Easy access to park following closely the parks directions. Office staff was very friendly. Was escorted to our site which was on the river at the north end of the park. Our site had some shade, but Sat TV was no problem. There are site available away from the river with view, but lots of shade. Verizon cell had 4 bars. Free WiFi signal was weak from our site, but worked okay. The big hit for this park was watching the river traffic. It was very interesting watching the barges go by. Interior roads are mostly gravel with paved site pad in our section. Other sections had gravel drives. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I loved the park; not so easy to find, but well marked. We had site right on Mississippi River. Tour buses will pick you up at the office. Several small lakes, hiking trails. Cool breezes off the river. Wonderful time watching barge traffic. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice view of the Mississippi river. Concrete pads. Buildings in keeping with the Tom Sawyer theme. Nice people. They pick up your trash. Safe. Ask office for directions from the interstate. GPS will take you through a bad part of town. Will stay there again when visiting attractions in Memphis. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Pretty park on the Mississippi River. Be warned that there are a lot of bugs and a lot of very sticky Mississippi mud that will stick to everything. Water was good, electric good, Wi-Fi good. Would stay again - even with the mud. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

If you are on the front row (be sure to ask for it as they go fast) you are right on the Mississippi river. You can sit in your rig and watch the barges and paddle wheelers go by. The second row at the far end is also a great location with an almost unobstructed view of the river. Friendly staff. We were led to our site. Sites level and large, with every other one a concrete pad. Gigantic fields to run your dog or play softball. However, a train comes by quite often and blows it's whistle again and again. The interior roads leave a lot to be desired. The road into (and out of) the park is very narrow and if you meet another RV you are going to have one heck of a time passing each other. Highly recommend that you unhook and let the toad lead the way. There is little shopping nearby and, frankly, the neighborhood closest to the park is suspect. We left a day early due to the Mississippi rising. in 5/11 the park was under 20' of water. A couple of days after we left they closed the park until the waters receded. This is a problem in the spring. Despite the cons we strongly recommend this park and have stayed there twice and will again. Did I mention the view of the river? We camped here in a Motorhome.

I rarely rate a park a 10. It is not advertised as a resort so the lack of a pool is not a discount. Let's talk about the pluses. While the entrance road once was paved, the holes have been carefully patched with limestone class 5. The access roads have been smoothed recently. Escort to the site. The sites are all level. Pull through plenty long to keep the toad attached and have the sewer "right there" Good OTA TV reception. Good Verizon telephone and 3G service. Garbage pickup at the site. And of course the view is exceptional. We were in the back row but had plenty of opportunity to see the barges (and flotsam) go by. Bathrooms clean and tidy. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is very nice park. Long pull through sties, good TV, and Wi-Fi. Only a few miles to downtown Memphis. This was our second time and strongly suggest you use the directions off their website as the GPS tried to take us another way. Their directions are very easy. We will stay here on each trip. If you arrive before dark you can sit and watch the barges go by as you are right on the river. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a terrific campground. Don't be dissuaded by the location. You go through kind of an industrial area with some chemical tanks to get there. You might think it is a long ways from Memphis activities, but it really is only about 10 minutes, max. This campground is on the other side of the Mississippi. And right ON the river. We secured a camp site directly on the riverfront. The park is very well kept up, clean, tidy and cheerful. The short stay campground area has a free laundry room with two washers and dryers. So easy! The hosts are friendly. They even come by the campsite to pick up the garbage. Being able to see the river move by with its barges is amazing. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. We highly recommend it. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Sites: Decent size, all with a small grass area. Laundry: Free, yes free with high efficiency multiple machines and clean! Pets: welcome, with plenty of grass area and paths to walk them. Wifi: Free, and pretty fast. Verizon internet: Good Verizon phone: Good AT&T phone: Good Book exchange: Small unofficial exchange in the laundry. Mail dlvy: Yes. Area/Town/Sights: W. Memphis is a poor town and not safe. Slums. Best to stay on the highways 40 & 55 to get to shopping in W. Memphis. Memphis is a larger town, with difficult parking, but a lot of restaurants and of course, Graceland. Other info: Sites 1-38 are mainly long term and under trees. Sites 40-76 have some shade. Sites 80-100 are "5th Wheel" sites. These are situated so your back window will have a great view of the Mississippi River. No trees at all in this section. Site 100 gave us plenty of grass area for our dogs. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall friendly and helpful staff. We stayed on a riverfront, concrete pad. Utilities all worked fine, Cable TV fair. Didn't try the Wi-Fi. AT&T had good signal. It rained cats and dogs the second day we were there. Water takes a while to run off, but fortunately the roads were well graveled. Would stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

An excellent alternative to Memphis campgrounds. Don't know how I missed it in my first 8 visits to Memphis. The $32 GS rate is for a gravel site on the river. If you're on a budget, you can get a site "in the woods", gravel sites with trees. for $25, and take a short walk to a bench on the river. All sites are full hook up. The office staff is very nice and most helpful. The river and its traffic can occupy your day. Even with the river at such a low level. Wonderful dog walking. When you make reservations, as for directions. I have two different brand GPSs, they did not agree and neither showed the best route. Most RVs should not use 8th street, there's a low ground clearance rail crossing. I will always use this campground in the future. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice site, concrete pad with convenient utilities. One of the attractions of this park is the barge traffic on the Mississippi. Unfortunately there was none while we were there possibly because of low river levels. The biggest drawback to this park is the entrance roadway which is a little iffy for a large motor home. Friendly office staff. Were escorted to our site. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. Has a downside of no pool, no cable, no planned activities. Sensational view of the Mississippi River, laundry is included, sites very level and the layout was great. It’s close to grocery and supplies, but definitely a day trip through the neighborhood. This camp was very clean, had plenty of space for the sites. Lots of over nighte and when it’s dry, it’s very dusty with the four wheelers leading the new guests to their sites. Would definitely stay here again. Rate shown is monthly including electricity. Outstanding view of Mississippi River and barge traffic are the major draw of this campground. Otherwise pretty average. Sites large, but river view sites have no shade and are dusty or muddy. In a semi-industrial, remote area. It is also interesting that the entire campground is rigged for flooding; office is a trailer, electrical junction boxes are elevated, etc. Would return for the view but not much else. This park consists mostly of large spacious pull-through sites, many located on the Mississippi River. It is a beautiful view, especially early morning and late afternoon. There are several benches and fire pits located at rivers edge that make for comfortable viewing of the river traffic. The facilities are another matter. The showers and laundry are dated, but were clean. There is no cable and the Wi-Fi was weak and unreliable most of the time. It is a great base for Memphis sightseeing. The staff is very helpful, courteous and eager to please. It is not a shaded park, but most sites have a tree or two that provide some shade. We would stay here again. . Although the facility does not have a swimming pool, or camp store, it does have the Mississippi River along its' banks. We paid extra to have a riverfront cement pad and we absolutely do not regret it. All of the riverfront sites have clear sky for satellite. There are also sites back in the trees if you are needing shade. Looking out our window or sitting on one of the park benches and watching the “Mighty Miss” roll along was one of the single most relaxing activities we have ever done, not to mention huge tugboats and barges 24/7. The pad was level and although the interior roads are gravel, they are well maintained. There were several trails and plenty of room to walk the dog. Memphis is just across and up the river along with all the Bar B Que you could want. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was an overnighter after a long day and I didn't even know what state I was staying in! They were busy so check-in was slow but these folks were very accommodating and even drove me to my site. Very spacious pull-through site with full hookups. My large rear window faced the Mississippi River and it was a hoot watching the barges go up and down the river. But venture outside for more than a few minutes and the mosquitoes will eat you alive, so be forewarned. I really liked how easy the access became once I actually got inside the park. Will gladly return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Loved this park and had a concrete slab site right on the river where we watched the barges from benches set along the river's edge. We did not notice any unusual smells as someone indicated. There was some noise from the barges on the river and some planes flying over and maybe even a train in the distance but it didn't bother us. I walked the dogs in the morning and there are several other groupings of sites. All of the river sites are set on an angle to the river so you can see out from the back or side windows if a fifth wheel. Easy to find although there was some dirt getting in but not bad. Very clean and they picked up trash 3x a day. I think this is the place that had free laundry We were here in a fifth wheel for only one night and wish we could have stayed another night as watching the activity on the river was fascinating We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Location, right on the Mississippi, and level concrete spacious sites boost the rating for this park. All utilities function correctly and the restrooms are clean. There are no amenities or cable and the WiFi is a little erratic. The location provides easy access to many Memphis attractions. Eight is a generous rating but the location is cool. Nice Park for an overnight stay. Not that far off I-40. We had a gravel site that was actually pretty level. Free laundry and we were parked right next door. The entrance is rather rustic but the young ladies working at the desk are pleasant. Lots of grass to walk the dog. And the River traffic is so entertaining. We would return if in the area. Nice enough park. It is a bit off the interstate, but easy to get to. It was interesting to watch the barges going up & down the river. The sites were fairly level. We had a gravel one. I have been excited about staying at this park since we got our RV. Everyone speaks so well of the park and it gets rated so high I was excited when our travels finally brought us to the area. Although it was overall a nice experience, several factors left me disappointed. Getting to the RV park was easy IF you follow the directions on their website! If not, you can find yourself in some dicey neighborhoods in West Memphis; don't trust your GPS system! Maneuvering in the park was easy in our larger size RV. Utilities all functioned well and the bathhouses and laundry building, although dated (OK, old and not very nice) were kept reasonably clean. The laundry building contained a half dozen brand new washer and dryers (fancy and expensive high-end units) that are available for patrons to use for free! I suspect the buildings are regularly victimized by regular Mississippi River floods. Super nice office staff checked us in and escorted us to our site. Although the River was at record low levels (lowest level in more than 50 years according to some barge captains) it was enjoyable watching the barges passing by...for a while. After several barges passed by one looked like another and I didn't find it particularly interesting. Grounds were kept nice and there are walking paths around the park. Overall there is a rather dumpy feel to the park (again, not the owner's fault, but a result of semi-regular flooding) and it was difficult getting a good nights sleep due to nearby trains and jets / a flight path that must run right over the park, several loud planes flew overhead very early every morning. There was also a rather odd smell in the air throughout the park, and everywhere in the West Memphis area during our stay. Satellite reception was not a problem and the fifth wheel sites at the River allowed for a nice view of the Mississippi out the rear window. We would stay here again if in the area, but not a park I would go out of my way to stay at. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

