Hume Lake is a great family campground owned by the U.S. Forest Service and run by the California Department of Land Management. The campground is well laid out with spacious camp sites. The restrooms have flush toilets; however, there is only one restroom per loop in the campground, so you may have a bit of a walk to get to the restroom. The entire campground is on a slope, so if the reservation website says that the camp site is unsuitable for tents, it is. Ours was even difficult to level our trailer on. That said, the pluses far outnumber the minuses. Hume lake is great for fishing (it is stocked annually), swimming, and non-power boating. We had deer (I counted 7 together at one time) continually walking by and through our site, and at 5200 feet above sea level, the temperatures are very pleasant in the lower 80’s. It’s a great place to camp, and we’ll definitely return! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Very nice dry campground in the Sequoia National Forest. Some sites have a great view of the lake and there is a very good store in town. Vault toilets and water faucets throughout the park. At 6000 ft elevation it is cooler and the air is clean. The main driveways are paved and the sites are gravel and they list a maximum length of 30 ft. Beautiful area with nice hosts. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
