Canyon Lake is beautiful and this campground has 22 sites with water and electric that are all less than 50 yards from the lake. There is also a pretty full service marina and a good restaurant on site. There is a row of 30 amp sites that are intended as back-ins and another row of 50 amp sites, which are pull-throughs. The campground has several problems, all of which are correctable if they make the effort. They should put in at least a dump station if no sewer hook-ups for the sites. They should also do a better job of defining the day use area and separating it from the campground as we experienced a large volume of day use people hanging out right in front of our rig. There is also a problem with the numbering of the sites in the 50 amp section, which led to much disagreement among the campers in this area during our stay. Another criticism of the 50 amp area is that they set it up for hookups on the right ignoring the motorhomes who need it on the left. When a group of us were discussing this with the campground staff (while arguing about the site numbering), the staff replied that the motorhomes can back or come in around the other direction thus facing the road as opposed to the lake - this did not go over well with the people with motorhomes. Lastly, the staff were friendly, but not inclined to enforce the rules. They allowed a couple who brought 8 children with them to pitch a tent on the shared grassy area (two violations - supposed to be a max of 6 people per campsite and no tents are allowed on the shared grounds). When our neighbor asked the staff about it, they replied that they decided to ignore it. The large tent blocked our view of the lake for the two nights this family was there. The staff also ignored the frequent violations of the rule asking people to pick up after their dogs. We have two dogs and were the only people in the campground who picked up after our dogs during our stay. All in all, they have a great location and a mediocre campground, which could also be very good with a little more effort from the management. We camped here in a Motorhome.