What a surprise! We were right on the Mississippi river and had a bench facing the river where we could sit and watch the river traffic. Sunset and sunrise were beautiful! Relaxing and serene. This was a one night lay over, but wouldn't mind spending a little more time, just relaxing. We could never get the Wi-Fi to work...don't know if it was the park's problem or ours. This is one of our favorite parks. Love sitting on the riverbank and watching the barge traffic. Good Wi-Fi and TV on the antenna. Free laundry room. Long level gravel and/or cement pads. Signs from the interstate to the park were very helpful and the road into the park is paved. This should be rated above a 10. I'm not a farmer, but I estimate there was at least 4 acres of mowed grass along the Mississippi River to walk in with no sand burrs. Benches on the river bank for watching the tug boats and barges. We saw several. The park has gravel drive ways and we had a level concrete pull through pad. Gravel was available. We have a 36 foot motor home with a toad and did not have to unhook. Great space between the pads. Water pressure was 40 PSI and our SurgeGuard had no faults indicated. Great speed on the WiFi. No cable TV was available. Maybe it was the time of the year, but we experienced no bugs, flies or mosquitoes. The staff was friendly and helpful. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

It's all about location. Just across the river from Memphis. This is a great base. Roads are gravel & pavement with gravel site pads (4" out of level at ours) and some concrete pads. Spacing is fair and a few are shaded. But most are out in the open, especially the riverfront sites. Campground was quiet. The office sold ice and they provided a laundry that was free to use. It's spotless with apparently new machines. VZW coverage was excellent as was the Wi-Fi. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed overnight in this campground. We chose a shady, pull-through site which is set back from the river. It was fine and easily accessible. The staff was accommodating, as we thought we might arrive early in the morning and they said we could take our site whenever we arrived even if office was not open. The popular area of the campground was the pull-through area near river on north end. There are a few trees in this area, but not near as shady as our area. The southern river area is no trees and had only 2 campers, if I recall, while we were here. It was HOT! If you were to spend daytime here during the summer, I don't think an awning would be enough shade. (At least not for us!) We spent very little time here as we drove into Memphis, so any site probably would have been fine. If we return, though, I would chose the river area on the north end. Seemed a little nicer. The back-in sites behind us seemed to be occupied by long-stay workers. They came home after work and were gone first thing in the morning. This campground is very convenient to Memphis and would be a perfect choice if you plan to be doing things in the city. Also, their bathrooms were great! Clean, AC, and great showers. They were individual so you get the whole room to yourself. Interestingly painted black, but nice and I bet that's easier to keep clean! There isn't a pool, but since we spent more time in Memphis and it was a short stay, the convenient location made it worth it. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were here for a couple of nights. Very pleasant. Staff was efficient, friendly, were ready for us. Location is convenient to Memphis area. Everything we wanted in a good campground was here, including a lot of room. I liked the campground layout. Although pads are about 10-feet apart, they are at a 45-degree angle so are never really close to your neighbor. We will be going back to be sure. We camped here in a Motorhome.

First let me say that we paid $234 for a week. We had a front row site on the river. The sites are very large and level. We have a 43 foot motorhome I would suggest to park towards the back of the concrete pad allowing yourself to have a very nice and large concrete Patio in the front of your RV. The people are very friendly. I had a flat on our tow vehicle and the maintenance staff fixed it for me with a plug. I did tip him well although it was not even expected I am sure. I have and will stay here again. There is not much to do here for the kids. It is very convenient to Memphis, but yet it is out of the city. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Huge Park with excellent pull through sites for big rigs. Great views of the Mississippi. Very large grassy area great for dogs. Had a river slot and enjoyed watching the barge traffic go buy while sipping a beverage. Very good access from the Interstate. Entry road is a bit rough but passable. Not as close to Beale Street in Memphis as they say: probably 20 minutes across the Bridge. Not much attractive in the immediate neighborhood. Had the worst Mexican food in recent history in a restaurant near the entrance. The rest is fast food. Stayed 2 days to see Memphis area and that was enough. Very nice for a stop over but not much on facilities at the RV park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a huge park with plenty of open spaces. We had a site along the river. Nice with a few trees. Very large sites and level. The only downside is you have to drive through an industrial area to get to it but then it is very rural. GPS may try to take you right into an energy storage facility on the last turn. Look up and to your left at that intersection and you will see the RV park sign. Watching the barges go up and down the river in a park like setting was really pleasant. Staff was friendly. This campground is not in Memphis TN but in West Memphis AR right across the river. We drove down to Beale St in Memphis in about 10-12 minutes so it is close. We would stay here again. This park is wonderful. Watch the barges all day while you use the free laundry. There is a pond for fishing, a separate waterfront for motorhomes and one for fifth wheels. Lots of open space. Sites were level and they pick up your trash a couple of times daily. Had trees for shade in the motorhome section, but still was able to get satellite. The kids loved it. Not very far at all to Graceland and Rendezvous BBQ. Will definitely stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great park, convenient to I-55, I-40 and downtown Memphis. 1/2 Mile of entrance road is a little rough. Sites are very spacious, with views of the river. Several acre grassy area for kids or dog walking. This park is big, although gravel road once you enter the park, owners keep the dust to a minimum. Every other site has a level concrete pad, making for easy leveling. Fantastic views of the Mississippi and steady barge traffic. Safe park away from West Memphis transients. This is a lovely quiet and very well maintained campground with full hook ups and 50 amps. The staff is very friendly and helpful and escorts you to your site. The road is gravel and is very dusty, but the pad is concrete, extra wide and long for a big rig and a towed. There is plenty of space and privacy around the RV, lots of shade trees, and a lovely walking trail all around the campground. The view over the Mississippi river is spectacular day or night; there is always something to watch. The bathrooms and laundry could be improved however. We could not get a Wi-Fi signal at our site. There are plenty of food stores, restaurants, and sightseeing close by. We would certainly stay here again, but because of the dusty road, lack of Wi-Fi, and poor laundry and bathroom facilities we could only give it a 7/10. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Be careful with your GPS directions. Follow signs and stay on wide roads to get there. The road is a bit bumpy and narrow as you approach the campground, but as soon as you enter the actual park everything gets wide and level. Park is located right next to the river and there are sites near the water and others farther away with shade. We chose a site near the water that was pull through and concrete. 50 amp service was great. Staff was helpful and friendly. We would stay there again. Easily accommodated our big rig. We were last here in 2006 and fell in love with the location - right on the Mississippi river flowing just outside of your door. Long, level pull through sites for easy set up. Good Wi-Fi but no cable available. Easy satellite acquisition. For the price paid, we got a nice concrete pad. Wish we could have stayed longer but we are on the way to the Grand Canyon. If you are in the area, spend a night or two. On a clear night, you might see Tom Sawyer and his friend, Huck, on a raft in the river. Or you might just stop drinking for the night. This park is a find. The reason why people buy RV's is because of parks like this. The people and staff were friendly. They guide you to your site. Loved the location being right on the river. It was entertaining to watch all the barge traffic. Wi-fi signal was a little weak, but better than some places I've stayed. Good water pressure and the sites have some elbow room. A picnic table is provided at each site. There is good satellite reception. My only complaint would be that the interior roads need some more gravel. Very dusty for your motorhome and toad. The nightly rate was based on a Good Sam discount. This is one of the very few times that I disagree with the majority of the reviewers. This was my first visit & was a major disappointment. The closeness to the Mississippi River is the only thing that is nice. The dirt & gravel roads are very dusty. The concrete sites is a concrete pad only. Every thing else is dirt, gravel or grass. It is not a nicely manicured park. There is nothing here except the river, a parking spot and utilities. No table at site. Sites were narrow. We camped here in a Motorhome.

