Adequate for a short stay, but would look around a bit if staying longer. Would also like to be closer to the beach, but beggars can't be choosers and all that. Quiet and quite clean, but just a bit cramped. Pool, bathrooms and laundry very clean which is very important to us. I would also like Wi-Fi in the motor home, but understand it is a cost issue. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to spend another night there if passing through. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Sexual Predator lives full time in this park. The police had gone around to every RV the week before I got there and gave out a flier. This information wasn't told to me by the management but by my neighbors. I went to the office and asked to see the information that was given to them by the police. I found this particularly disconcerting since I said I had a child. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park sounded great by reading their website. The spaces are very close together and mostly used by long term housing. We had very little space to back in our 26 foot trailer that was being driven by a suburban. The office is open very limited hours. The host does not answer the phone after 6 pm. My child being ill late one night and no one answered the door to the office when we went looking for directions to the nearest hospital. We will NOT stay here again! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This appears to be an older park which is overdue for an upgrade. Sites are wide enough, but maximum length is only 40' which makes it a tight fit for bigger rigs especially when vehicles are parked in the driveway. Most residents are long term or transient workers types. On the plus side, the management is helpful, the park has a nice pool, the free WiFi works well and it's cleaner than most of this type. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an older park, but OK for a stop on-route. We had expected the park to be noisy, but this was not the case at all. Mostly, long time residents but without looking run down as most of this type of places do. Clean bath rooms and showers. Friendly management. We came in a 40' motorhome, and the place is generally not suited for this. We managed to park between 2 5th wheelers but it took a couple of attempts to get into possition. When sliding out the sides we were overhanging the "neighbourghs proporty" indicated by a line laid down in the gravel. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As far our campsite/place to stay, it has really lived up to what I was expecting and more. There are quite a few full timers here but even so, this is a QUIET park! I know there must be some kids around because I see the toys, but I have not heard a single one so far! This place is also CLEAN! I mean, the bathrooms and showers are really, really clean. No spiders, no grunge on the floors, clean toilets and no graffiti. If there is any downside, it would be that the sites themselves are gravel so you may have to level yourself out a bit. We got lucky and it worked with no boards at all, but we saw others that had to use a few to level out. Also, the services are in the back of the site, so have long hoses and cords. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This could really be a special park if not for the fact that they have not updated the site size for 30 years. The site we were asked to back our 36 ft. fifth wheel into was very challenging. In actuallity, we could not place in the correct central location because of the site size and the sites not being level. The magagment agrees that the sites are too small for the newere bigger rigs, but that is just the way it is. If it were not for the location, this would just be another park with unfriendly managers. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
My husband and I stay here nearly every winter break for approximately 2 weeks. We have never been disappointed nor treated poorly by the owners. While this is not a "resort" type park, it is immaculate, convenient, and peaceful. We walk to town for meals when I don't cook; we ride our bikes on the trail and surface streets, and we can drive to nearby shopping/tourist areas such as San Luis Obispo or 5 Cities. A gem, indeed! And yes, the brick work that Andy has accomplished is phenomenal. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
When I stayed here in may I really liked it. I called to make reservations to take my wife out to Morro Bay later in the year, and what a run around I got. The owner didn't want to give me the same spot, even though I was giving him lots of lead time. Then refused to take my reservation without a credit card. He would not accept the fact that some of us don't use credit cards any more. He let me know in no uncertain terms that he wouldn't trust anyone without a card. I tried to explain to him that I was a minister and my word was good. Guess what ? He tells me he has heard that song and dance before. Too bad he has taken on that "we don't trust anyone" attitude so common in CA. I guess we will be taking our tourist dollars somewhere else from now on. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Here is one that is missed by everyone, including me, when I come to Morro Bay. This is a really nice, very quiet, clean, clean, clean park. It's pretty small and the Prevost crowd won't like it, but I have found a new home. The owner is a gem of a guy and is spending his life trying to pave the entire place with bricks. Yes, bricks. You must stop and see this, its really cool looking. I'll definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
