We got stuck on highway twists and turns on 36 en route to Redding as the sun set, and ended up in the sleepy town of Hayfork. Though there were practically no people around, we found some folks at the local saloon who pointed us to the fairgrounds. On the right side (don't go left!) lives the park caretaker, who showed us to a new concrete slab site surrounded by the fairgrounds and cow pastures. The area was clean, and the few others there were quiet. There's no road noise (hardly any roads!), no people noise (hardly any people!), and quiet cows. The one restroom that was open was clean and had decent showers. The place appears to be a county seat, and looks like the fair would be fun. There's a decent Mexican restaurant in town. Fine place to stop for sleep; not much else going for the area, though. I give higher marks simply for the peace and quiet of the place. It's not pretty, but we slept very well there. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