OUTSTANDING Park! The only reason we gave them an 8 is because after the flooding, the campground is still recovering and then, it’s mainly the office facilities and such. Bathrooms and showers are clean and well kept, laundry facilities are also clean and well kept. AND, they’re FREE! These are commercial grade machines which do the job very well and did I say, FREE!? The grounds are very well kept and RV sites, spacious. The sites along the river are concrete and provide plenty of room even with all slides out. The physical grounds of the park is large and NOT packed with RV sites so that it looks like an RV condo. Water, electric and sewer hookups are easy, well positioned and work. Management folks are very nice, helpful and willing to do whatever they need to do to make your stay comfortable. (No, we don’t work for the park nor have any investment in it.) We originally planned on staying just for a couple of days on our slow trek back to Texas after touring the east coast. We decided to stay for the week and are enjoying every minute of it. We’re right on the Mississippi River. Interesting to watch the barges slowly making their way up and down the river. Some of them are HUGE. The parks is also close to Memphis, TN and activities there are within easy reach. Will absolutely return and make TSMRRV Park a stopover for any trips north east. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed for several nights while touring Memphis. It is literally on the Mississippi River. We didn't pay extra for a river front site, but we could still see it from our spot. The BEST part about this campground is the FREE laundry. While we were there, they were a bit short on laundry machines as the Mississippi had flooded, and they were repairing. I still didn't have any trouble doing several loads. It was a nice perk. The bathrooms were very clean and the staff was friendly. Wi-fi was a bit weak. The perk is the river front. The campground does not have a pool or clubhouse. It is close to a super Walmart and about 20 minutes to Graceland. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park is right on the Mississippi River. If there has been flooding on the Mississippi, you need to call ahead to be sure the park is open, as major flooding will cover the park. The sites we were on were concrete with FHU. This is a quiet park allowing you to watch the barges pass by day and night. You need bring your own entertainment if you are looking for more than barge watching and quiet. This is the second time we have stayed at the park. It is off the beaten trail but they have done a good job posting signage into the park. We would return to the park. Although we did not use the laundry, at the time of our visit the machines were free; highly unusual. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This RV park is still recovering from the extreme spring flood. The office clerk was friendly and helpful. The sites were spread out and all have at least a partial view of the Mississippi River. It is very convenient for visiting Memphis. The laundry currently has only 2 W/D but more are coming and it is FREE. After 15 years of by-passing this park 4 times a year in the fall and spring because we usually stay half an hour south in Tunica, MS, we finally stayed here. As noted by recent reviewers the park is still recovering from the historic May floods. I did not lower my rating because of unfixed facilities damaged by the flooding. The biggest negative right now is the loss of one bathroom (which makes one of the three distinct RV site sections of the park "bathroomless") and there are only 2 working washers and dryers (there were at least 6). As everybody says, the view is nice and watching the barges going down the river is interesting (but only for so long). RV parks in Caruthersville, MO and Vidalia, LA also have excellent river views and have better amenities. Except for possibly fishing and the aforementioned barge watching, there is nothing else to do in the park. Nice park to come back to after a day of sightseeing in the Memphis area. This park should get a 10+ for effort. In spite of being flooded out each spring, they are up and running and providing excellent services in the summer. They really took a beating this past spring. One shower unit was destroyed but there are two remaining and they are spotless. This is the only park where we have found free laundry with new machines!! There is good Wi-Fi but no cable TV. This is a great park. It has a rural ambiance yet is only 2 miles from the interstate. Everything was well maintained and very clean. The view of the river is wonderful. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only problems we encountered were lots of mosquitoes at night (on the river-bring bug spray). Keep in mind that this place was under 18 feet of water not to long ago. The entrance was scary, but after stopping at the office and being led to our concrete pad, we were very pleased. This RV park was recently under 16 feet of water due to the Mississippi River flooding. Only about a third of the park was open and there was no Wi-Fi, just full hook ups, though no price reduction for lack of amenities. Very nice office people and very helpful. Unfortunately, there is a lot of debris around from the flooding, but they are actively cleaning it up. We had a pleasant breeze the night we were here, but there were a lot of black flies, so have some bug spray. Our AT&T cell phones worked well and our Verizon MiFi worked OK as well. You could see the Memphis "M" bridge lit up at night from our site and that was nice. It doesn't always smell that great, but that's West Memphis: it always stinks. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Driving in we thought: what did we get ourselves into. The road is in bad shape, uprooted trees, large logs and debris everywhere. It seems they have just had their second major flood of the season and only one section of the park is open. No restrooms, laundry or Wi-Fi. All washed away with the last flood. However, the one open section was beautiful: right on the river, FHU/50amp, level, long concrete pads, with large grassy area's between sites and outstanding views of the river and barge traffic. A great destination park convenient to all the tourist places across the state line in Memphis. Siting right on the banks of the Mississippi there are times in the spring when the park is closed because of flood waters. Check their website before making plans. We were here between two flood closings, but the long pull-through, big-rig-friendly sites were dry. FHUs were well positioned, water pressure was good, but electricity spiked several times, once as high as 127 volts. Streets are gravel, but parking pads are level concrete with grass between the sites. Distance between sites varied but in all cases are adequate for enjoying the outdoors. Some sites are in the forest, but those along the river bank are good for those with roof-top internet satellite dishes as the trees are well spaced. There is a section for motorhomes so the windshield faces the river and another section for tow ables so the rear window faces the river. Good planning on management’s part. Staff was cordial and led us to our site. We are full-time RVers and lived here for only four nights, but we will return so we can sit on the river bank and wave at the barge captains. The park was just recovering from a flood earlier in the month; however, they had one side opened up. We enjoyed our stay here very much. We made reservations for the waterfront sites and had a wonderful view of the barges going up and down river. Checking in was very pleasant and everyone was extremely friendly. They do supply an escort to the site. We found it well worth the price and will return again many times in the future. We camped here in a Motorhome.