For travelers just passing through for an overnight, this was a convenient, centrally located park. Backs up to a quiet residential street, about a five minute walk to the waterfront restaurant row. Some view of Morro Rock and the power plant at sunset. Most spaces appear to be rented to long-termers. We had limited hook-ups (water, electricity). Bathrooms and showers were very clean. I would stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Clean, well-maintained park with very friendly, helpful owners. Very tight sites for large rig; even window awnings intruded into adjacent site. Two blocks from waterfront and downtown shopping district. A great location, an old-style park with owners who are investing in improvements. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We arrived after hours (had a reservation) and were directed by a park ranger to our site. We were specifically advised not to use a generator during non generator hours. I appreciated the concern for quiet time, only wish the ranger would come by during those hours to enforce it. Camp host site was the most uninviting camp site I have ever seen. We were there 7 days and not sure what he did. Our refrigerator stopped working, I went to the SP entrance for information, she gave me phone book, not helpfull at all. Called Morro Dunes RV and Phil came out and repaired the refrigerator. Phil was honest and fixed the problem for a very fair price, if you need RV repairs while in the area, call Phil. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice park, quiet. Lots of greenery, it is across from the marsh where lots of birds hang out. We saw lots of birds. The sites aren't real wide but good enough. Very nice state park, close to Morro Bay. We will go back We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground was one of our favorites on a trip up the California coast. We stayed in one of the non-serviced sites. It was clean, level, and spacious with a grill and fire pit. The personnel were friendly and helpful. Though the park is close to town, it is large enough that you are not aware of it being near a populated area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here 5 nights, great destination State Park. Thirty of the sites have electric and water hookups, these are reserved early so plan ahead. Dump station, clean showers & restrooms, fire rings, TV antenna picked up four channels. The Wi-Fi is offered thru AT&T and is very expensive, best to drive into Morro Bay and go to The Top Dog Cafe on Main St, free Wi-Fi if you buy something. The History Museum is right next to the campground, use the free entry pass they give you at check-in to save $2 per person. The Monarch Butterflies were in Pismo Beach at the 'North Beach State Park' (Nov thru March), plenty of signs to tell you where to go. Some other great things to see and do: SLO (every) Thursday night market on Hiqueria St; the SLO Mission & Museum; Elfin Forest; Morro Rock; Nit-Wit Ridge house in Cambria. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We didn't actually stay at this campground. We tryed to make a booking over the Internet, but here it said that 40' RV's could not be accomodated and we, therefore, had to find an alternative site. On the 18th of November 2008 we then went to see the campground, and it appears that around 30 aites will in fact take a 40' RV. The on-site ranger had in her possession a campground map that showed a large number of sites with length 40' or more. The "trick" is to know which of the sites that will take your 40' RV and then book it despite it saying f.x. 32' only. The ranger told us that you will not be turned away as long as your rig will fit in the space you have booked. It sounds like someone in the reservation office need an ungent update. Apart from this, the park looked in mint condition and we would have liked to stay there. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We were is site 23 which is a pull-through hookup site, no sewer. The trees have been thinned out considerably, but there is still shade. The weather could not have been nicer. Golf course is discounted for campers; the museum and marina with kayak & canoe rentals is within walking distance. The bathhouses are pretty good for a state park and maintained everyday. The sites all have a table, fire ring and bbq; the non-hookup sites also have a food locker. Great destination park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Park has many mature eucalyptus, cypress, and pine trees. Our site 20 had a big eucalyptus that kept dropping seed cones on our rig. Easy walk to Windy Cove, Natural History Museum, and Heron Rookery. Campsites needed the accumulated bark, seeds, and sand cleaned off. My experience with California state parks is that this is one job not done enough. There were no butterflies in the grove. Most of them are down in Pismo Beach. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Location, location, location. Morro Bay is a wonderful destination, and from this camp you can ride your bike into town, rent kayaks, explore the wetlands, and play golf at the adjacent ocean-view, challenging public course, that we paid $20 for off-peak. We had great February weather, with none of the infamous fog. The park is set amongst Monterey Pine trees, and there are only a precious few hookup sites, that are full much of the time on reservations, even on many winter weekdays. The non-hookup sites are easier to get, except on some weekends and during the summer. Those are actually nicer, more spacious sites. Be warned that the trees may just block your satelite at many of the sites. Supposedly the front row hookups and the '50's (dry) are good for satelites, but our Dish worked from both sites we stayed at (#14 hookups $29, and #83 dry $20). There are no sewer hookups, and the single dump station, which also services Montana de Oro campground, can have a lineup. So, reserve early and enjoy a top-notch destination and very pleasant campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Plan ahead as the hook-up sites are limited. That's the only bad thing about a beautiful park. The trees mentioned in an earlier review are being thinned out. The Nature Museum is great and very kid friendly. Nice and clean and well maintained. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great State Park. We used this as a base camp to sight see the Central Coast area. Close to Hearst Castle (30 miles), Cambria, Elephant Seals. Sites are level, campsites are a nice distance from each other. Restrooms and shower rooms were clean and kept clean through the week we were there. Dump station is free if camping there. Museum was interesting and interactive - free if camping. Easy access to Morro Rock, Embarcadero. Can't wait to go back! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice place, ideal for a vacation. Only 30 hookups, though, so make a reservation if you need one. Lots of eucalyptus trees which drop bark and leaves and may make it look messy to some people. Fabulous birding, I saw 42 species on our first day. Nice hike up Black Hill and easy bike ride into Morro Bay or to Bayside. They were having difficulty with the hot water system for showers so showers were free when we visited. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We like this campground a lot. It is close to the water but not visible from the campground. It is a beautiful location. There is a dump station but you have to pay. It was quiet. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great park. I love to come here year around. Great natural history museum that is very interactive and free if you camp there. Only 20 hookup sites so plan way ahead. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I would sure like to know where our State Park Campground fees are going. They certainly are NOT going back into the State Parks. This place is an overgrown weed infested dirty rundown park. I have stayed in parking lots that were much nicer and cleaner than this. The generator hours are out of line with reality, 10:00a to 8:00p. I like to have breakfast and coffee before 10:00a and watch TV after 8:00p. What were they thinking. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Level pads. Lots of trees created private and cozy settings. Nice restaurants nearby. Nature center on the grounds. Just a couple hundred yards from the marina. We were there in between major storms so showers had no hot water and not all restrooms were open. Close enough to Hearst Castle to commute up and back. I loved this place and wish we had stayed more than a single night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This state park campground is outstanding an all respects. It is one of the few California state parks that provide hookups. I went in without a reservation, using a disabled veteran's pass. The Ranger very cordially assigned me a space with hookups. There is a marina within walking distance, where there is a good restaurant. Without a doubt, this is the best California State Park that I've been to. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed on the first weekend they reopened after a major rebuild. It was our first trip out with our new trailer. The sites are clean, the restrooms were brand new. The hosts were very helpful. The park is wonderful. Make reservations early it books up fast. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Recent million dollar plus renovation. Many of the non-native trees removed. What was once so dark and damp it was more a haven for vampires is now open and light. Campground hosts are friendly. 30 water and electric hook up RV sites are pull throughs. Dump station easy to access. Hike and bike section. No store on site but town is a very short drive. Golf course borders west side of park. Estuary on south with bird watching. Small marina on south side with kayak rentals and restaurant. Plan to return. Free WiFi about two miles away at a coffee house in town. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great State Park. While we were there on a previous visit we saw a Monarch Butterfly Migration that caused all the trees in to park to look like orange pumpkins. If you like sea life and bird life, this is the park. One evening we watch the Egrets return for the evening from their daily fishing. They landed in the trees on the edge of the bay and it looked like a decorated christmas tree full of white balls. We will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This RV campground is within walking distance to the ocean. Our spot had a nice view of Morro Rock. The grounds were clean & the staff was nice. It would be better if there was a little grass and trees but there wasn't. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great spot to view "Morro Rock". Tight spaces which wasn't really a problem as most everyone here was very friendly and there are fences separating most sites. Dog walk is a joke. It's a short (50 yard X 15 yard) area of dirt. There is an adjacent spot to the supposed dog walk which could and should be an extended part of the walk. So many dogs here you basically wait with your dog until the 2 ahead of done with business. Also, because of the dirt, it really needs mulching. Dog walk issues may not interest some, but there are lots of us that would like a decent spot to walk our pets. Quiet hours end at 8:00 am and at 8:02 Saturday am there are already screaming kids all over the campground. Management seems to not care. Love the town, but would not stay here nor recommend this place. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Flat sites in a variety of sizes and a parking lot-type place. Bathrooms were just painted, they're older and the showers are the push-button kind--mine shut off every 15 seconds. The water in the bathrooms frequently didn't get past lukewarm. The vanity area is new-looking. It's right across the street from the dunes and beach with the rock and the waterfront only a short distance away. You can actually walk to the Embarcadero area by cutting across the beach and then taking a walking path. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I wouldn't have known this park exsisted, if not for this site. It is at the end of a road that dead ends right next to the beach and has a view of Morro Rock. We were in the back with pull-thru sites. I really liked the short fences that separated the pull-thru sites. That gave a nice look when sitting at the site. If I had to stay in the section that was not pull-thru, I would not stay here. The smaller sites were very crowded! Kids on bikes with little supervision made driving through the parkscary. Not a park suitable for kids. No grass or kid area. We don't have kids, so the back area was a quiet area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is an awesome park, the first '10' we have seen. Clean, laid out well for the available space, beautiful surroundings, close to the waterfront shops and restaurants, and 'The Rock'. When we stay here again, I will try to get a cul-de-sac space because they are a bit larger and they are right next to beach access. I wish we could have stayed longer! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great location, right across from the beach and dunes. Our spot was just behind the fence which also served as a shield from wind and sand. Walked or rode our bicycles to the main part of town, about 10 to 20 minutes. The staff was exceptionally helpful. The on-site store had a very good selection of common as well as some very hard to find RV repair parts. During our stay we ran across a rather large injured bird on the beach, a full grown Western Greebe. The park's staff helped us by locating and contacting the local wildlife agency. They met us at the park's office to pick up the injured bird. We enjoyed our stay and I'll bet the rescued bird would also give this park an excellent rating. We will return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
When I first drove in I didn't think much of it, but once I saw the spot I was given I ended up staying a week instead of 2 nights. The staff was quite nice. Met a lot of very nice people staying at the park. Busy on the weekend, weekdays were quiet and mellow. Good location to see sights, the beach is wonderful. The wi-fi didn't work well at all, I had my aircard which worked fine. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a very nice, compact, and very quiet little park. The sites are level, gravel areas with a picnic bench and fire ring. This park is also very dog friendly, as we saw numerous dogs being walked in the mornings. We were concerned about possible smells being next the waste water treatment plant, but it was not a problem. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They were very accommodating about finding us a place when we wanted to stay another night. The park is a 15-minute walk to the Morro Bay waterfront restaurants and tourist shops and a shorter 5-minute walk to the beach. Backing into the cul-de-sac sites can be tricky if you arrive after dark. The bathrooms and laundry facilities were clean and convenient to our location. The showers could use a little more water pressure. A very nice park in a great location. We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As others have said, go for the location right across from the beach, which is through a wooden fence. It is clean and well organized, with friendly staff. The sites include full hookups, picnic table and fire ring. 50 amp still being installed. On the downside, the sites are pretty close together, the surface is primarily asphalt, gravel, or concrete, and the sewage treatment plant is next door. Still, it's great if you just want hookups by the beach. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A real nice park with great pleasant management. All hookups worked properly. They are putting in new electrical hookups which should be ready in the near future. We had to hook up our 50 AMP coach to older 30 AMP electric this time. The voltage was adequate. The place is clean and a general sprucing up was going on while we were here. Since we stayed here a month and a half, we got to know them very well. They handle mail and deliveries very well here for you. The beach is a very short walk out the fence. We would definitely stay here again. If staying during a holiday make reservations well in advance of your stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
It is a nice place and just a short walk to a great beach by the Morro Rock. (In fact, there are views of The Rock from most places in the campground.) The campground is also located within walking distance (about a mile) of the harbor and tourist areas. Morro Dunes offers RV sites with full hookups with or without TV, free WiFi, and many tent sites. There are several shower and laundry facilities conveniently located throughout the park. The only down side is that the park is very compact, meaning sites are close together and the adjacent property to the east is the water treatment plant for the city of Morro Bay. So far there hasn't been an odor problem. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very friendly staff, all dressed in Holloween costumes due to it being Holloween. We stayed here two days and just loved the location...right across the street from a wonderful beach with an unobstructed view of Morro Rock. Facility is clean, and well maintained. Not all sites have 50amp service yet, but all should be hooked up within a month, or so. We had 30amp service, but that worked well for us. You can call "Dial A Ride" and be shuttled over to the Morro Bay Embarcadero for $1.50 per person. You can also catch a bus up to Hearst Castle from Morro Bay Park. Will stay here again! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Good for value. Good location, few steps across road to sand dunes and good view of the rock. Staff friendly. Park - is basic, not a lot of grass ie lots gravel and no area for kids as such. Would not stay for much more than a night therefore -but certainly has services you need. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I have no serious complaint with this park, considering what it is. It is a great place to plug your fridge and bed for diving adventures, or as a base camp to explore surrounding areas and visit friends and family. It's fine for a one night stopover, which is how we used it. In my opinion, though, it is not a place to sit and relax. It's all dirt and gravel. There are too many kids on bikes paying no attention to traffic and frankly, the place looks a bit like a refugee camp from the Grapes of Wrath. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The staff greeted us promptly and were very friendly. The location is right next to the beach with a great view of Morro Rock. The campground is nice, full hookups, cable, although somewhat small. Still, it is near Hearst Castle and in a nice town. We had a problem with the Wi-Fi. We had two sites and both could not connect to the internet. I contacted staff and they said it was due to heavy use, but I checked it during the middle of the night and I still could not log on. I think the modem needed to be reset. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
All the sites are manicured. The office was real helpful. We liked the area so much we went from 6 night stay to a 9 night stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great Location for Beach access. It was right across the street. Perfect for a weekend getaway. Staff was Very Very nice. The only thing I didn't like was it was all cement. But I got over it with the location being right across from the beach! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have stayed here many times in the past and over the years come to be a bit dissapointed with the age and condition of the park. But that was before this year when we discovered, after all this time, there was a whole nuther part of the park. We were never aware of the north end of the park. It is larger and much nicer than the south end. I wonder why this was kept a secret ? Must be that everyone wants to stay on the south end because of the ocean that almost flows into your campsite. The north end is hidden behind a fence and is twice as nice as the south end, and way quieter. Wowee ! we have re-discovered a gem on the sea. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I love it when people go to the beach and complain about the sand. You know, if you go to Yosemite there's all those dang pine needles... Everything's relative folks. Anyway, it's a nice park. Where else can you go and have a magnificent rock formation right outside your window and be steps from the ocean, have full hookups with cable and WiFi for $38? I can't stay home for that. The sites can make one a little claustrophobic. But our site handled our 35' MH, our toad and our 2 slideouts. Just. Camp is older and does show it's age in spots. Staff was very friendly. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is, or was, a very nice park. I realize that when a park is located right on the beach it is hard to keep things from rusting, and sand is a never ending problem. Morro Dunes is owned and operated by some very nice Christian people. The wifi is very good, access to the beach is great, but thats kind of the end of it. The place is all dirt or a mixture of dirt and sand that gets everywhere. This place would really benefit from a load of gravel. I tend to leave little tests around when i spend multiple days at a park. A sliver of soap in a soap dish, a crumpled up paper towel in the corner on the floor. We were there 4 days and these things were still there in the shower and rest rooms. And whats with having to push the button every 60 seconds to get the shower water to flow? I think that the biggest problem here is the age of the park. Like so many in the country they are suffering from old age and lack of investment. This is a large park, right on the water in central calif. I can only imagine what this ground is worth. It probably wouldn't pay the owners to put any money in the place when its worth millions to the developers. Would i stay here again ? probably, but only in my 5th wheel where i didn't have to use the toilet and shower facilities. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
I honestly don't understand what the previous reviewer means by clean. This is one of the dirtiest places we've stayed. All sites are dirt, and they rake the dirt up, creating clouds of blowing dirt so we had to close our windows. At $33/night (the dog's a dollar ten extra even though the "dog run" is a strip of dirt and no services are provided for the charge.), one would expect a bit of gravel if grass won't grow. Also, you have to be careful when you pull in and ask for what you want. We said "full hook up," which in the rest of the world means water, sewer and electricity. Here it means an extra $4.50 for a satellite feed we don't want or need--no refunds--no choice. I suppose if you are careful enough what you say when checking in, have no dog and don't live in your RV so don't mind it getting really dirty inside, this is a good beachside park. For us, on top of the very dog UN-friendly nature of the town, we won't be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
First the good: The park is in a nice location, just over the dunes from the ocean and Morro Rock and far from any busy streets. Maintenance is top notch, all sites clean, raked and the whole park is in great repair, which is saying something given the proximity to the ocean and salt water! The waterfront/downtown area of Morro Bay is a short walk (maybe one mile?) down the beach, adding to the attractiveness of the location. All services worked well, including the free wifi. Now, the not so good: The sites are very open and pretty much right on top of each other. No real "camping" feel. The people working the desk were not the most friendly...not rude or anything, but just not real friendly. Maybe because we stayed immediately following Labor Day weekend and they were a little tired, their patience was thin? All in all, I'd definitely go back to Morro Dunes. Not my dream spot, but a very nice RV park in a great location. We camped here in a Motorhome.
