Very nice campground. Big lots with almost half of them pull through. They had lantern poles, fire rings, grills, picnic tables and a movable heavy duty table for anything you needed. Very friendly staff. The only negative, if you want to call it that, is that a lot of the lots are a real pain if you want to set up a satellite dish, otherwise a very nice park. We camped there over the 4th of July and they were full but still well maintained. We camped there in a travel trailer. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This campground is top rated by me. Roads are asphalt and free of problems. Sites are level, cement, long, and wide. You have a table, fire ring on ground, and BBQ cooking equipment. Lots of room from site to site. Water, power, and (sewer on 19 sites only) was good. Verizon cellphone to the top, DTV will pick up some channels over the air. Due to heavy trees some sites may not work well for Sat. dishes. The shade here is about the best we have ever found. Park sits on Lake Walter F. George and is very large with a power dam. Lots of sites on lake and 18 sites are pull-thru. Bathhouses were clean and have A/C plus a launder room. Great place to fish if you wish to. Eufaula is a little north of park for places to eat and to shop for anything you may need. I understand park will upgrade to 50 amps this year. Staff was great at check in. Gates are locked at 10:00 pm. Playground equipment for the kids and the only sounds you hear were wild bird songs. Large sand beach for swimming. Rates were on Golden Age Card. Free Wi-Fi at Eufaula library. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Outstanding! The Campsites are very private shaded and large. There is a small playground for young children, fishing, and bicycle riding without the worry of heavy traffic. There is also a designated swimming area which was not busy at all. The park left cut firewood next to the fire ring for the first night of campfires after that they encourage you to gather more in the woods. The staff was one of the best to deal with and very helpful. The Park Ranger made several trips through the area to check on everyone which was a nice feeling. This would have received a perfect 10 from us except of the fact there were a few dead fish on the beach that could have been cleaned up and the occasional loud music in a vehicle that drove by other than that we highly recommend this site to anyone young and old. We will definitely be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I usually rate COE parks a 9 or a 10 but can't with this one. It's still a nice park but it's just not one of the better ones. The sites were rather narrow and some are very close together. Not what you usually get with COE. Overall not bad and we would probably stay here again. I just felt more crammed in that I'm used to at these type of parks. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful COE park with all asphalt roads, cement level pads to park on. Park is on Walter F. George lake with most sites on or very close to lake. You have 20 sites with sewer on "Shady Loop". No road noise in this park. Very dark at night. Good power and water. Lots of space from site to site. Camp fires are OK here. Park is very heavy with shade trees. Rest rooms, showers, and laundry were spotless. Lot of people fish in this lake. Two dumps stations near front of park. Trash dumpers "3" also near front of park, long walk from most sites. Golden age cards price was $11 per night for FHU site. Eufaula is 22 miles to center of town, check out old antebellum homes, lots to look at around town. Park gates are locked at 10:00pm. We will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
All sites are set up and around heavy trees. All sites have a lot of space, table, fire pit, and great view. Sites are cement and roads are blacktop. Great view of lake from lot of sites. On Golden age card price is half. We camped here in a Motorhome.
For a state park, this is one of the best we've ever stayed in even though like most state parks it doesn't have 50 amp or cable. Sites are very long and has plenty of room between sites. Each site is shaded. Would definitely stay here again but not when temperatures are above 85. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was a typical State park with some facilities. The staff was very friendly and the RV site was large with easy access. I asked for, and was graciously given a site with minimal trees so that my satellite TV could receive a signal. The park was quiet and is located right on a large beautiful lake. This is one of those parks that would require more than a one night's stay to appreciate. I would stay there again without hesitation. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wonderful campground but the drainage could use some improvement. There had been a lot of rain and the sites were a little swampy. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Quiet, pleasant place to spend some time. Concrete pads were nice and level everywhere we looked. Nice area to ride a bicycle, little traffic. Lots of tall pine trees to shade you. Sites directly on the lakefront are about $28 a night for water and electricity, sites in the same loop not on the lakefront are $14 for water and electricity. Tennis courts are rough, green-painted asphalt which is *not* even. Picnic tables at each site, as well as a fire ring or a small BBQ grill. My only real complaint was that there were not enough garbage receptacles, nor was there any pickup service. For the entire loop of about 60 sites, there was a single dumpster, and it was at the very beginning of the road, quitea hike. All said, it was a nice place, for a nice quiet stay. We'd go back again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We are a retired couple who enjoy space, peace, and quiet. This park provided lots of this. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 days spent there on our trip from Arizona to South Carolina. We did miss having internet and I missed a pool because I like to swim as often as possible. The sights are big, treed, and quite level. There are many hiking trails, and there are 2 tennis courts. Town is close by and the "downtown" area is quite quaint and pretty. Would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stopped here as an overnight stop on a trip. After hours check in is provided along with pricing as we departed before the office opened. We used a long pull-thru that was paved and level. Nice state park and close to town for eating etc. We will stay here again and would be a nice weekend or week long place to stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We found this park to be quiet and clean in appearance. A great place for kids to ride bikes. The park was not full over the weekend and nearly empty when we left Monday morning. We will return for another visit. We camped in the Deer Court section with full hook-ups. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I have been visiting this park since it opened, not much has changed. It is in need of an update, however we always have a blast and the staff is wonderful. They know us by name now. We store our camper there, we visit often as I love to bass fish. I recommend this park, just wish it had a pool. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park was a big disappointment. It was old and in disrepair. The sewer sites are not on Lake Eufala (Walter F. George reservoir), only near a creek leading to the lake. The beach (on the creek) seems to be a mix of construction sand and goose droppings. Most of the paved roads in the camping area are crumbling apart. There was a lot of litter blowing around and our sewer connection was clogged and backed up when we tried to use it. We stayed 2 nights only because we wanted a chance to visit Providence Canyon, nearby in Georgia (well worth a visit). Georgia's Florence Marina State Park is not far from Lakepoint and a much nicer campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A nice, but dated state park. Alabama should visit nearby FL state parks and learn from them. Sites were paved, level and in good shape. Many pull throughs. We stayed in a circle campsite that had a lot of space. Campground itself is kind of boring, but there are things to do in the park (fish, golf, hike, bike, etc). Some updating would go a long way to making this a 8 or 9. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great visit and wonderful, friendly park. Only complaint is that some of the campers/visitors do not adhere to posted speed limit. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We rode through this campground in May to see if we wanted to stay there. The answer was definitely NO. What used to be really nice was not anymore. I understand that this was used by Katrina refugees and that they really messed it up. I am sure it will be spruced up, but call and check it out before you reserve a spot. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I had to comment on the previous review. I wrote the one in January 2004, and of course, that was prior to Katrina. When we were there this year, the full hook up sites were indeed occupied by Katrina refugees. It was sad that the area was a little run down, mostly broken awnings and so we wonder if anyone instructed these people on what to do with an awning. We were located in the electric and water section, with view of the lake. It is a really pretty place and the fellow campers were pleasant. We had a great time. I feel sorry for the parks and the evacuees from the hurricanes in the south. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park, even in January, is beautiful. The site we had was a pull-thru on one of the
ends of the row so we felt like we had a quarter acre. The facilities were lovely and the lake really nice. I would imagine in the summer the place would be packed. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here overnight on a return trip from the beach. The loop we stayed in has many
campsites in a big field. However, there are trees and the sites are well spaced. Our pull thru seemed like it was 100 feet long. The sites are big. I don't recall any sites directly on the water (at least on our loop). However, the sites are relatively close to the swimming area. There is another loop, without full hook-ups, that has sites on the water. The area in general is quite wooded and very peacefull. The roads are great for bike riding. We used the recreation building for our group as it rained some. The kids also played in that building. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice COE park on Lake Walter F. George. All roads are asphalt and free of potholes. Sites are cement pads, level, long, and wide. Site had a wood table, fire ring, and BBQ cooking equipment. Most sites have lots of room around, grass, nice trees to sit under. Verizon cell phone was to the top. DTV will pick up a number of channels. Sat. dish on the ground works best here due to heavy trees. Bathhouses were like new, clean, and have A/C system. Water and 30 amps were all good. Staff was nice at check in. Good place to fish. Lots of people using boats to play on lake. Gates are locked at 10:00 pm. Playground equipment for kids. Eufaukla library for free Wi-Fi. Eufaukla is around seven miles north for everything you may need plus places to eat. A new Wal-Mart super center will be open soon on hwy. to park. Only seven pull-thru sites that are good for short units only. Noise free at night. Rates were on Golden Age Card. I understand this park will upgrade to 50 amps this year. You have four dump stations, one at west side, two in middle, and one in rear of park. Best setup we have every found in any park to dump. A great place to visit. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I concur with previous reviewers so I am just adding to the info. There are four separate looped areas with each having it a nice bath house and laundry. All are now 30A only, but one is supposedly being upgraded with 50A. Couldn't verify due to its being closed for the season. Some lakeside sites (back-ins) do have a entry slope issue. The pads are level, but the driveway slope will cause hitch dragging for travel trailers and motor homes. There are a handful of pull thrus. The library in Eufaula has a Wi-Fi hotspot. Rate reflects Access Pass discount. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This beautiful COE park has 130 W/E 30 amp sites but only 40 sites are reservable - the rest are first come first served. Sites are level concrete pads, most with long driveways. Good space between sites and most are angled to provide the best view. Most sites are lake front and heavily shaded but many are satellite friendly. Washer and dryer at shower house. Lots of bass boat traffic on the lake. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Clean, neat, and beutiful camping.Very busy. Recomend calling Reserve America. for res. Some site a little hard to get into because of drop off infront of site. Most cell phones work here, but not at other coe parks on this lake. We camped here in a Motorhome.
GREAT FACILITY......there are many sites right on the lake with beautiful views. Nice park for walking and/or bike riding. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. You will want to stay more than several nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A beautiful Corp of Engineers Park. The only trick was to find a site where we could use our satellite. We are 45' and 30 amp was fine in the spring but would not work in the hot summer months. The dump station was large enough to accommodate us as well. We loved this park! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful, large sites. Lake sites have fish cleaning station, fire pit, patio and area for tow vehicle. Some sites were not level enough for big rigs. Nice wide roads and paved sites. We would stay here again over other parks in the area! We camped here in a Motorhome.