To be fair, we probably saw this park at its worst. It had rained heavily for days and a number of the sites near the Mississippi had quite a bit of standing water. We always worry about hooking up to an electrical pedestal that is standing in 3 inches of water! But we had no problems. The parts of West Memphis that we passed on the way to the park looked pretty bad, but the park is actually on the river side of a large dike that protects West Memphis from the river. So it is somewhat isolated from the areas we passed. We heard some noise from the tugs on the river, but it was fun to watch them, even in the rain. We probably would not return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is a great place to stay. We were right on the river and watched the boats go by. Really enjoyed the days we spent there and cannot wait to get back. One reason we love this place is there are many large sites and when we went to do the laundry we found it is free. All new machines. For those of us on the road for months or with kids it is a Godsend. It is only five miles from Graceland. Access to the park is a little tough. It is a very nice and clean campground. You can pick for a number of different types of sites, from back-in gravel to cement pad riverfront. All sites are wide and long. Besides the Mississippi River there are also a couple of ponds plus lots of well kept grass areas. Benches are provided along the river to pass the time and watch the barges go down the river. The staff was friendly, Verizon cell and data was good, and the WiFi was excellent. While the riverfront sites are great, if you are sensitive to noise the boat traffic on the river may disturb you. Wonderful park for adults but we did not see much for children here. We had reserved a river front site for 2 nights but had to change our plans several days before our stay and could not get a river front site. Our site was in the 3rd row back from the river but we could still see barges going up the river. It was one of the 3 concrete sites in that row but most of the concrete sites are river front. There were many fairly good size trees in this section but they appear to be placed so most sites, including ours, are able to get satellite. The parks Wi-Fi signals did not appear strong at our site but our Verizon air card worked well. We would return to this park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed for 2 days at this very nice, RV park on the river. All of the personnel were friendly and helpful. Great place for pets, convenient to shopping, etc. Our "river view" site was large and nice but our river view was blocked by other RV's in the adjacent rows. This is an absolutely wonderful park. Although interior roads are unpaved, the separate areas, large expanses of grass areas and long level pull through sites make for very comfortable stays. This campground is one of our favorites. Riverfront sites are concrete pads which makes it great for leveling. Very pet friendly, with a lot of walking area for both dog and owner. Just a great relaxing stay watching the barges go up and down the Mississippi. This was a second time here, and would come back again. They also have free laundry facility. Stayed here for a couple of days to visit the tourist attractions in nearby Memphis, TN. The entrance into the park is pretty narrow which might make it interesting when two big rigs meet from opposite directions. Fortunately that never happened with us. The park itself is nice for watching the tug boats pushing huge barges up and down the Mississippi. The park is divided into at least two sections one of which has several trees which may or may not cause satellite reception problems. The other section is treeless and I think the nicer section of the park. No mosquitoes this time of the year and we didn't see any of the other critters they warn you about. Poison Ivy is apparently a hazard in the park but wouldn't know what it looks like if I saw it. Great electrical and water pressure good. The park would have gotten a higher rating if they controlled dust better. The interior roads are dirt/gravel, and most of dust ends up on your coach and tow vehicle. The sites are concrete and level. We'd definitely come back again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Quiet, well maintained beautiful park right on the Mississippi river. We had a long, wide and level river view site on a cement pad with 50 amps and Wi-Fi. No cable but plenty of local channels. We were told that it would be difficult to get here, but found it very easy to find. There is a lot of space between each site and large expanses of lawns extending to the rivers edge. Wonderful for just relaxing and watching the barges traveling up and down the Mississippi. Memphis is a short drive away and there is a lot to do in that city. A very good park for our overnight stay traveling I-40 to East TN. It is immediately on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi where the passage of a barge going upstream gives you a long time to contemplate the fact that there are bigger things in life than anything troubling you. What a relaxing place to spend twilight. However, beware of the "Mosquito Crossing" sign at Registration. Since this is flood plain showing evidence of floods gone by, the Manager's caution to hit the repellent or stay inside is advice worth following. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This so far on our road trip is the most beautiful park we've visited! The staff are very cordial and helpful, trash pick-up is 3 times a day at your site, WiFi is excellent, it's BEAUTIFUL, and best of all the mosquitoes weren't the problem we thought they might be. The sites are well-spaced out, but they have room for many people. There are lovely benches to sit and watch the sunrise and the boats moving slowly down the Mississippi. Nice park on the river. Great place to see the tugs and barges moving up and down river. The roads are all gravel as well as most sites. You do have a small number of sites on front row that have cement pads to park on. Our site had water, 30/50 power with no dips in power, and two sewer drops. Site was very long, flat and level from end to end. Site could park two 40 foot rigs, end to end. Number of TV channels over the air. Verizon cell and air card worked well here. Wi-Fi was through out the park, fast, and free. Laundry machines were free of charge. Staff was nice at check in. Staff will take you to your site. Less a small amount of noise from tugs, park is noise free. Not a lot of lights on at night, great for sleeping. You have three fishing ponds in park. Staff will pick up your trash each morning on site. You have park benches to sit on down by the river. Flying-J, TA, and other truck stops at I-40 and I-55 for your fuel needs. Super Wal-Mart is less than five miles from park. Lot of places to eat near Wal-Mart. Roads from I-40 to park were great. Only small problem was dust off roads but this was due to no rain in long time. Rate was on Good Sam. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I'd give this park a 10, but they don't have a swimming pool. That doesn't concern me, but it might if you have children with you. The Internet is speedy, and we are a LONG way from the entrance. The laundry is free. We asked if they had anyone to wash our motor home who comes to the park, and we were told we could wash it ourselves at our site. That's a first for us. The view is fabulous of the Mississippi River with park benches positioned along the way. There are a number of concrete slabs and also gravel. We asked for a spot where we could get our satellite, and we had absolutely no problems. Like others have said, it is a bit off the Interstate, but it is such a nice park, it is well worth the short drive to get here. They don't have cable, but you pick up all the major networks from Memphis stations on your antenna. There are at least 2 large fishing ponds, and my husband did fish and caught this morning. This is one of the nicest parks we've found if you don't mind not having a pool or kid things around. We would definitely come back and even stayed an extra day here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The most impressive thing is the proximity to the Mississippi River. The sites were perhaps 50 feet or less. The shore was lined with benches and we were delighted to see tugboats in the am and pm pulling their massive barges. Gravel roads were relatively level, and there was a concrete pad to pull the coach on. I was not able to connect to their network, even though supplied with a password. The view makes it worth the trip. We paid $33.00 for our pull through site. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park was rather difficult to get to due to the construction on I-40. Once we arrived the site was very nice. We camped right on the Mighty Mississippi. The barge traffic was fun to watch. The bathrooms were dated but kept fairly clean. This campground does offer free laundry which is a nice perk. This campground is off the beaten path, but all the attractions, such as Graceland and down town are all within 15 to 20 miles. Well worth the drive to be out of the hustle and bustle. We like this campground. Only its lack of "resort" amenities like pool, playground, etc., reduces our rating score. We stayed in one of the river sections and thoroughly enjoyed watching the barge traffic. There's not a lot else to do at the campground, but downtown Memphis is a short drive away. The sites are reasonably roomy, clean, and level. Water, electric and sewer hookups are in excellent condition. The WiFi was unreliable and slow, but we were about as far from the office as one can get. Still, we hope it will be upgraded before our next visit, because we'll surely return. The first impression getting into this park was discouraging. I am glad we were not. There are three sections to this park. Because of the heat, we chose shade over riverside. One section has both shade and view. The owners have planned for the frequent spring flooding. New combo "bathrooms" have upgraded fixtures and are on ground level. Laundry rooms are on the second floor and would be difficult for some to climb. Appliances are the latest but took some time to figure out. It is easy to see how much the owners care and I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Might have given this campground a little higher rating if they had reinforced their quiet hours. Disappointing, we were here over the 4th and we had a really loud group from another area of the campground set up in the grass behind our camper setting off fireworks way past the 10pm deadline. The number they give you to report problem is only answered until 7pm! Given this, it is not a place I would stay again. We'll stick to the state parks where this is not allowed. This place is really something. I've read about this campground, and when you see a tug boat with ten barges within 200 yards it's a sight to see. We stayed very soon after they were flooded, and you could hardly tell this place was under water. Everything worked great! The park is still recovering from a round of river floods and the section we stayed in (backing up to the Mississippi river) had just been reopened. It was us and one other unit out there for the evening. The park probably has a lot of potential once they get it straightened out, but as it was, we were not impressed. They are working hard to clean it up though. Our dog did not like the "smell" of the land around the sight, guess it smelled too much like the muddy Mississippi for her. We had to take to another location in the park away from where we were parked to do her business and then we got attacked by mosquitoes (not unexpected due to the standing water in the area). Doubt that we will be back if we are ever in this area again unless we know for sure it hasn't flooded for a long time prior. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We agree with all the great reviews of Tom Sawyer RV park. The river is a site to behold and a little daunting when facing floods in the area. We planned to stay in this park for 6 nights while attending the music festival, but anyone that was here knows it rained like the bottom dropped out in this area. We awoke Saturday morning to tornado and flood warnings all around us. Looked out the window of the motorhome and the park was nearly empty. We called the office and the nice lady there said we'd be safer to leave the area, pronto. So we did a quick pack up and ran from the tornadoes. Could not run from the floods but were able to get through standing water on to the interstate and once there, we were able to stay ahead of storms. Not sure we'll get our 2 nights back but their concern for our safety along with the beautiful facility warrant a great review. Will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Price reflects the regular rate for a concrete pad site. CG is between the Mississippi river and the levee. Finally someone built a CG the right way! Wide open spaces with plenty of room, both at our site and in the recreation areas. There is about a 4+ acre field in the middle of the park and plenty of places to walk and view the river traffic. Our site was long enough to pull through with our 44' bus with 32' trailer. We stayed three nights, passing through, but would love to stay longer. We would definitely stay here again. This is a park I've wanted to stay in for a long time. I called and made reservations for two days. I was here about 2 minutes when I knew I wanted to stay longer. I went to the office, they refigured my bill, and I paid $189 for 8 days with discounts. WiFi is great. Laundry is brand new: opened the day I arrived in the section I'm in (cement pad on the river). I feel as though I have my own personal bathroom: brand new and spanking clean. Sink, toilet, shower, dressing area all enclosed in the same area. There are two of them in this section. The people who run the park are great, and very friendly. I've noticed a number of people washing their RVs, which to my husband used to be a great plus. Lots of big rigs here. Water pressure is very strong. I love sitting outside watching the river activity, reading a book, and taking walks. The park is immaculate. Garbage is picked up all day long. I'd stay here, again, in a NY minute. I have only good things to say about this park. If I were to think of one drawback, it's the area surrounding it, but I feel very safe in the park because of the security. I headed to Germantown to do some shopping, today. Very nice area. For groceries and drug store, I went locally and people were very pleasant. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We really enjoyed this park, 3 night stay. The views are incredible. The hookups were good, and easy to access. There is no cable, but there are lots of satellite friendly sites (just ask when making your reservation), the Wi-Fi was OK, a bit weak, but usable for email and such. We had a level concrete pad, pull through with more than adequate space. The owners/staff are friendly, check in was efficient and quick. Make sure you follow their directions, not your GPS. Trash is picked up several times a day from your site, and the laundry is free. What a treat. There is no pool or playground, so maybe not the best CG for families. We will definitely return. I have reviewed this campground before and wanted to update it. Discounts for FMCA, Escapees, Good Sam and Camp Club (seasonal) are accepted. Wi-Fi has been updated, now is all over the park and has a very good signal. Laundry is still free. River is high at this time of year but so far, no flooding. If you book for a week, one day is free. Still has wonderful views of river traffic. One of our favorite RV parks! We camped here in a Motorhome.

