An 8 because no pool or game room, but makes up for it by being quiet, very clean, and friendly. For those traveling up and down 395, suggest you consider the true outback, Nevada 441 between Fernley and Cedarville. Grass between sites, gravel base, level, good water pressure, excellent Wi-Fi. Trees for shade. We use our own facilities, but restrooms are old but very clean. Will definitely come back again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a small country RV Park next to their motel and home. The owners are long time residents of Surprise Valley and take pride in keeping their facilities spotless for the many returning guests. This is hard work since many of the guests are hunters and fishermen. The RV sites are level and gravel. The grounds include a stream, grassy park area and lots of flowers. Wi-Fi is excellent, town is about a 3/4 mile walk each way. We were on our way to Carson City on H-395 and drove over Cedar Pass just to stay here. We will do it again. We brought our trailer to Cedarville just to explore the area. We knew nothing about Surprise Valley or Cedarville. The motel had several pull-throughs for trailer and was dog-friendly with a large open area nearby for off-leash dog walks. Susie, one of the owners, was very gracious, friendly, and helpful. (I'm not sure about the rate--I believe it was around $20 but it could have been less or a little more) The best thing about the trip was the people, both in the motel and in Cedarville. Everyone wanted to talk, ask about our plans, and give advice. We were told about free hot springs and advised where not to go because of recent rains and muddy conditions. The town has a couple of friendly grocery stores and "Surprise"--an Internet cafe and local hang-out. The valley itself is spectacular in a wide-open-spaces way. Towns are small and far apart, there's bird life and wildlife of all kinds, and there's a lot of early California history as well. It seems every time we stopped to ask directions we were treated as special new friends and were treated to more suggestions for fun. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
