On the plus, the owners/hosts are wonderful people who made sure everyone was safe and happy. They kicked out someone who did a burnout on the gravel. They did a number of extra things for us that we're incredibly grateful for. The park is well maintained, it is all gravel but there is a LOT of forested areas. I think tenters would really like as some tent-only sites were really cool and tucked away. Very casual place and never had any noise issues, neither with others nor about us as we like to stay up and talk (no music of course). On the downside, as with most of SSI, the driveway down is really steep (gravel), and hard to see speedbumps. An SUV with a tent trailer got stuck on the speedbump trying to leave and had to get towed out (I think the host did this). There isn't much to do at the campsite. We walked it in about 15minutes. Tried biking into Ganges but its a steep driveway and then a long downhill to Ganges. The ride back was terrible with kids and narrow roads and no bike lane. We were lucky with relatives on the island to visit/cart us, otherwise we'd may have been bored or had to take taxis. Overall, definitely recommend campground as it is nice, quiet, and hosts are the real article. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Small, well kept park about l mile out of Ganges on Saltspring Island. No pavement but well maintained road access. Fairly steep hill down into park. No cable TV, but very good antenna TV reception and good Wi-Fi. Sites are extremely private, a bit tight to get into, but well defined with split cedar fencing designating your site. Extremely quiet. It was a great stopover and we will be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Access road is a fairly steep gravel road. Long or big rigs might have some concerns. RV sites with full hookup are in sunny locations while the electric & water only sites are in the forest shade. Many sites on a loop for tents or small RVs that do no need hookups. Attractive landscape with split cedar fence surrounding many sites. Our site (#45) was a level gravel space at least twice the size of most typical private ones. It contained a table and fire ring. No cable TV, but plenty of digital channels from antenna. Wi-Fi signal was strong. Friendly owners who had the time to chat with us about their park. I would definitely return here again as it is the best campground on Salt Spring Island. We camped here in a Motorhome.
