Very small State Park as other campers have stated in other reviews. Have to check in a ranger office then drive back to area of park entrance for campground location. Campground sites are tight and all back in. Only 4 campers there for our visit. Park personnel very pleasant and helpful. Can walk entire park in about 10-15 mins. Did not visit caverns. Pool, snack bar, gift shop closed during visit. Enjoyed the peace and quiet time. Would visit again if in area We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed here will attending a baseball tournament in Gardendale, which is about 10
minutes away. The campground is pretty small, as there are only 13 sites. Furthermore, some of the sites are very close together. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed our short two night stay here. There is a small ride-on train that encircles the campground, which I thought was unusual and neat. A large swimming pool is only a short distance from the campground. On busy days, the pool can be a little noisy. The neatest activity is to tour the underground caverns. The area is very scenic and clean. The park managers were also very nice. If you are interested in the activities and seeing the caverns, along with a little relaxation, this is a very nice park to visit. If you are looking for a very quiet campground, this is probably not the place to go unless it's on a day when the train and pool are closed (seasonal). We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
