This is a great little mom-and-pop campground. The only negatives: low water pressure (guess we had a site away from that of the last reviewer), and those bone-blasting “drainage ditches” across the roads. While we were at the CG, they at least painted stripes across them to make them more visible, but a few cubic yards of large gravel would alleviate the problem. The sites are private and shaded (to the extent we had to juggle to get Sirius reception.) We camped here in a Motorhome.
I stayed here as a base camp to visit the nearby State Parks and Redwood National Park. Jean, the owner, was very nice and after I indicated I may stay an additional night, she checked her books and had me stay in another site so I wouldn't have to move. After one day it was clear I needed more time, so that foresight saved me from hitching up. She was fairly knowledgeable about the area as well, Trinidad in particular, and had a number of pamphlets providing info about other places. The park is very quiet, and they make it clear noise is not tolerated 9-9. There's a beautiful pond that most of the overnight sites border, and a lattice fence provides privacy between each site. Each site has a picnic table and a fire tub. There was excellent water pressure, good condition power connections and the site was on fairly level grass, though I did need about 4" of blocks. My drain line is very low, so I appreciated the surface sewer drain as it made it a snap to connect up to. I never used their showers, but the bathrooms were in good shape and the laundry room was large and had 2 coin-op washers and dryers. They had a large selection of books as well, free for each guest. Nearby is a trail that leads to Patrick Point State Park, circumventing the $7 car entry fee front gate, though it does go smack through a group campground site. The park is exquisite though, from forest to sea. Harbor seals, Redwoods, Brown Pelicans, and other wildlife are everywhere in and around the park. So the Glen is in a perfect spot for access to this park. The only negatives would be the bad entry, though currently they route you around another building to avoid that section. Also water run-off ditches go across the gravel road, making for some nasty dips. More gravel would help, or a better drainage system. This was a great place to stay and I chose to stay at this place because of the reviews on this site. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Small, friendly, very quiet and peaceful RV park. Full hookups, cable tv, dial-up modem in laundry room (no wifi), fire rings. Easy walk into Patrick's Point State Park which is across the road to see the ocean and seal lions. The price quoted is for pond-side sites, others cheaper. Great place for a rest. Cash or check as they don't accept credit cards. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very quiet and peaceful RV park. Full hookups, cable tv, dial-up modem in laundry room (no wifi), fire rings. Easy walk into Patrick's Point State Park which is across the street. Friendly staff, older but clean restrooms, rough entry driveway into RV park, which slows everyone down to a crawl. Cash or check as they don't accept credit cards. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Extraordinarily beautiful place with exceptional management. Long quiet hours and lovely garden setting make being outside here most peaceful. A short handful of strictly enforced rules make for a relaxed, wonderful place to be with very clean facilities. Pond-side sites work for internet satellite access. The prettiest pet area I've ever seen. A fence around it to let the dogs play together would make this place perfect! We camped here in a Motorhome.
The Azalea Glen RV Park & Campground in Trinidad California was the most comfortable place that we have ever visited. The flowers and plants were beautifully maintained. The park management was exceptional. In all of our stays in RV parks none have equalled Azalea Glen. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the cleanest place we have ever stayed! Waking up at the edge of the pond was like waking up in the midst of a Monet painting! The grassy sites and privacy fences between sites showed the high standards of care that these folks put into making this park comfortable for travellers. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a very nice small campground. It is not your typical parking lot layout. We checked all the campgrounds in the area and found Azalea Glen to be the nicest and most scenic in the area. The sites are on grass and are either in the sun or shade. The interior loop road is packed gravel. The area is very nicely landscaped with large trees and flowers. Bushes separate most of the campsites. The pond is very lovely but the sites next to it are pretty short for larger RVs. Patrick's Point State Park, one of our favorite parks because if its diversity of trees, ferns, rugged coastline and hiking trails, is right across the street. The campground does not accept credit cards. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice smaller quiet park. About 1/3 of the sites are permanent type. Lots of flowers and
shrubs. The lake is actually a lily pond with ducks. Some sites are close together. Modem hookup is in the laundry room. Rate was for a pond site. Walk to Patrick's Point State Park via a shortcut trail. Accepts only cash or check. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We ended up staying here because the park we originally had our reservations at, was