My wife and I love this place. We come here every year for our anniversary and due to it's location, can visit all of the local spots; Cambria, Morro Bay, Los Osos and San Luis Obispo. Sites are level, pea gravel and most have full hook-ups. The campground is directly across from the beach and if you're lucky, the fog will roll in, in the late afternoon. Great escape from the Central Valley heat!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We made reservations month ago and asked if they, the campground management, could move us closer together as cancellations occurred. When we showed up we had two sites next to each other. They get a 10 for that. The sites we were assigned were converted tent sites with only gray water drains. One of the sites had a light pole on it which made it difficult for our friends to park their trailer. The beach is an easy, short walk away. There aren't many places to ride bikes to so I would leave them behind next time. There is a trolley that takes you around town for $.50 a ride or $2.00 for all day. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Well the good news is that it had wi-fi and some working laundry facilities. And it was just over the fence and across the street from Morro Rock. Good hookup options. And the staff is very nice. But, um, it's also surrounded on at least two sides by an electric plant, cement plant and a sanitation plant. It's all paved, no shade and you really do feel like you're on top of each other. Oh, and near where our campsite itself was is a lot that can only be described as where RVs go to die. There were dozens of rusty, old campers. We moved on to Morro Strand State Beach just a few miles away. Right on the beach and just up the road. Alot quieter too. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Staff very helpful, site was raked and spotless, easy hookup, fire pit & picnic table.Across the street is the beach on the north side of Morro Rock, very accessible by walking or wheelchair. Older park but VERY well maintained, every machine in the laundry worked! Showers clean. Good dog area and dog friendly staff. We will be back! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I found it hard to get very excited about this place. Our location in the park wasn't the greatest. Some sites are just over the fence from Morro Bay's sewage treatment plant and ours was one of them. When the wind is blowing just right, you get a lovely ocean breeze. But when it blows the wrong way, you get the sewage plant aroma. The "sites in the back" seemed to be less prone to the sewage aroma so if you can get one of those sites you'll be in good shape. All that aside, it's an easy stroll to the beach and although the town is a walkable distance, we just drove there. Great beach town, restaurants, fresh fish market, all good. Having said all that, if we ever go to Morro Bay again we'll probably stay in the state park unless we can get a guaranteed "back" site here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Real Beach'ee place. Level wide back-in sites. If you get a "fence" site you can see the ocean from your rig (If it's a Motor Home or big 5th wheel. We loved it, very nice park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
They claim this to be a Resort? Someone's living in a fantasy world! This has to be one of the dreariest places we've ever been to. Staff with no personality, lousy gravel sites and virtually no amenities. I asked for a pull-thru site and while they had plenty, they made me take a back-in site. We won't bother with this place again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice park where location is one of the highlights. Hookups are planned and the grounds are very well kept. Dog runs are clean and spaced nicely. Restrooms are clean and very large. For the most part the staff (once you arrive) is exceptional. My initial phone call to make reservations was met with an attitide of you're doing me a favor by calling. Upon arrival things were great. A wonderful surprise of free Wifi is another reason to come back to this park. We will return often I'm sure. As things evolve and the world is changing it is nice to see RV park owners and managers are changing with the times making the changes that make me want to return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We loved the location of this park - right across the street from the beach and very near Morro rock. The bathrooms and showers were a bit long in the tooth but clean enough and reasonably maintained. There were several laundry areas in the park which was convenient. The site was level and not huge but certainly big enough for our 30 ft class A. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very busy campground. Short walk to beach/ocean. Friendly staff. Has small store. Sites are small and close together with sand and paved streets. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Sites are level, most are back-in sites. 20 pull-thru sites. Well maintained. Easy access for big rigs. The best feature of the park is it's proximity to the beach (100 yards). You can see the waves break from some sites. Recommend 3-4 weeks advanced reservations Apr. - Oct. Close to the downtown wharf area and 26 mi. south of Hearst Castle. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We love the California Central Coast and usually stay either in Pismo Beach or Morro Bay for vacations and weekends.Very few trees and a limited amount of shrubbery but it is near the beach and that serves as the focal point of the park. Very friendly staff and park personnel. Right on the beach. Nice clean sites, paved roads, clean bathrooms, and a nicely stocked though not overly large store.

Although a high density park of mostly pavement and gravel, the beach is only a couple hundred yards away. We have always enjoyed our stays there. Well ran operation makes good use of space and is popular year round. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very well kept campground. Practically waterfront sites, Morro Bay is a short walk away, with Morro Rock off to the side. Morro Bay is a great place to use a launching pad to Hearst State Park (Hearst Castle), Cambria, and Harmony, not the mention the quaint town of Morro Bay. We camped here in a camper.
