Found park to be very accommodating as per my questions of the area and help in finding those tucked away places. Rained most of the time. Campground held up well. Staff was very friendly. Stayed one night and will be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park has both back-in and pull-through sites, but, oddly enough, these are the same sites. You can either back into a single space, or pull through the space and drive *over* the grass median into a second site. In effect, “pull-throughs” use two back-to-back RV slots and back-ins only one. We chose to pull through, which turned out not to be a great idea because the utility hook-ups are designed for back-in. Still, the sites are both long and wide. The park doesn’t have much landscaping, but you are within walking distance of the ocean. We walked to the nearby harbor and saw sea lions that had taken over a dock. The bathrooms and laundry room are nice and spacious, but not very clean. The manager was friendly and helpful. She gave us great pointers on where to go for sightseeing. Our Verizon air card worked well, and we had excellent cell coverage. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park has FHU, 70 channel cable, and WIFI in a parking lot type setting. The sites are adequate if the park isn't very full but would be claustrophobic if it was. As previously mentioned, you can walk into town as well as nearby restaurants, the harbor, and several other RV parks. Not a great park, but certainly adequate for overnight or a few days to see the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Although there is nothing fancy in this park, everything here is done right and done well. The location is convenient both for attractions like the redwoods and for the conveniences of town. Our pull-through site was level, and all hookups were well designed. Showers and toilet facilities were clean and spacious. The laundry and rec room are open 24x7. The only thing that keeps this from a higher rating are lack of some "high-end" features like paved roads and community activities. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Typical KOA friendliness and routine here. Nice camp. Level, dirt / grass spaces. Kids like the rental Three Wheeled Cruisers to play with. Pancake breakfast made us feel like family. One of our camps we also stayed in summer 02 as well. We may even return on another visit. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The owner was very helpful. He gave us lots of info on things to do in the area. We had a nice level, grassy site in the redwoods. The showers/restrooms were spotless. This is a hidden gem in the redwoods area. We really enjoyed our time at this campground and in Crescent City. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

It was a very nice state campground. I feel a bit high priced for no hook-ups, but the sites were beautiful, with redwoods all around. You couldn't ask for nicer ambiance. We got to the campground after the kiosk was closed but our name and campsite was listed on a whiteboard on the door of the kiosk. We would stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Beautiful state park located just south of Crescent City in a canyon full of mature second growth redwoods. Sites are a little tight -- RV's with multiple slide-outs might have trouble fully deploying. Long drive in from US 101 (2.5 miles)has some interesting twists and grades but is do-able with care for even the big rigs. Dump station a bit antiquated but serviceable (take the left lane as it is level). Nearby beach at Crescent City (~5 miles) is very nice and dogs are welcome. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

After reading previous reviews we were not going to stay at this park, but when we drove past we decided to stay. We were given a site (#10) with a view of the ocean. I will agree there are a lot of full time, low income residents and some of the RV's were quite old. I would not recommend staying on the inside of the park. We had no problem here and loved our view. The manager was very friendly and works very hard to keep this park maintained. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Avoid this campground if you are traveling with small children: this is no place for them. It has a nice location near the beach, but that is its only good quality. The majority of residents we saw were full-time or month-to-month, living in run down trailers on dirty, garbage infested sites. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is the first RV Park you encounter when driving North on HWY 101 and upon entering Crescent City. We stopped here only because it was getting late and we were concerned about not finding an open campground. Manger is friendly, but this is a very old, poorly maintained park. The sites are very close and cluttered. Although there were other overnighters staying there, most rigs seem to be full timers or long term. Many rigs are very old. The best thing going for this park is its location (right in the harbor). I would pass on staying here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Good driveway to main office for a motor home. Friendly staff. We were placed in a 30 amp site so not sure if there is 50 amp. Good water pressure. Some sites are spacious but others are close together and all are on gravel. Very good WI-Fi and cell phone reception (AT&T). Many cable channels. Some Hwy 199 noise during day. Fog burned off in afternoon. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As other reviewers have noted, this park has many sites laid out in a rather unusual manner where rigs park head to tail in a row. Depending on your length and the length of the rigs in front and back of you, you may or may not be able to pull in and/or out of your site without unhooking your toad. Sites are gravel, reasonably level, with a picnic table and concrete patio. There is a lot of open green space, although the park has a serious gopher problem. The restrooms/showers and laundry room are not centrally located, so are a long walk from many parts of the park. The laundry room is large and has six washers, but only three working dryers. Lot of channels on the cable TV. We didn’t try the Wi-Fi; Verizon cell service was good and broadband worked, but was very slow. The person who took our reservation recommended coming in from US 101 via route 199 instead of 197, even though this is a few miles longer if coming from the north. After getting here and driving both routes, we found 197 to actually be better, with fewer sharp curves, grades and narrow spots. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Right in the Redwoods! That says it all. You are surrounded by old growth redwoods - one in our site was at least 15' in diameter. Some sites are small but ours was big enough for a 28' trailer and tow. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Much of what the previous posters had said is still true. I will just modify a few statements. The cell signal with our Verizon air card was present, but spotty. It actually worked better taking it out of the router and external antenna and plugging directly into the computer. This may be due to being a roaming area for Verizon. Cell phones do work, but don't walk around too much or you will drop the call. Satellite TV is nearly impossible due to the extensive tree canopy. I tried with a portable dish, but couldn't get enough signal to lock on. The visitor center opened for the season on May 29th. Funny since they totally missed the Memorial Day crowds a few days before. They did have a few Ranger programs, but we left as they were more geared towards children. In the rains such as we had, the grounds can get pretty muddy since the trees prevent the sun from getting through. In the warmer summer months the shade would be a welcome benefit. All staff at the park is helpful and friendly. Many tenter's frequent the park but all were considerate. We adhered to generator hours of 10 AM to 8 PM, and that made the tenter's happy. One issue though, I didn't see a lot of sites that would hold a larger rig. It's not the size of the site necessarily, but the room to turn into the site with the trees and rocks along the narrow road. My 35' motor home just barely made the turn. I would camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

