Kaibab Paiute Band Tribal Campground, Kaibab, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Gorgeous views across the prairie with red rock to the side. Nice, hard packed trail for walking or biking to the store/gas station, to the Visitor's Center or along the red rock into the village. Full-hookup sites are very roomy, although not level. Price for laundry is $1.75 and machines did a great job. So many points of interest can be accessed: Zion National Park, North Rim Grand Canyon, Coral Pink Sands, Staircase National Monument and Pipe Springs National Monument. Star gazing is terrific as is the quiet. Heard coyotes every evening and loved it. WiFi was reliable. I plan on staying again! We camped at Kaibab Paiute Band Tribal Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Convict Lake Campground, Mammoth Lakes, California

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Camp hosts and manager were very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are newer, clean, and smell good. The sites, although narrow for my 32' fifth wheel with 3 slides, had plenty of grassy space and a large table in back alongside the creek (space 24). Tall pines made my site feel cozy. Work could be done on some of the asphalt pads that are cracking and need leveling. We had a big snow just before I was to depart and the manager gave folks due to leave that day a free night. Before I departed, one of the hosts came to help me sweep the foot of snow off my slide toppers. The lake is absolutely beautiful - with a lovely 3 mile walk around it. A cute boardwalk at the back where the stream enters the lake has a grassy area for a picnic or for a nice rest. The nearby resort has a restaurant and rents boats to fish the lake. I heard the trout fishing was great. I will definitely return. We camped at Convict Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Honey Lake RV Park, Milford, California

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

The views across the highway of dried up Honey Lake do draw the eye - and that's a good thing because the campground is a mess. There's a lot of junk laying around: broken, rusty swing sets, old rundown RVs on the side and in the back, a huge orange trailer with bags of trash to the rim that need disposing of (flies), dog poop laying around everywhere - even at campsites (ours). It's just dismal to say the least. During our stay we heard one of the tenants living in a very old rig using the "f" word very loudly to read out the management, and another's dog barked incessantly. The noise from the highway is not conducive to a good night's sleep. For a moment, I'd considered using this as a layover on my snowbird route home, but have decided that even the good price isn't worth it. We camped at Honey Lake RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
