This is a clean campground with a lot of space in the forest. Most sites area very far apart except some of the tent sites, which can be right next to each other. There is enough room to pull a large trailer but not a lot of room for maneuvering into the sites if you have a large trailer, as we do. There are campfire talks put on by the rangers mostly designed for kids. We stayed at a large double wide spot (#13). Some of the spots have electric hookups, but a lot don't. Ours didn't. For the price, it should have. If this spot had electricity it would have received a 9. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park. Sites are not level, nor is there much room to drive a big rig around. I had a tough time with a 25ft TT. Parking spurs are paved and tight. Sites are big though. Bathrooms are some of the best I have seen for a county park. Park hosts are great. I would return again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a wonderful National Forest campground located close to the big city... but seemingly a world away. Nestled amongst the pines, most sites we saw offered partial-to-plenty of shade. The campground was completely remodeled in 2004 with new restrooms, showers, picnic tables and firepits. Although we didn't need to use the campground's restrooms and showers, we did peek in and were pleasantly surprised at how clean and well stocked they were. There was a good mix of motorhomes, trailers, and tent campers throughout the campground. We stayed in spot 17 which seemed to offer a bit more privacy than some of the other sites within the main loops. Although we were relatively close to neighbors on both sides of us, the density of the sites on our loop was considerably lower than that of the sites that were in the central portion of the campground. Additionally, there were other sites that offered even more privacy. From our site, you could hear a bit of traffic noise from the Rim of the World Highway but it was not disruptive. Additionally, most of the sites within the campground would not be able to hear the highway. There are no water or sewer hookups available, however there is a dump station at the campground (free for campers -- I believe $5 for non-campers). Electric is available at many sites (some 30 amps, some 50 amps). Water spigots are available near some sites. Campfires are allowed in firepits and the campground host sold firewood on-site. The central section of the campground got fairly smoky in the evening when all the campfires were going -- another reason we were happy to be on the outer loop -- although we love our smores, we do like to breathe. Activities at the campground include Interpretive programs on Friday and Saturday nights and two hiking trails -- a short nature trail good for kids practically any age as well as a longer trail with a trail head beginning at the campground. We had fun biking around the campground as there's not much else to do within the campground itself other than to enjoy the simplicity of being with family! Be aware that although all the sites are paved, many are not level -- we have levelers but had to use wood blocks (many!) to get the coach completely level within our site. Nearby, you've got Lake Gregory (15 minutes away) with boating, fishing and a water slide park. Lake Arrowhead village is only 5 minutes away with fine dinning, quaint shops, and a wonderful mountain resort atmosphere. This campground is closed in the winter. We stayed on a weekend in June and the campground seemed fairly full. We had a great time -- glad we discovered this little jewel in the forest so close to our home in Southern California -- and we will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