The rate quoted reflects a CCUSA discount (50%). The park has recently installed new internet access equipment, so it worked without a hitch. Things were a bit muddy as the river had flooded the park a few weeks prior to our stay. At check in, there is a sign that notes the river levels for the week as well as the level when the park must be evacuated. The bath houses were clean, but need some work. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Large campground, lot of room for walking the dogs. Don't rely solely on GPS to direct you to the campground - ours took us through some narrow residential streets. This is a nice park in a good riverside location though we felt that the bathroom facilities (if you need to use them) were poor. However, If you need wireless internet, you should be careful about which site you are on. We arrived on a cloudy. wet day and were placed on a "premium riverfront RV site". When we discovered that we could not get connected to the Wi-Fi, I asked at the office and was told by the young lady that "as it is a satellite based system, it doesn't always work in bad weather." However, when I moved nearer to the aerial and used my PC in the car, it worked!. So just be aware. Having said that, the staff in general were very pleasant and helpful and we would stay here again, but would pick our site to be nearer to the wireless aerial. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped right on the river and loved it. There were some pesky little bugs that looked like lady bugs; but are not and do bite. They kept getting in the coach the second day. Other than that and low water pressure, this park was great. The managers were very helpful and nice and the people staying in the park when we were here were extremely friendly. I think that is because the park is on the river more people tend to come out to sit or walk so it just seems like a friendlier park than many we have been in. Liked that they have benches all along the river so that if you take a long walk you can stop and rest or if you are just there for one night and want to use them instead of pulling out your chairs you can. Also convenient to I-40 and sightseeing in Memphis. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We reserved a concrete pull through on the river and received just that. Check in was easy and staff is friendly and helpful. Pull through sites are really spacious with lots of room between rigs. Wi-fi is free and worked great. Laundry is free and the laundry room is clean and modern with extra large digital washers and dryers. We travel with our dog, so the open field area and the trails were great. The view of the mighty Mississippi and ambiance of barges traveling up and down the river adds to the charm of this place. This park is unique in the fact that it resides adjacent to and in the flood plain of the Mississippi River between the river itself and the levee that protects the city when the river water level rises. That means that you and your RV are right next to the river and can watch the tug boats and barges from your back window if you have a 5th wheel or front window if you have a motor home. The park’s brochure said it had Wi-Fi throughout the park but I could not get any signal where I was parked. You can get TV service by using your RV antenna or satellite dish. Some of the sites have concrete pads and the other pads are gravel. The park had several days of major rain storms before we arrived, water was in puddles everywhere, and we could not get into or out of our RV without stepping in about on inch of water. The park has no control over the weather but does have control over the height of the RV pads. Park roads were gravel. The staff was friendly. We would stay at this park again. I rated this park an 8 because you can always improve. We had a site right on the river and it was great. We loved watching the river barges go by all day. The view from this park is outstanding, and we really liked the way the loops were laid out. We felt like we actually had some private space. The folks who manage the park were very friendly. You are escorted to your site, and the trash is picked up daily. Many sites have cement pads which is great. The turns in the loops are tight which means leaving ruts on the grass inevitable. My only negative would be that the bathrooms/shower need some work. We stayed in the 5th wheel section, and the toilet was so high off the ground it was a challenge. Also the shower is in the same place (there is only one toilet and shower in that area) and there are no hooks or chairs or bench to place your clothes. The laundry is free which is very nice, but it is above the bathroom and you must climb MANY steps to get to it - with all your clothes. All in all because of the view we would definitely go there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The evening was great and we had a front row seat to watching the Mississippi barges plying the river. It was great. The tour bus came to the campground and picked us up which was very convenient although I wouldn't rush to recommend the tour group. The campground staff were friendly and helpful. The campground was pretty soggy after torrential rains! It is evident that they are upgrading many of the sites. Tom Sawyer's is our favorite park when in the Memphis area. The location on the river makes it perfect for relaxing and watching the barges. The Wi-Fi signal had improved since our last visit and the road into the campground looked newly paved. Sites are level pull-throughs and depending on which row, they are concrete or gravel with great satellite reception and ATT phone coverage. The most unusual part of this campground is its location. You are right there, on the banks of the Mississippi. If Tom Sawyer himself, floated down the river on his raft, you'd be able to exchange waves with each other. If you don't see Tom, there are plenty of tugs pushing barges around to keep you occupied. Beale Street, in downtown Memphis, is 10-15 minutes away, and Elvis' house is about 10 minutes further. All in all, nicely located to see the sights. The staff is friendly and helpful. The laundry, is clean and, believe it or not, free. Why? The manager said that they don't want to beat up their campers with extra charges. Okay by me. Wi-Fi is free, but low in strength. We used our Verizon Air Card and it worked very well. A nice campground for an overnight or a few days. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great RV park! One of the best we have stayed in. Large pull through sites, many with beautiful views of the river. Very large grassy areas, well mowed. Lots of attention to detail by the operators. Easy trip over the bridge to visit old Memphis, Tennessee to listen to live blues. One of the best deals here is that you can order fresh German cooking, delivered to your door! We had fantastic hot wienerschitzel complete dinner two nights in a row. I believe it cost about $8 per person. We would definitely stay here again. I might even go out of my way to stay here again. This is a very nice campground: right on the Mississippi. There is no cable TV and the Wi-Fi had such a weak signal that we couldn't use it. But it was pretty spectacular to wake up on the Mississippi River. Lots of grass. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and when calling ahead for a reservation they took it based on my name alone. I didn't have to give them a litany of other information that's hard to do when driving. This could have been just as easily a 10. I had heard of this campground for years and just never stopped. This time I did and I am glad. This will give us another place to stay on the way east. We stayed here one night on the way through and what a treat! We selected one of the riverfront sites. After grilling outside we settled in to watch for tug boats and barges. We noticed that everyone disappeared into their RV's when the sun went down. The other poster was correct: numerous mosquito's attacked like Pearl Harbor. After making adjustments, we sat well into the night watching the tugs. Each site was angled to allow for a good view of the Mississippi. They have separate sections for motorhomes and 5th wheels to maximize their respective views. The only drawback at this park was limited Wi-Fi connectivity. We arrived late in the evening to a warm welcome and friendly help. The service was excellent, the site was well maintained and level. Our view was of the Mississippi River and spectacular! This was our second time staying at this park. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The view of the river is beautiful. We sat out for hours just watching the tug boats in the river and we even got to see two river otters too. The walking trails are great at night to see the lightning bugs. We paid the Good Sam discount rate for full hookups. This is a most unusual campground. One reaches it by driving up a road over the West Memphis protective levee to an area on the low bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. From those campsites (or from the bluff-edge benches provided) one can watch barge traffic being pushed up or down the river throughout the day. The river view campsites are all pull-through with full hookups, were well-graveled, but were treeless. The campground staff was hospitable and good humored. Very nice. Our back window overlooked the Mississippi, being just yards from the river's edge. There were dead trees stacked around from the May floods but just a reminder of how dangerous this river can be. We had a concrete pad but other site nearby were gravel. This campground is conveniently located close to Graceland and Beale Street. We initially reserved a front pull through site on the river. Upon arrival, we discovered that our site was in total sun. Seeing the temperature forecast for the week was for the high 90s, we requested to be moved to another pull through site along the river with shade trees. Since they told us that they could not accommodate us, we moved to a shaded site that was not on the river. In the week we stayed here, we noticed that they assign the river sites with shade trees (sites 40-76) to motor homes only, not to those camping in a 5th wheel. It didn’t matter if the motor home owner had reservations for one night, a week or a month. Speed limit is not enforced; roads and most sites are not paved which makes it extremely dusty. No cable. Overall, the campground needs a lot of TLC. This campground is not managed properly. Since laundry was free, it made our stay bearable. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed on one of the river view concrete pad sites. Fairly level, but we were in site 91 and it was a pretty tight turn to get in. The were recently flooded and were doing some repairs to the men's showers. No shade on these sites, so if you want shade you need to stay in one of their other areas. No cable, WiFi was spotty. OK for a couple of days. A lot of grassy area to walk a dog. Fairly convenient to Memphis, but the construction in the area on the roads was extensive and the road in generally bad repair, so if you're coming to Memphis any time soon be aware of this, it can cause significant delays. The park is constantly under repair and maintenance. If the Mississippi hasn't flooded the place and shut it down, it's a magnet for heavy rains and high winds. The maintenance department is constantly fixing roads, electricity, sites, moving limbs and while it's got a great view it doesn't offer much in the way of peace of mind. The folks who work here are terrific. We had so chane sites due to loss of electricity. We only left to find some of the restaurants we saw on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We called late to see if they had an overnight site, and they had 3 left. The girl that answered was very nice, and put our site number and info in an envelope on the bulletin board for us as we were arriving late. Watch out for the Summer mosquitos during the rainy season. The sites are RIGHT next to the Mississippi river, and it's really nice to watch the tugboats push the barges down the river. Make sure you use a EMS system, as the voltage fluxuates constantly, as our Progressive Portable EMS system shut our electric off several times during the night due to extremely high voltage. The roads are gravel, there is no pool, hobos living near the entrance, and there is very muddy and water filled holes along the roads. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We called ahead and were able to get a river-front site with a large concrete parking pad not 50 feet from the Mississippi River. Most parking pads, however, are gravel but all sites are level. We had been anticipating a stay at this campground for a long time after seeing it on this web site. Sometimes you set yourself up for disappointment with such anticipation, but not here. What a fabulous place! The sites right on the river simply cannot be beat. The price we paid reflects Good Sam discount. The sites number 66-76 are better than the other riverfront sites as they have trees. Drainage is a bit of an issue, although all the riverfront sites have cement pads. The sites are set up to maximize privacy and river view. All sites are pull-throughs. The combination individual restroom/showers are unisex and private, a little rustic but clean. This area does get flooded so they probably have to engineer for that. In addition to the beautiful view and convenient access to Memphis, the washers and dryers are free. We will definitely stay here again and try to come in a less rainy season. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were parked right on the riverbank giving a wonderful vista of the river traffic and downtown Memphis in the distance. A little bit noisy at night with the barge traffic and occasional train but we did get used to it. Because this area is quite low it's subject to floods and the roads to the pads have a lot of potholes but the staff is doing their best to keep up. Sites are level concrete but do pool water in heavy rains. We were early in the season so the area was somewhat drab. The park offers sites that are set up to allow the back end of the RV to face the river. Great for those with a rear living area and picture window. The roads are a bit rough, but it's the end of winter and they are working on them. The staff is friendly with a wealth of information about the area. There is easy access to either I-40 or I-55. It is a short drive over the river to Memphis, TN. I enjoyed my week here, and will return. They do offer discount rates for weekly and monthly stays. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We arrived after dusk on Sunday night and did a 'honor system' check in - got a sight right on the Mississippi River. It was a great view out the bedroom window watching the river traffic. The site was level, hookups and web access were perfect. Since we left early the next morning we didn't utilize the facilities, but there were a number of family-friendly features in the park. Very pleased with what we did experience. We camped here in a Motorhome.

