle outside our front door. Overall, though, I would recommend this park if one is well prepared with ample hookup materials. We camped at Blue Licks State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Memorial Park Campground, Washburn, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Small City park. Electric only $25/night. We carry 30 ft of water hose and had to borrow more hose to fill tank when we left. Only 2 spigots available and they are well off the road. Some sites very difficult to maneuver into. Showers were mostly clean but not great. We camped at Memorial Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Eveleth Veterans Lake Park Campground, Eveleth, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Decent CG with several amenities. South of town off Hwy 53, Not in town. Only real negative comment is that the water connections are too far from campsites. One connection serves 2 sites and sites are well separated. CG manager loaned us enough hose to reach our unit. We camped at Eveleth Veterans Lake Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful wooded campground. We liked it the moment we stepped into the office. Staff very friendly and helpful. Price reasonable. Laundry clean and reasonable. Would definitely stay again if the opportunity arises. Some sites are somewhat small, but the staff makes every effort to match units with sites.
