The Blue Lakes Campgrounds are close to the junction of Highways 88 and 89 only 12 miles south of Lake Tahoe. There are three locations; Lower Blue Lake, Middle Creek and Upper Blue Lake with a total of about 50 sites for RVs and tents. To get to Middle Creek and Upper Blue lake, you need to travel on a good dirt road for about 1/2 mile but many big rigs as well as my class C had no issue. This is a remote and pretty primitive area. There is well water but no hookups of any type - -so be prepared to be "off the grid". Having said that, the area is beautiful and the lakes are stocked with trout. If you are looking for a great place to get-away this is a nice location - -and at this time of the year - - very few other campers. The elevation is about 7500 and the area closes when the snow flies - -about late October. We camped here in a Motorhome.
