Much better than spending the night in a big box store parking lot. Trees for people who want them, no trees for the satellite folks. Park on asphalt. Great for 1 or 2 nights if you don't care about any infrastructure. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We called for information ahead of time, and left a message. The return call, within an hour, was very helpful and friendly. Access to interstate is good, and easy to find. We parked in a circular fashion around a nicely landscaped (for New Years Eve) park. Got Good Sam discount. Parked near the Ag Learning Center, and found a strong internet signal. It was quiet, and we left the next morning without incident. Found it a good overnight experience and would stop again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We left the Monty here as we drove North to WI for granddaughter's B-Day. The rest rooms left a lot to be desired. The price was right($12 per night as we were staying more than 5 days) and was cheaper than pulling the Monty north and paying for the diesel. The best rest room is right to the left of the office in the cattle barn. We would stay here again to travel north for party. Otherwise no. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great one night stop. They do have a nice area in the center with trees, grass and picnic tables. Easy in and out if you don't miss the first left turn which just off the I-30 ramp. No sign and we thought it was a service road. We will stay there again. We had a 33' trailer. They have security all night. The Kiwanis Club runs it and the office is open from 4 P.M. to about 8 or 9 A.M. We will stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Our group used two sites for a one night stop. They do have a nice area in the center with trees, grass and picnic tables. Easy in and out if you don't miss the first left turn which just off the I-30 ramp. No sign and we thought it was a service road. We will stay there again. We had a 33' trailer and a 37' fifth wheel. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
It is rather hard to describe this place. The web site shows pictures. The rv sites were in the middle of the fairgrounds where all the food venders would be located during the fair. The paved rv area was in a circle four driving lanes wide. The hookups were in the middle with two lanes on each side. This made side by side hookups with rvs parked on the two inside lanes, sort of like parallel parking. Some of the electrical boxes didn't look to be in very good repair, so check them before you pick a site. You pay security, which comes in at 4PM and stays until 7AM. This doesn't sound very good, but it was so much better that Sterling Crest (we stayed there once, see reviews) and much less expensive than the KOA. We will stay here again next time we are in Texarkana. We camped here in a Motorhome.
If you don't have a camper with a shower or bathroom you wouldn't want to stay here. No facilities were available during our stay. Just a huge asphalt parking lot with rv spaces. We've been back to Texarkana since our fist stay here and have chosen other campgrounds. This one is okay if you just want a spot to park for the night. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
Run, don't walk away from this place. Noisey is an understatement. Not well kept...tight...not really a campground in my opinion. Stayed 1 nite and that was too long. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Neighborhood is mechanical/industrial. There was some kind of halfway house on the next block, but it was not a residential setting. CG and apartment complex share property; apartments are extremely shabby, junk cars, stuff hanging on railings. Most of park appeared to be permanent party, rigs were shabby and old. Only saw one resident walking around, and he didn't look reputable. Didn't feel safe, drove away within 10-20 minutes. Roads difficult to navigate, mh barely squeezed through the driveway around the apartments. Drive was one way; assuming the driveway circled out, I pulled out of site onto the main drive to discover the apartments had an 8' wrought iron bridge, barring exit. Rather than get out to unhook the Toad and back up, I chose to drive over a curb, over the lawn into a glass littered parking lot of a closed business next door just to get out of there. Manager not on grounds on Sunday, had told me by phone I could pay the next morning. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I would not stay here again. We were traveling and used one of the popular RV books to find a place to overnight. This place is not very near or convenient to the interstate in my opinion. I wish I had looked at the reviews here at this website before calling and getting there. I could go on and on but do not really need to. There is a KOA near the interstate on the Texas side of Texarcana that is too expensive for what is there, but I would stay there instead if I needed a place to stop. I thought about giving a lower score than a 3 but they did have concrete drive and pads. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I agree with most of the comments regarding trains, sites and condition of the place. I can tell you this is the only "park" I truly felt uncomfotable walking after dark in with my wife. So I wouldn't!! Better to pull off at a Walmart anyday!!! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a Passport America Park. I can not think of anything positive to say about this park. First, it is not in a very good part of town. It is across the street from the train switch yard, so it is very noisy. It was rather hard to get a big rig in thru the gates, trees, etc. Our site was supposed to be a pull thru. I call it a pull off beside the road site. When our slides were extended, they were in the road. We put out orange cones to keep them from being hit. The site was crumbling concrete. The absolute worst part was when we looked for the water connection. There was a metal plate on the crumbling concrete. When removed, BOTH water & sewer were down there. Needless to say, we did not use the water. I could go on, but this is enough. We will not stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I would never stay here again, mainly because the railroad was across the street and it was a switching station. What a lot of noise! We had planned to stay two nights, but nixed that idea really fast. We camped here in a Motorhome.
RV area needs repairs to elec. Gates close at 5:00 so unless someone has a pass card to
let you in you are out of luck. Nice looking park but the noise from trains across the street is very bad. Sounds like a connecting yard with banging noise, whistles, etc. Sometimes sounds like they are coming thru the campground. If one likes trains this is a perfect place. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
No frills gravel slips next to interstate. Great for a quick overnighter. Park is new and still under construction when we were there. Large with plenty of room to maneuver. Staff was friendly. Would stay again. Felt safe. We camped here in a Motorhome.
They are not officially opened...well they are but they are still building. By what they have completed so far...you can see how marvelous it will be. The shower house has the BEST setup ever...you have your own shower stall with a lock and has so much room...they are brand new and a very classy style. Once completed this place feels as if it will be a 5 Star Resort. Located right on I-30, exit #7 in Arkansas and you can hear the noise but no trains nearby. They have WiFi, Cable, Playground, Swimming Pool, Laundry, Store, Dump Station to name just a few of their features. We will definitely return to this park on our future travels. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I agree with comments made by other user, the other thing was there nothing in the office as far as supplies go, and it also had a very pungent odor. The good thing about the campground it is only about 1/4 mile from a Flying J We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
There were good points and bad points to this campground. The owners are VERY friendly and nice. The campground has a rural setting, which is pretty, even though it is right by the highway. The hookups were fine. However, I have two major complaints... 1) The roads were atrocious! All of them were in terrible shape and difficult to manuever. The Frommers Best Campground Guide had mentioned this as well, so it amazed us that they didn't just grade the roads. 2) The pull-thrus were ok in size, but the road around them was TOO small. The turn-around size was ridiculously small. We had to move a picnic table and pray, in order to squeeze out of the campground in a 34 ft motohome. There were fields all around and it was pet-friendly. Our dogs loved it there. One last thing, be careful of red ants. We don't have them were I live, so I learned a rude lesson about them! We camped here in a Motorhome.