Pros: 1) nine minute walk to beach 2) original-new restrooms, showers, and laundry 3) “Morro Bay Trolley” (on rubber wheels) stop in front of RV park ($3 all-day, adult pass) 4) all sites are level 5) short drive to Morro Bay shopping and many excellent restaurants 6) choice of narrow to wide spaces Cons: 1)“Trolley” runs only on Friday thru Monday 2) across the street is a concrete mix plant which starts their diesel engines and moves them forward and backward (with accompanying “beep-beep” sounds, then the trucks multi-shifting gears as they roll out. 3) If you’re there during school days, the sound of school buses will also irritate you, if you’re like me 4) Next to the mix plant is Morro Bay Waste Treatment Plant which on the Monday we arrived was emitting the usual septic tank smell (little con: the rest of the days we were there we didn’t smell anything bad, possible reasons: change in wind direction or MB’s sewer usage went down after the week-end) Neutral: connections are near the real of space, but we had no problems. This was a very comfortable interim site for us. We stayed four days. It is close to the beach and easily within reach of the town of Morro Bay, a lovely costal city. The seafood is outstanding. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I agree that this a parking lot with large number of rules. There is no dog run and the rules state if you have to walk your dog do it toward the ocean not in the park. When checking in we were given a site with no electricity and had to move. The utilities connections are too far back to allow easy hookup within the 10 foot from the fence which separates you from the school. Probably would not stay here again even thou the manager was friendly (except when I told the manager my electric did not work). We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a basic RV park. Some of our group rented a cabin which was nice and basic, but the hot water only held out for a very short period of time. The hookups were available, but were not lined up well for our RV. The park was nice and quiet, but then it was March. A washer and dryer were available – in the woman’s bathroom. We would probably stay here again, but it was not on the top of our list. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is exactly as advertised...very basic, but clean, with level gravel spots, and 50amp service. A short walk to the beach. We arrived late in the afternoon in Morro Bay and stayed here as there were no spots available just down the street at Morro Dunes until the next day. No frills, but the owners take pride in their park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park is basic, clean, with everything we need. We don't have kids traveling with us, so a basic park with full hookups, nice people and a good satellite view are what we look for. It's a short walk to the beach, sites are pretty level and gravel. We would definitely return! We camped here in a Motorhome.
The new managers are pretty good, but new to their job. Park is two blocks to the beach. The spaces seem to stay wet much of the time. Park is clean and well cared for. Hookups are rather new and excellent. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Don't you love it when someone with only two prior ratings gets on the service and trys to tell everyone the people rating these places are wrong. Two priors and both of other parks in Morro Bay, niether good, and none since. Hmmm ! that sound like the owners of the park, or what ? Look this place over real good before you pay to stay here. You be the judge. And by the way, after 15 years in law enforcement, I know a gang member when i see one. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I also stayed in Park Two in August. I am also an honest person and found the park to be clean and the management very friendly and helpful. My 27' fit just fine. The sites are smaller but, I have been in a lot smaller sites than this park! I did not have a problem with the WiFi. There is a connection for WiFi for park one and one for park two. Need to connect into the correct one. I have never seen gang members in this park..just respectful RVer's. We enjoyed the park, although we do like Park One a little better, more of a homey feeling to it. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I really hate this, but unless one is honest, no one knows what to expect. This started out to be a pretty nice place till they built the "new side" across the street. We explained we were older folks and needed a quiet spot. They placed us in the "new side", and I really don't think i have ever seen a park quite this small and hard to get backed into. The sites are very, very small. My 27 foot trailer would barely fit, then you are expected to park next to it, out of the driveway. IMPOSSIBLE]!! They need to sober up whoever planned out the construction of this new side and fire him. They don't even have the luxury of saying the park is old! The WiFi was so poor on this side of the street that I had to log onto someone else's WiFi just to stay connected. The kids screamed and hollered and rode their bikes up and down the drive all evening and the park management did nothing to quiet them down. Then they rented a spot to what appeared to be gang members, that about took the cake. We are done with Morro Bay in general. with the prices gone round the bend, and no decent RV parks left, I think we will find some other place to spend our dollars. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The new part of the park opened one week ago and it appears it is used for smaller rigs. We are in a 20 ft van with a tow. We fit just fine, but did think some were finding it very tight. The management was very nice and as it was holiday weekend we felt lucky to get a spot. It is a good location for touring the area. A trolley stops outside the park. Nothing for children to do here so they did play in the street which was not good. But would stay here again next time thru... We camped here in a Motorhome.