One of the best places to stay if you want to camp among the giant redwood trees. The camping spaces are nicely nestled in the middle of an old growth grove of trees. We had a 35' motorhome, and there were quite a few spots we would fit. The road is narrow and twisty coming and going. I would not recommend if you have anything larger than 35ft. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Big open field with long pull-throughs. As someone said, it is very rustic. There were about 20 RVs here in April, and about half were permanent, mainly in the front area as you enter the park. We stayed on the beach row ,and they let us pull in so we have a view from our rear window. We used the site next to us for hookups which you probably couldn't do in the summer time. Lot of places to walk and a nice lighthouse to visit. It has a laundry room with 3 or 4 washers and dryers. The Chart Room restaurant has the best fried shrimp and fish & chips that I ever had. Don't get the dinner, it costs $10 more and you get plenty in the basket. It is a long walk to it, better off driving. Office personnel were very helpful and friendly. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is one of our favorite stops when we head North or are returning from the North. It is all about location. The sounds alone make it a great experience. It is a bit rustic but that is part of the charm. The Wi-Fi has been improved and we had great hookups while we were there. The row of sites along the beach is our favorite. From here you can hear the seals, the fog horn, the waves breaking, and the sea gulls. There is a long beach to the South suitable for running and hiking. We always come here if we are even close to the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Shoreline is a nice place to camp but it is out in the open, very little tree shade. You will have neighbors. The beach is a bit difficult to access but at least your at the ocean. The Hosts are very friendly and neighbors keep to themselves. Plenty of shower access, Wi-Fi and very pet friendly. Over all this is really a great place to stay. I would stay here again. We had complete hookups. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very well kept park, friendly office girl. Across from harbor and walking distance to beach and restaurants and also Safeway. Restrooms and laundry were clean, and office even has quarters which we found convenient. WI-FI and lots of cable channels which we were quite surprised that it was all inclusive. Pets allowed and very friendly neighbors. Stopped by for a night and ended up staying 3!! We will be back next year. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is okay for a short stay. The park has a run down appearance and bad roads. The grass site was level. I could not get wireless internet so don't know if they have it or not. The cable for television was not really good as some channels did not come in clearly and some came and went. The lady that checked us in was nice. I would say this park is better than some in town and at least has 50 amp service. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Great Wi-Fi and cable TV, in a parking lot of a campground where the majority of the patrons are either full-time or staying for many months at a time. Crescent City offers many RV parks and most seem similar to this one, but perhaps the location across the street from the harbor here will reduce some of the wind. The campground is maintained well and everything seemed clean in the laundry. Good Harvest Cafeé is just next door and offers a great lunch/dinner. Infinity spa & salon is also just next door and offers full salon services as well as massage. Very convenient to all the Redwoods has to offer and just across the street from the harbor. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful park. Everything is clean, and most of the RV sites are separated by Redwoods. It looks as though, many years ago, this was a clear cut and huge redwood stumps were left behind. New redwoods are growing from the old stumps. What a wonder camping here. This park is right off highway 101, but we didn't hear any road noise. If you want to hike the Jed Smith national forest, you should stay here. I would have given this review a 10 if it weren't for the horrible Wi-Fi setup. I didn't talk to the hosts about if, but should have done so. We stayed for six days. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice camp ground. Grass and gravel sites. WiFi intermittent. Lots of good sites for big rigs. Smaller rigs, under 30 ft can camp in the red woods area. Even if you can't camp in the woods, you will enjoy a walk through a beautiful new grow (probably 100 years old) forest. We camped in a 40 foot rig, about 75 feet from the edge of the forest in an open area with scattered trees. Short distance north of town was not a problem for us. In fact, it was an advantage. RV parks in town were parking lots, combat camping, and in the fog nearly all the time. Would choose this park again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects Passport America 50% discount. Park is well kept and the management was friendly. We were assigned a site at the back of the park and found the roads a little tight for a 40 ft motorhome towing a car. Next time I will disconnect the car before proceeding to my campsite. Nice quiet park with lots of open spaces at this time of year. Had a problem with getting satellite since we are next to large trees but the cable is pretty good so no complaints. We will return if in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The spot we had was very nice right under a couple of huge Redwoods. Gravel with a concrete patio and a nice picnic table. However here is what was wrong. The park advertizes WI-FI but is is only available in the office or sitting in you RV parked outside and the office hours are 11am to 6pm. The washrooms are old and kind of sad and a good hike from our spot. As well the water tap leaked a lot all night. We would probably not stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
