Yes there is a view of the glacier. For 5ers you need to go in backwards to have the view out your back window. Sites are a bit uneven and sewer can be an uphill climb depending on how you park. Nice little family run park with a $1M view. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice small private park with a glacier view - thus the name. We had a just long enough pull through with 30/water/sewer. Some road noise, but still quiet at night. Owners keep the grounds looking clean and well kept. Beautiful flower beds along the common areas. We would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Our site was nicely landscaped with a variety of flowers. Owners also have several newly constructed cabins that are very "Canadian" and are offered at reasonable rates. A great opportunity to get out of the camper into something larger for a change. A great view of the mountains and glacier. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
Lovely little park! Nice large spaces, well maintained. WiFi adequate for checking mail, etc. Staff was friendly and helpful, not to mention hard-working. Bathrooms spotless, as was the laundry room. Great view of the glacier and surrounding peaks! Would stay here anytime! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very clean park with a great view of the glacier. Nicely kept up and nicely manicured. Lady running the park is very nice and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again and make it our choice if in the area. Great price for service. We paid $24 full hook ups. WiFi did reach our RV in spot 5 along the fence and was good enough to retrieve mail which was all we needed. Consider this park you won't be disappointed. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice and quiet. Very few vehicles and trains at night. Showers are very clean and and water pressure is good. The WiFi needs help as we were right next to the office and even with only a few people in the park, we had difficulties with connection speed, really slow at times. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The namesake glacier view is lovely, and there are enough trees and greenery to give the park a natural feel. The gravel roads and sites are plenty long and wide. The bathrooms, with plenty of hot water and soft music, might be the most peaceful and soothing in BC, despite being a bit small and dark. Water, sewer and electrical hookups are convenient. The Wi-Fi signal is strong, but the Internet connection is very slow. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed at this campground going to and from Alaska May of 2011. We really enjoyed the site and loved the view. We went to Saturday market day and was wowed by the collection of vendors. The lady was working very hard to keep the park clean and was very helpful. We highly recommend this park to everyone. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Small park but very nice with a view of the glacier. The owners live on site and are very friendly. Laundry clean but a little high priced but better then looking for one in Smithers. Each site has nice picnic table and fire ring with wood available. Wi-Fi works well but they limit you to the sites you can visit. They lock you out of downloading updates such as virus updates and going on facebook. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice campground: grass, trees, fire pits and tables at each site. Initially Wi-Fi did not work, but when I talked to the owner, she reset the modem and we never had another problem (we were here for 3 days). We were able to pick up a couple TV channels with our antenna. Great view of the mountains and a glacier. The office is not consistently staffed, so unless you have a reservation, you will have to hunt down the owner to get checked in. If you have a reservation, there is a self-check in procedure. There was some noise from the highway, but it wasn't intrusive. We would stay here again if in the area We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice clean park. Tent sites are in back, slightly sloped. Showers/restrooms were clean. WiFi had just been reinstalled, so took a few tries before owner got it working, but was then fine. Nice glacier view. Friendly staff. We camped here in a Tent.
Park is located on a frontage road close to highway, but little noise overnight which did not bother us. Easy in & out. Friendly owner at check-in. Free WiFi, however it seemed intermittent some of the time. No cable TV, but good reception on a couple of channels with our antenna up. Gravel pads with rough grass and weeds, picnic tables. Nice view of the mountains. Clean washrooms. Has a wildlife exhibit across the highway and it's a short drive into town. Diesel prices were the same as most locations along highways 97 & 16. Recommended for an overnight stay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice overnight stop with easy in and out. We had a pull through site and didn't need to unhook. The Wi-Fi was good. The rate is $25 in Canadian cash. They do take credit cards. The laundry was neat and very clean. It's located about 6 miles from town, and has a little highway noise. Very friendly owner. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We used this park for an overnight stay only. It had easy access, good power, excellent wi-fi in the coach, plus we were able to receive our Directv. Price charged was for Canadian in cash. The owner was helpful and pleasant. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Glacier View RV Park was well maintained, the manager was very friendly and the glacier was directly across the road which made for nice scenery. My wife did use the handicap restroom and she said it was very clean, the shower was large and well equipped for the handicapped and there was even pleasant piped in music. This park is near the town of Smithers which made shopping easy. The entrance to the park was very accessible and well marked on the highway. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice RV park about 8km west of Smithers. Awesome view of the glacier. Clean, warm washrooms with "calming nature music," laundry with book swap. Grass and trees. Dish washing room, handicapped shower. Cabins also available. Horseshoes. Wi-Fi is free but slow. Some road noise. Fire pits and picnic tables. Quiet except for the road. Nice host. Great vibe. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed for one night on our way through the area, and enjoyed our stay. The campground is mostly in a large grassy area, so there is no shade to speak of. The hookups worked without any problems. I did change the WIFI setting to YES, because it was available, although it seemed to be via a satellite dish next to the host's trailer so might go away at some time. The WIFI was good for normal use. There is a very nice playground for children. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice park, large grassy areas for kids to play. Nice common room. Washrooms sparse, but very clean. Camp hosts extremely accommodating and friendly. Lots of mosquitoes. The ads for this park state that it has Wi-Fi, but it does not. Even so, I'd stay here again. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