One reviewer mentioned the barren landscape especially on the sites closest to the river. Apparently, the last snow-melt in Spring of 2008 brought the river up to the office and then some. The water line is still visible on the trees and sets about 5 or 6 ft off the ground. All of the sites closest to the river had to be evacuated. The flood took out most, if not all the trees. We visited in the dead of winter and stayed for a week, on the row nearest the river. It was delightful to see the sunsets over the river and watch the barge traffic lumber up and down day and night. Sturdy benches are proviced sporadically along the along the river's edge - a nice touch to watch the world go by. Some of the sites are gravel, some are cement (the cement sites are slightly more expensive). The staff is friendly and helpful. There is garbage pick-up at the site. The bath houses are older - clean enough, but kind of small and funky. New bathhouses are being constructed and should be finished up by late Spring. The sites are spaced nicely and quite long. There was plenty of room for our 36' 5'er and 1-ton dually (site # 100. Each site has a picnic table and fairly wide swath of grass on either side. The campground is quiet in winter, but usually jam-packed in Summer. Fishing is allowed (there are 2 small ponds on the grounds and of course, there is the river). Fishing licenses are required. Quiet and rustic - nothing to complain about. We'd surely stay again if in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I rated this CG down because of no cable TV. The park is very satellite friendly. Sites are pull-through facing the river for motorhomes and with the back to the river for fifth-wheels. Follow the parks written directions in because my GPS really wanted me to drive on a non-existent street over the river levy. Roads somewhat rough entering but were not too bad. We would stay here again as it seemed to be much safer than those parks around Graceland. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Had no problem finding the park with help from my Garmin GPS. Road into the park was a little rough (but understandable due to the area being flooded earlier this year). Pulled into the campground around 6:00 pm and setup in the dark. The moonlight on the Mississippi River was beautiful and we could hear the water flowing down the river. (Campsite was only 20 or 30 feet from the river). Saw many many Barges going up and down the river. Pretty nice. We really enjoyed ourselves. The view of Memphis at night was pretty awesome also. The best RV park I have been to so far. Great price, working internet, great views. The walking trails were amazing. Walking trails at a lot of parks are nothing to mention but this was as neat as the Mississippi barges to me. I wouldn't recommend doing anything in West Memphis, but I think most people here are planning on Memphis anyway. You do drive through low income neighborhoods and industrial roads, but once you get to the park you are very isolated from this. Only a 15 minute drive to downtown is great. All of the workers were very nice as well. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice park, beautiful location. We had one large airplane come over on take-off before dawn, but that's all. Wi-Fi was weak, and we were too far from the base to use it. We originally planned to stay here 8 days and extended it twice for a total of 13 days. There is plenty of open space, and easy assess to the site. There is a very helpful, friendly staff. It is a short distance to Memphis for barbecue lunches and then a return for a relaxing evening watching the barges and towboats on the Mississippi. There were clean restrooms, and a free laundry. Very nice park. We parked in a 5er. They have separate sites for Motorhomes and trailers. Roads are pretty good, some sites have pads but most are graveled and fairly level. The front row is right on the river for good barge viewing. Nice new laundry included in the fees. Large grassy area for throwing balls etc. No shade nor fire rings but do have tables. A fantastic location! We camped here for several nights after reading reviews here, and were not disappointed. We had one of the "front-row" sites which back up angled to the river, perfect for our large rear window view! The bathrooms are quite funky, but since most sites are full hook ups, that wasn't as important a deal as it sometimes is with us. Laundry facilities (FREE!) are new and really good. But our favorite part was watching the barges move up & down the river. We only met one staff member but she was friendly & helpful. Spent 3 nights here in all kinds of weather and loved it. We pulled in here to wait out hurricane Ike. We had a front line spot right on the bank of the Mississippi River. An absolutely fantastic view. The sites are angled well for a starboard side view of the river. The other side of the campground is set up to accommodate 5th wheel views out the back side. We had a shade tree which still allowed for satellite reception. The site also allows washing of the vehicle which we took full advantage of. The site we were on was concrete so things did not get all muddy. We spent much of the time watching the riverboat traffic going up and down the river. A very peaceful setting. We found a site on the internet that had pictures and descriptions of most of the riverboats and enjoyed looking up their names and descriptions when they passed by. We even saw the "Mississippi" river boat which is the largest river boat "pusher" ever built in the U.S. Don't rely on your GPS to guide you in. Their directions (Garmin and reportedly others) are not up-to-date. Call the site's office for directions, you won't be sorry. There is a new road that has been built that makes it VERY easy to get to their site. If you use the GPS directions you'll be driving through a nasty part of town. Overall, a very pleasant stay and we would definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

