We started our first night at the RV Park in the city (Prince Rupert). It was an experience all right. Needless to say we moved to Kinnikinnick Campground in Port Eward after speaking to the tourism center. The 10 min drive to kinnikinnick is worth it just for the incredible ocean view along the drive alone. We arrived at Kinnikinnick and were warmly welcomed by the manager. We were shown several sites to choose from. The sites are all different so we picked one that was perfect for us. Across the street is a small convenience store where we picked up the basics, had a bit of lunch and then went for a stroll down by the ocean. It was great. That night we bought an arm load of firewood and sat outside listening to the calls of at least a dozen different night birds as we recounted our years together and the raising of the children. A most pleasant evening. The next day we went down and threw on some laundry and took showers. The shower rooms and bathrooms were very clean and new. We spoke to a number of other guests as we waited for the dryers to finish drying. I think the positive attitude of this park just attracts all the best people. We exchanged emails and went down to the Cannery Museum (just down the road from Kinnikinnick). It was a wonderful time, we had lunch there. Thank you for helping make our trip perfect. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

It is a great location if using he ferry system, however, sites were not level. If past 35' (we were) you had to occupy two sites and were charged an additional $5. One of the two shower facilities was and had been closed. The RV dump was in a very difficult location and most people were using a pull through site. Will avoid this site in the future. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

Where do I start! The bathrooms are locked. You have to go in and get the key each time you need to use one. After all that the bathrooms were not clean enough for me to feel comfortable using. The park is just a big field with unlevel, wet sites. The only attraction (adjacent hiking trails) are blocked off and closed. The base price for a night stay is far too high for what you get (over $30 a night), and it goes up for a myriad reasons. I'm sorry but I can't recommend this campground. The manager told us that he is the "only show in town". When we complained to the tourism office the next day they pointed us to another campground 10 min away, which was much better. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a basic campground; the best thing about it is that it's right outside the Alaska Marine Highway System terminal so it's convenient if you're taking the ferry or getting off one. The owner seems pleasant and accessible. There is serviceable but not great Wi-Fi but no satellite internet access (at least for us). There is some confusion about the name of the campground, with some databases showing it as Park Avenue RV Park, but it's the same place. Don't know if it's in the process of changing the name or if it goes by both names, but it's a bit confusing. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
