Summerdale Campground is located in the Sierra National Forest one and a half mile south of Yosemite National Park entrance on Hwy 41. The CG is a single loop around a grassy meadow full of wildflowers and shade for most sites is provided by Cedar, Fir and Cottonwood trees. This campground offers good fishing and cool summertime temperatures. I gave it a 7 rating not because of facilities but because of the setting and site size. All sites have tables, fire rings and grills. About half the sites are 20-footers with the balance being 30 and 40-foot pads. The campground loop is narrow and might be difficult to negotiate for a very long trailer. Motorhomes should disconnect their toads when checking in. The camp host isn't real friendly and is hardly ever around so if you have a need get to him when you see him. Water bibs (with threads) are scattered throughout the loop. Vault toilets. No showers or dump station. The sites are rustic and very pretty and could be a good option for Yosemite NP visitors who don't have a reservation in the Park. Reservations can be made between Memorial Day and Sept 30 but not for a specific site number. This CG qualifies those with a senior discount pass for a $10 rate. We camped here in a Motorhome.