What a lovely, peaceful place. We had a site two "rows" back from the river. Also, close enough to down town Memphis and all that has to offer. There are several seasonal or permanent units but they are very well kept. The office staff is very friendly and helpful. This is one of the nicest places we have been in a long long time. Free laundry is a nice "touch". When I asked why they offer that I was told they don't like to "nickel and dime" their customers! That speaks volumes about the mind set of the owners here. We booked this campground while evacuating from Hurricane Gustav; and was pleasantly surprised and overjoyed at our camping stay here. The staff was fantastic; friendly and easy to get along with. The free laundry was a wonderful surprise and a very clean spot. The wifi wasn’t working well while we were camping here; when it was functional, it operated at a very slow crawl. The sites were clean and level; mostly pull through therefore easy to access. Our site had more than enough space for our party, 3 adults, 3 children, and 2 dogs. We just pulled into this CG today, and it's been very nice. I'm sitting here doing my free laundry while I write this review, which is a nice feature of this campground. I felt like this was a little overpriced, even with Good Sam, but if you figure the $10 worth of laundry, it balances out, and I don't have to lug a bunch of quarters around. As has been stated in the other reviews, the only downside here is the entrance. The road could use a little paving work, and the big rigs at the front could just use a fence in front of them, but the area where the campers go is well manicured and clean. W/S/E worked fine, good water pressure and the electric was clean. We chose a concrete site over by the water and it was fun seeing the tugs. Wifi is sketchy, I'm using it now while I'm in the laundry by the front office, and very low signal. I'm sticking to my verizon card while in the camper. Overall, a very nice area to camp in and we're 20 minutes from Graceland and 15 from the Civil Rights Museum, and feels like we're a world away in the woods. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

If your a transportation buff, then this is your place. Tugboats in front of you, planes overhead and trains behind you. Actually, it was pretty quiet considering all the jets, trains and tugs roaming around. These sites are very wide and long. If they had Wi-Fi, I didn't know it and the signal was no where to be found. It is easy access to the CG off I-40, good wide roads getting there and safe (despite driving around a ghetto). The owners are very friendly and helpful. The CG itself (the pull through sites anyways) are clean and have nice grassy areas next to them. The entrance and area around the office is an eye sore. It kind of reminds me of a junkyard with equipment, small buildings, sheds, etc., scattered all over in a hap hazard arrangement. Other then that, we would come back again. Its a great overnight place to stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We really enjoyed this campground and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who wishes to visit Memphis. Beale St & the downtown attractions are less than 10 miles away & Graceland is a short 20 minute drive. There is also a Kroger grocery & Wal-Mart a short drive away. The campground is only 3 miles off of Highways 40 & 55 and is exceptionally quiet at night: no freeway noise here. The river is very busy with tug, barge & ship traffic: watching it was a great way to spend an afternoon. The river front sites are paved & long enough to accommodate rigs that don't want to unhook their vehicles or trailers. The campground is set up in 3 loops each loop contains a bath house building that has 2 washers & 2 dryers: which are complimentary. They also allow you to wash your rig & vehicle in your camp space, a real plus for us as we are fulltimers and the washing of rigs is not usually allowed. You can also have your mail delivered here and they will bring it to your site!! Can't recommend this campground enough and we will definitely be staying here if we return to this area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stopped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park the day they opened after having been flooded for several weeks. They were busily cleaning up as quickly as they were able. Even with the mud and river debris still in evidence, we thorougly enjoyed our stay at the park. As previous reviewers noted, the view and ambiance of the river is worth the price of admission. We did not encounter or notice any untoward behavior in the surrounding neighborhoods. Looked to us like those neighborhoods are home to hard working folks who like to take their leisure visiting with neighbors on the front porch or stoop. We would definitely stay at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

They led you right to your spot and helped you park. Trash pickup is continuous. Anytime they are by, they pickup any trash. Level concrete pad. Kind of neat watching the tugs and barges on the river. I was told WIFI was down when I checked in. A tech was working on it and should be up in 2 hours. It was. They have two catfish ponds. We really enjoyed our stay here. The campsites are ample in size, a wee bit close together, but not bad. They have a good sized cement pad with picnic table. We got snowed in and had to stay an extra day. They were accommodating in letting us stay the extra day and pay on our way out so that we didn't have to unhook the trailer. The staff showed us to our site. When we had electrical problems, they came quickly to help us figure out it was operator error. We enjoyed watching all the tugboat and barge activity. We were parked right next to the river. WiFi was exceptionally good. The TV reception (air) was good as well. The grounds were clean and well-kept. Great park for 'big rigs' although I was a little uncertain on the ride in, mostly because it was already dark and the road is heavily wooded. It was such a pleasant surprise to wake up and look out on the river and watch the tugboats and barges go by. We stayed here while visiting in the Memphis area. Had a waterfront site and it was a perfect location and view. Did not use any of the facilites on site, so can't comment on those. Sites are roomy with plenty of parking for tow vehicle. Added bonus - there is an ice cream truck that comes through at night! I think the adults enjoyed chasing it down more than the kids did! We camped here in a Motorhome.

If you are using a GPS it is probably a good idea to call ahead, because Andrea, or someone working in the office can give you better directions to get to the park. Coming down 8th street is creepy. (as another member posted that they almost turned around). We really enjoyed staying in this park. We were on a concrete pad, with plenty of room for our toad. They have worked on their Wi-Fi, and we didn't have any problems. We also had great satellite and antenna reception. If camping by the river in summer, we definitely recommend plenty of insect repellent. (this is a common problem all over Arkansas). We plan to return there sometime. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As mentioned, the entrance road is terrible. If we hadn't be pre-warned by your reviews, we would have turned around before staying because of their road. Once in, our stay was great on site #66 (pull-through). Beautiful setting on the river with level concrete sites. FREE laundry was a big plus since we are full-timers. This park is directly on the Mississippi River and has made significant upgrades since our last visit two years ago. It is very big rig friendly with pull throughs that do not require unhooking the tow. Class A's are in one section with C's and 5th wheels in another. Roads and sites are gravel with grass between. Garbage is picked-up three times at day at your site. All sites point toward the River. Landscaping improvements make this a very beautiful campground. This is a GREAT rv park. The road coming in will have you thinking "what am I getting myself into"? Suddenly the park looms up in front of you and a large smile will cross your face. Visited on way west and on return trip without reservations. On trip out weather was great and was able to use the large camp sites and view the river for two night stay. On return trip, heavy rain resulted in four inches of water in the gravel, second row site. Not a big problem for a nights rest. All sites on the river bank are super big rig friendly and concrete. WiFi was too weak in our site to be effective. Will continue to use this campground when in the area. If you want a front row, I advise reservations. They recently added a new section to the park. It is right on the river so we had a close-up view of the Mississippi. Our site was a long, level, paved concrete pull-through. Beautiful! The free WiFi was not really usable in the new section. We think they need to add another antenna in that area. One negative is the entrance road: it needs serious work! WIFI is poor: I went all around the park and got no better than two weak bars, even directly under the antenna. We could not use WIFI while at this park. If you advertise WIFI, have it fully functional. Tom Sawyer did not! Only one bathroom and shower (meaning one shower and one commode) for all 80 sites. When someone is using the shower it also locks out the bathroom, and vice-versa! Somewhere close by is a huge NASCAR racing track. Check out the schedule before you go, the sound is horrible, and it went to almost ll PM that night! We stayed at Tom Sawyers due to the tremendous reviews at RV Reviews. This is a very nice park right on the Mississippi. It has easy access to downtown Memphis and also to I-55 and 40. Most sites were pull throughs with excellent shade. They are in the process of adding a lot more sites. The bathrooms look a little dirty from the outside, but they are great inside. If you stay here, try to get a site overlooking the river. What a great park - the owner was lovely - enthusiastic, helpful and obviously enjoyed helping people enjoy their stay! Suggested we parked our rig the opposite way to maximise views of the Mississippi River! Beautiful views all round. Right on the banks of the Mississippi River. I you stay near the river there is no shade and the WiFi is weak. Even with a high gain antenna the download speed is VERY slow due to the fact it is through a Directway satellite. There were times that a dialup would have been much faster. Great location on the Mississippi River!! Reserve early for a river front site. It is amazing to watch the river traffic. The river front sites have a concrete pad and picnic table but little shade. It is conveniently located to Memphis and the access road is in good shape. You will be just off I-55 and I-40. I think it is worth a stop even if you are not planning on touring Memphis. (Note the Gibson Guitar Factory Tour and Sun Records Tour are must sees.) I only wish they had cable TV. Also the laundry facilities are truly free and very clean. We camped here in a Motorhome.