A new, immaculate yet sterile campground. There was no shade and all parking is on gravel. The ocean is a short walk away. WiFi was perfect, all facilities were well managed and the staff was friendly. Easy access for big rigs. All spaces are back-in. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a clean, parking lot-type RV park. All gravel; no trees or landscaping except on perimeter of park. Location is close to the beach and a very nice grassy park/ball field which our dog enjoyed. The spaces are roomy and the manager was very nice. Dinner at Dorns Restaurant is recommended! We'll probably try the State Park in Morro Bay next time. Didn't like all the gravel. We camped here in a Motorhome.
If you like small, quiet, well-maintained parks, this place is for you. Nice staff, big sites, fantastic wifi and cable, super clean restrooms/showers, and only 1 block from a gorgeous beach and dunes. If the surf's up, you can even hear it from your campsite! While kids are permitted here, there's not much for them to do-- no pool or playground, and no planned activities like at bigger parks. But if you're looking for a quiet base camp for working and/or vacationing, this park can't be beat. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Small park. All gravel sites. Utilities at back end of sites so come prepared. Sites are roomy. The park is excellently located, close to the beach and town. Beach is within walking distance. Friendly staff. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We loved the park. Very, very, clean and the Camp Host was very friendly and helpful. She told us quite a bit about the area and places to visit and see. Beautiful office, with pamphlets about the area of Morrow Bay. The sites are very large and clean, as are the restrooms. There is a clean, well maintained laundry room. Also free Wireless internet and 70 channel TV is included. Every site is full hook-up and the park is very quiet at night. We loved the place, we will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park has only been open for about 1 year and everything is in excellent condition. All sites have 50 AMP service and the office has a limited supply of "dog bone" adapters to 30 amp if you only have 30 AMP at no charge. Staff is very congenial. Office doubles as a small store with limited supplies. Food and services are within walking distance. Beach is 1/2 mile and the sound of the surf is quite impressive. Tent trailers are permitted. As the park is adjacent to the Morro Bay High school, the school busses in the early morning may bother some light sleepers during the school year. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great place to spend a couple days on the beach. It would have gotten a 10 if it had any amenities besides the location. We had to take two spots (30ft trailer) but it was worth the extra money. The boardwalk in Morro Bay is nice and the food at the restaurant on the north end where the road curves sharply to the right had good food. Morro Rock was also nice and you can drive right up to it if you want. I would imagine that the park is packed all summer. The park this time of year was practically empty, no reservations required. I'd go back there for sure. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Our favorite place to stay. Its not primitive, but there are no RV services. Used a generator for electric, filled our water tanks for showers and dishes, propane for heating/fridge. Generators have to be off by 8pm, not like other camp sites of 10pm. The host will come by and make sure yours is off if its on and past 8pm. Nice listening to the ocean at night, beach is just a short walk down. We camp with our dog and its a pet friendly park, but use your leash. We have a 28 ft 5th wheel and just barely made it into our site. I would not recommend anything larger as the sites are very small and close quarters. Open fire pits are awesome for making smores. Picnic tables at each site. Some have trees and some not. Enjoyed our stay there and will continue to stay there often. Surf is ok for the area. Great place to build sand castles. Plenty of beach to run down and get a good morning jog in. Enjoy your stay here as its one of our all time favorites! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Max 27 foot unless you buy 2 spaces. Converted day use parking lot. Fire rings and picnic tables at each site. right on the edge of the beach. Wonderful location. No showers We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Love this place! It looks like a converted parking lot that's broken up (by the restroom buildings) into three sections. We got a center space at the end section which allowed us to have two "spaces". Each meal we could sit in our trailer and look out on the ocean which is mere yards away. And the beach itself is great. The birding is tremendous. We rented wet suits and boogie boarded for a couple of days. Nice staff as well. We loved it so much we stayed much longer than planned. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Super place to camp, right by the beach 100yds away. No hookups or dump station here but you can use dump station at the Morro Bay campground. This was an old day use parking lot converted to camping area. Not but about 5 sites that can handle a big unit. If those are taken you have to pay for 2 sites. Very local to town and everything you need. Just south 15 miles of where the Elephant Seals come in the winter to mate. Defintely would go back but you gotta like boondocking or a perfect nights stay. Hosts are super friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