Site was a 15 amp long gravel/grass back-in. It is possible to pull through on sites in the middle, but only through an another empty site. The campground is located on a grass field. The only river sites are small and appear to be for tents. Most of the original gravel pads have grass growing in. The sewer outlet was a below ground connection which made it awkward to get a tight fit with our elbow connector. Our electric post was controlled by a breaker on another site post and the attendant had to turn it on for us. I noticed there were only a couple more sewer sites so if you want full hookups better reserve. Most electric sites were 15 amp, but there was a row of 30 amp sites. Each site had a table and fire grill. The tables needed to be refinished and painted. The shower house is now finished. There was one flush toilet and two showers on the men’s side and they were not clean. As well there were some pit toilets around the campground perimeter. Previous mention was made of getting to the campground via Main Street. If driving into Smithers from the east one can turn off at King Street to access Main Street as well. No cable TV, but received four different channels off the air. Wi-Fi worked well when it was on. Attendant advised he had to continually reboot the system. There are some good trails in the park that access another park up the hill and residential areas of town. Cookhouse available for campers if not already reserved. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This nicely groomed public park is in a quiet location on the edge of town directly on the Bulkley River. It provides good utilities, free firewood and generously sized level grass sites. The Wi-Fi was fast and good while present but vanished completely at times. A few TV channels were available via antenna. No public showers were available due to construction. A central structure with picnic tables, wood stoves and sinks was clean and inviting. We would be happy to stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A bit overpriced considering the lack of amenities. The toilets are pit toilets and there are no showers for now. Construction of showers and flush toilets began in May, 2011 and are still waiting to be completed. 30 Amp electric was weak. When we turned on the microwave, voltage at our site dropped to 108 volts. Good water. Sewer connection easily accessible. All grass, back in sites. Big enough for the largest rigs with multiple slide-outs. Park manager will come around to collect the fee: cash only, $26 Canadian as of June, 2011. Poor signage from town to the campground, but easy to find. Take Main Street 8/10 of a mile northeast through a residential area of town to the campground. Entrance will be on your left. Numerous walking trails throughout the area and along the river which is next to the park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nice location in the trees by the river. They have both pull-through and back-in sites. They have common utilities for 2 sites which make it very difficult for every other back-in site. The roads are mainly dirt which was dusty while we were there. The Wi-Fi was very strong and fast. The PAR 3 golf was a quite challenging 18 hole course with the river adjacent to several holes. They also have a driving range. We would stay again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I'd probably give this park an 8 or 9 if the bathrooms were better. The grounds are well maintained and attractive, but the bathrooms are a mess. They don't appear to be cleaned regularly, and when they are, they are cleaned half-heartedly. Even if they were clean, they are still pretty tired, so maybe the staff thinks it's not worth the effort. It amazes me what some RV parks will cobble together for a bathroom. Wi-Fi was fast, they charged an extra dollar at check-in to use it, although there is nothing stopping you from using it without paying the dollar, there is no key. We camped here in a Motorhome.
There could be a big problem with this park if there are many staying here, because the pull-through sites are designed for 2 RVs. Our site with the stairs out and no slide on that side, only had about 10 feet for the other site. There was good free Wi-Fi which reached much further than the previous review. As mentioned there is no sewer for the pull-through sites. The park has some nice big trees and grass but the inside roads had lots of pot holes. There is plenty of room for big rigs. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a nice park, with some reservations. There are a limited number of pull-throughs available and none with sewer connections. The sewer connections are all back-in sites. But the views are nice, the people are great to work with and most of the sites are easy to access. The Wi-Fi reaches only about 4 sites. When we stayed there they had a couple of parties of fishermen staying in tents and they tended to keep late hours around the campfire, resulting a certain amount of noise. But basically we like this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Not sure of rate, we were part of a caravan. Site number is approximate. Nice little muni campground with a par 3 golf course around it. Only big drawback is the side by side sites are very tight with 2 motorhomes parked at the same time. If you had one by yourself then you're in business. We camped here in a Motorhome.