First impressions aren't everything. Pulling into this park you doubt your choice, until you reach the office and see the mighty Mississippi and the sites facing it. You can watch the river traffic from your picnic table, or sit on a bench and enjoy the view. Easy access from interstate and into Memphis, friendly staff and park is clean. The bathrooms were suites with shower and toilet and sink. These were very clean. The laundry facilities are free! The river view is nice, but the shaded area is cool. While the drive to the park seems like it is a long way away, it is only a few miles from the town. It is relaxing to watch the barges go by. The only thing that would be nice is a swimming pool. Access road is in very poor condition, but worth the trip in. Try to get site on the river (advance reservations needed). They are building more on-river sites. The only reason to stay here is to see the Mississippi River. No pool or other activities. Short drive across the river to Memphis. Gravel sites are mostly level. This place is a little hard to find but the view of the River once you get there is worth it. You can sit on park benches and watch barges moving up and down the Mississippi all day. The newer section of the park has concrete pads and WiFi. The older sites are shady and border woods with trails. The laundry was free for guests when we last stayed here. You will have to drop your toad to go shopping but there are two grocery stores and a Wal-Mart nearby. Also, they are very dog friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful place to relax! The hosts are very helpful. The only problem are the bugs that appear at sundown. Take plenty of bug repellent and you will be fine. We loved our visit and have already reserved a spot for June. This is a must stop. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Best kept secret near Memphis, Tn. Great place to stay. Restrooms, though unisex, are extemely private and clean. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Great views of the mighty Mississippi River. Long, pull through sites are paved and level. Great place to stay while visiting Graceland, Peabody ducks etc. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This well-managed and beautifully maintained RV park is within yards of the Mississippi River. Call in advance to reserve a front row site and watch barges as they travel up and down river (some campers might find the noise intrusive). Sites close to the river have little shade. Monthly rates are available in the older loop, set back from the river in the shade of a grove of trees. This is one of our favorite commercial campgrounds, with easy access via I-40 to the city of Memphis, TN. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped here based on reviews from this website and we were not disappointed. Having camped all over the country for over 20 years we can say one thing for sure about this one: it is very unique. You are not just "near" the river, you are right on it. It is really neat to watch all the river traffic chugging up and down the river. There is certainly no road noise, but you do hear the tugboats. The office staff was very friendly and the park was very nice. Concrete pads, full hookups, and yes, a FREE laundromat. We will stay here again when passing through. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We went to this park because of the reviews on this website and weren't sorry. We got to park on the bank of the river, watched the barges go up and down the river, and were totally charmed. In fact we extended our stay by one night. Didn't do a lot of sightseeing, the park was enough for us. We were welcomed by the new manager ( who'd stayed at the park for a week, went home and retired and came back to manage the park) and felt like he really meant it. Every person we talked to make us feel welcomed. And yes Virginia, there really is free laundry. I had a hard time believing it but it was true. I would definitely go back there and stay, but for a longer period of time. By the way, take exit 280 off of I-40 and it'll take you right there. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This has got to be one of the nicest campgrounds we have stayed at in our almost 2 months on the road. We have a beautiful view of the Mississippi River in front and a small lake behind. The road in is a little rough, but not really a problem. The staff are extremely nice and helpful, bringing us to our site and picking up our garbage when left out by the road. The laundry is free here, a big plus. There are few shade trees which could be a problem in the warmer months and there is no propane on site. Also, no cable tv or WiFi would be a problem for those without alternatives. Some sites are gravel while others are concrete pads, most seem pretty level. There is some noise from trains and the river boats, but not to much. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The access road does need some work. All esle is gravel and smooth. The pads near the river are cement. Guided to site. Friendly folks and a very peaceful area. Good base camp or over night IF you get there early enough to enjoy the view. Not much boat traffic on weekends. Rating is based on value for what is provided. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Yes, this park is out of the way but the directions in trailerlife were clear. The entrance needs improvement but once you are in the park it is nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The large shade trees were placed so that the motorhome got shade yet access for the satellite disk on the front of the motorhome got reception. Great site planning and right on the river. Extended our stay We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is great for overnight or to visit Memphis. Very long pull through sites with a concrete pad for your rig sit right on the levy with a view of the Mississippi. Private baths and FREE laundry make it a best buy. Lots of overnighters so call for a reservation. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Wonderful view and easy access. The owners were great and very helpful. Only problem was that right after sunset the bugs came out! Make sure you bring bug repellent and you will be fine. The barges did not present any trouble with noise and everyone appeared to enjoy watching them. We will come back again! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

My wife and I stayed here before and after, the owner's daughter graduated from Harvard. We thought it super that he gave his daughter a reward celebration. All campers were warned of the bands coming in. All campers were invited to join in and have fun and invited to a catered BBQ. This was one of the best places we stayed on a month long trip. The view was fantastic. The place was clean. We liked it so much we stopped by on our way back and stayed another three days. The managers bent over backwards to keep everyone happy. We stayed 5 nights, the park is clean, neat and has a great view of the Mississippi River. The park owner had a live band for his daughter for two nights. The last two nights we stayed. The ten o'clock quiet hour was not observed, the bands, 3 per night, got louder not quieter at 10PM. When the manager was called at 11PM the second night she said she couldn't do anything about it. I observed several drunk underage kids walking up and down the roads. We will not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very unique private RV park located on the Mississippi River between the levee and the river bank. We were very fortunate in that our site was a pulltrough within 125 feet of the river. We were able to watch barge traffic on the river. This park is close to downtown Memphis with easy access by Interstate Highways. Access problems to the park are now a thing of the past with a road that parallels the levee and loops aroung the "bad" neighborhoods. A must visit. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is such a wonderful place,the river view is amazing. The area coming into the park is pretty rough but is to be changed soon. We love this park and have come back time and again. The Managers are seniors and are a riot. During the rain it is muddy as is the entire area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is way out of the way and sort of scary getting to it, if you don't go the new back way. This place could use an overhaul for sure. What this RV park lacks in amenities it makes up for in the view. We were right on the river which made for a spectacular view. Most of the sites had concrete pads and were level. There were no fire rings, grills or wifi, however each site had a picnic table and grass area. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. The staff was friendly and took us to our site. What a view! In certain sites, The Big Muddy is literally just yards from your RV. Some people actually complained about the noise from the passing huge river barges, but it made us feel as if we were in a modern day Samuel Clemens novel. The sites were long, and adequately wide, with good voltage. A recently new road to the campground avoids a rough railroad crossing, and a rundown neighborhood. It's a very short trip back across the Mississippi River to Memphis, but again, what a view. We will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The drive in scared us, but once we arrived at the park, we were comfortable. I hear that there is a new way in that bypasses the bad neighbor The restrooms appeared brand new in 2003. This is a pleasant and convenient place to stay for the Memphis attractions. The new road from the M. L King exit on either I-40 or I-55 makes it easy to avoid having to look too closely at the "ghetto's [sic]". The park is on the river side of the levee, and it looks like the buildings can be removed without a lot of stress if the place floods.
Thus, they are not grand or elegant. When we were here, the staff was friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed our stay. The night time trains seem to blow their horns throughout the length of the entire town, but it wasn't too much of a problem for us. We would return happily. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The new road is open, but the campground seems rather lacking in maintanence. The grounds resemble a mud bog. The staff was rather rude and their modem hook-up is now located at a former site in the open. You are expected to plug in while balancing your laptop in your other hand and retrieving your e-mail while standing there between 2 active sites. Will not stay again. The river views are nice, but after the first several barge and tug combo's go by and you realize that they will be going by all night, with the accompanying noise the charm wears off real fast. We camped here in a camper.

While the route to the campground is through an unappealing section of town the campground has a safe feeling to it. A new highway will allow you to avoid this approach. It should be finished this fall. Sitting on the Mississippi

Beautiful view of river and decent park is ruined by the fact that you have to drive 3 miles through horrible ghetto's with drugs and prostitution to get to the park. Next door to police training and gun range meant we were awaken at 7:00 am by a volley of gunfire. Quite unnerving. We camped here in a camper.
