This is an amazingly beautiful park, very well maintained, with a great deal of space between sites. There are miles and miles of hiking/biking trails with many benches and picnic tables. There is also a convenience store within the campground which was very handy as we ended up needing a couple of things. I can understand why another reviewer had a major issue with the 10 PM curfew, but it was fine with us as we only left during the day. This was our first stay here but we will certainly return, would love to bring our kayaks when the reservoir is full. No Wi-Fi, cable or cell coverage, but that's not so bad every now and then. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Lets start with the positive. This is a very pretty park in rolling hills and wine country. They actually allow you to have beer and wine on site. The sites have full hookups and are actually quite spacious. There is absolutely no cell service until you are out of the park. We were visiting our niece in Walnut Creek (40 minutes in distance). We were appalled when we were told if you are not back by 10PM the gates are locked and there is NO way back in if you are late. If you park in overflow then you are ticketed and towed. We thought the $45 was very high for a regional park and the curfew was unacceptable. If you are planning to stay and not leave the park, you will not have this issue. The lake is lovely. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Campground is five miles south of Livermore, at south end of Del Valle reservoir. There are four loops, two for just tents or very small campers, with mostly tight back-in spurs. Two other loops have larger back-ins and some pull-throughs, 21 of which have water and sewer hook-ups but no electric. The roads and spurs are asphalt-paved. Sites and roads are tight, with tight turns and low branches. Big rigs might be able to maneuver some spots, but even our 34-foot MH was tight. Most spots have a ten-foot table and fire ring with adjustable grill. Trees shade many spots. Nice grass open field in center of each loop for kids to play. 1/4 mile walk to lake, swimming beach. We camped here in a Motorhome.