scary. We explained our situation to the owner of Azalea Glen and she was sympathtic. She told us to pick out a space and she would hold it for us till we arrived the next day. When we told her which space we liked, she suggested a different one a couple more down from it. She explained that the one we had chosen would be shady most of the day during this time of the year. It turned out she was right. About 1/2 of the park is filled with permanent residents, but you couldn't really tell. Their spaces were kept very tidy. I think the owners run a pretty tight ship. All the facilities were spotless. Modem hookup in the laundry room. Patrick's Point State Park is literally right across the street. When we weren't out exploring the local Redwoods, we hung out at the their duck pond. The only reason this park doesn't get a 10 is due to the fact that every once in awhile, you could hear a truck go past on the freeway. The next time we head up to the Northern California Redwoods, the ONLY place we'll be interested in staying will be here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A beautiful campground under large redwood trees. It is well maintained with easy access in and out. We stayed in site 20, which was very large and far from the highway, though it is right next to a row of very nice looking little cabins. We'd ask for this same site next time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a wonderfully well-run park. Very little sun, in the middle of a redwood forest. We were in site #93 - a huge site. It did back up to the 101 but in northern California that doesn't amount to much. We stayed 3 nights and would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We spent two weeks at this park, waiting for a grandchild to be born. Trinidad is a wonderfully picturesque little town and Emerald Forest RV is a great park right in the redwoods, within walking distance of the town itself. The park is very well run. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and everything is clean and tidy. The park is family friendly. We will stay here again, for sure. Wi-fi and cable TV worked fine. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Always a pleasure to stay here. Views are spectacular. You camp next to huge redwood trees. The rugged beach of N. Calif is minutes away. Rained a lot when we were there, but nothing you can do about that! Staff friendly and helpful! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an excellent RV park. The setting is magical, as you are literally camping among the redwoods. Nice people. The best WiFi connection I have had in a long time. Easy to get in and out in my 36' class A. Just up the road from Trinidad and the casino. They also have great tent camp sites and a number of small cabins. We will be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a wonderful experience camping right among the giant redwoods. There was plenty of room for our 40' motorhome. The view out the windshield was spectacular. The office staff was helpful and friendly. It was a very pleasant experience and we would camp here again! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Campground is in the Redwoods but very close to the 101 highway. The interior roads were not maintained and were very muddy in spots. Be sure to stay in the front section of the campground as the traffic noise might bother some folks. The surrounding area is beautiful and warrants exploring. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Friendly staff. Dirt roads with "some" gravel (needs a lot more gravel). Dirt and gravel sites. Sewer connections too high out of ground. Sewer smell prevalent in park. Lots of dust. Nice modem area in store/office. Older park surrounded by lots of trees. Sites not very level. No "instant" phones. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Visited this park because of glowing review in this forum. The review was correct. Very pretty, nice people, good location. Modem hub is inside a redwood stump. No kidding. Cable signal was as good as I've ever seen at a park. Power was fine. The location in the big trees make the park. We only spent one night because there are seven or eight steps up to restrooms and shower. We are both disabled, and
while we can do one or two steps, this was too much. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Magnificent setting with Redwoods towering around your RV. Most sites level on 12 acres of forest. Convenient mini mart. Great for 1-2 nights. Stayed in 2001 and 2002. We camped here in a camper.
Gentleman at check in was very friendly but this was not good RV park for our purposes. It is almost exclusively permanent RV's and park models with a handful of spots for overnight or short term stays. Interior roads were fine except for a couple of speed bumps angled to feel really huge; site was level and large enough but not big by any means. The dump was flooded out when we were there in January. The bathrooms, showers and laundry were OK, not overly modern or clean but acceptable. We wouldn't stay there again, we would try the Emerald Forest just down the street. It looks more like a campground than a mobile home park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We arrived thinking we could use Passport America card as they were advertised in the book
but only to be notified that they were no longer honoring the price made us unhappy. The owner Ron and Tersesa were very informative of the area and gave us
great information of the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Our reserved site was situated so that it was nearly impossible to get our trailer backed in. We found a vacant alternate site which was great. Camp staff were friendly and helpful in allowing the switch. On a less positive note, the restrooms had a musty barn odor (to put it mildly), and are long overdue for refurbishing. Same for the showers, which require quarters to boot. A sign said quarters are available at the Visitor's Center. We went there and learned they didn't have change for the showers. After having just come from some Oregon campgrounds, (where water/electricity hookups are standard), we were disappointed in California to have to pay more per night without any of these amenities. Another negative was the evidence of drug use/discarded paraphernalia in the bushes behind our campsite. (I had to explain to my kids that Humboldt County has the most liberal drug laws in the state.) It's too bad, because the location and scenery are spectacular. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Beautiful ocean views! Nice campgrounds. No hook-ups but worth the view. Hot showers and hiking trails. Lots to see and do. Sumeg Village is beautiful and a working replica of a Yurok Indian village. Educational! If you visit Trinidad, it's a must see. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As with another California state park that we stayed at on this trip, we found this park in need of a lot of deferred maintenance. The setting is really nice - lots of big evergreens and views of the ocean from the top of a bluff. Some of the sites are set down in the lower forest, but the best sites are up on the bluff where you can see the ocean and it is not so gloomy in the winter. Be aware that if you are here in the winter you will find that the sites are pretty muddy and soggy. Quite a few people living in the park in make-shift camps. I do have to complement the park hosts though who seemed to be really trying to do the best they could given the limited resources they had. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park is up for sale and it shows. Maintenance has stopped and the place is going down hill. I have a surge protector that cuts off the AC power to my coach if the voltage is high or low. The voltage at our site, and I assume all other sites, was 133+ volts. My surge protector constantly cut off and on for the four days I was there. It was a real pain. The wifi was down the entire time we were there. The place has a lot of potential, but uninspired management. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As we take this 10000 mile journey, I've learned 2 things about my Passport America membership, 1) it only takes 1 night to pay for it (thank God,) and 2) many of the campgrounds that are PA sites NEED it to compensate for their complete lack of desirability. This campground is no exception. They say the normal rate is like $40 so you get full hookups for $20. When we were there, it was mostly empty. The park is dirty, sites are all grass and dirt, light poles are missing or have burnt out bulbs and are covered with cobwebs. You have to have a key for the bathrooms/showers, which means if you're leaving early the next day, you either shower in the coach or give up your $5 key deposit. This worked for us basically for the overnighter we were there, but I wouldn't recommend it at all. If you drive up the coast a bit closer to the Redwoods area, there are many more parks in this price range that looked much nicer from the road. One positive, don't miss the Palm Cafe in Orick, it was great diner food, and the folks were great. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice RV park. We stayed in the Stone Lagoon portion of the complex. Would not want to stay in the Redwood Trails area as it is completely covered with trees and very dark and damp. Stone Lagoon portion is out in the open and very nice. Elk roam throughout the facility. WiFi available at the "barn" and is user friendly. Would stay here again with our RPI membership. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a Passport America park, and the above rate reflects that. I believe they were charging $25 to non-Passport folks. DO NOT arrive here after dark, or if you do, make sure to check things out on foot before driving your rig down a dead end road, as we did. Turns out that the road is marked with a small sign with non-reflective paint. Anyway, the meadow is definitely a safer and easier place to park at night, though it is not particularly level. The whole place is very poorly lit, though this is not an issue if you go in the summer or arrive earlier. The office was closed when we got there (5:30), and there were no maps. WiFi works, though the signal is weak and did not reach to our coach. The Elk were a definite plus to us. We'd stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We've camped here twice in our 40' big rig. It's a wonderful spot because of the resident Roosevelt elk herd that feeds and often sleeps in the meadows nearby. On our Sept. 2007 visit, the herd walked right through the motorhome section and many of them posed for photos. Even though the park is just off Hwy 101, we've found it to be quiet with friendly management. Great spot for wildlife; sites are in a large meadow. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice park in the redwoods. Nice staff. Resident Roosevelt elk herd to take pictures of. Very green and a nice walk over to the beach. We will stay here again. Plenty of room for big rigs. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We reserved 7 days here and only stayed 1. The site was covered with large dropping from
the elk. The park is nothing more than an uneven grass field, no trees, with a few gravel roads. There was no cable TV. It was right next to the highway. We were very disappointed and will not stay here again. The rate was based on Coast to Coast membership. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A very nice park. It was quiet, clean, and well maintained. We had a site with an ocean view and there was a huge gnarly tree and lush green vegetation outside our back window. We had an internet connection but it was weak. The downside was that spaces are close together. But then we're used to national and state parks where the sites tend to be farther apart. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed for two months and loved it. Beautiful landscaping, great cable and Wi-Fi, friendly owner and staff, nice workout room, large hot tub, beautiful setting across the street from the cliffs overlooking the Pacific. You could hear the waves and the sounds of the sea lions. Convenient to Trinidad and Eureka, within walking distance of Patrick's Point State Park and Agate Beach. Trinidad is a charming, beautiful city. DON'T MISS IT!! If you like privacy, they have large sites on a hillside where you have your own private deck and are at least 20 - 30 feet away from the next RV. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What a difference driving another 50 feet north from View Crest Lodge. We left a slum and found paradise! Great managers! Clean friendly park. We'll come back next year for sure! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a neat and clean park, but the sites are darned small for a big rig. Also, in order to "hear the sounds of the sea and the seals on the rocks" as they claim, you better have a bionic ear. It is up a hill and a significant distance across the road from the ocean. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Well, if you like the cool weather in the hot summer, the sounds of the ocean and seals at your RV site, a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff, you will love this Park. Our only regret was that we could not stay more than one night. It is down in our book as a "Must Return" spot. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here June 1 - 3, 2005 on one of the "Super Sites" with patio & fire ring, and a very nice ocean view. The park & facilities were spotless with a friendly staff. Trinidad has alot to offer for the varied interests of our family and we plan to come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I stayed here for two days in summer of 2004. I had made a two week advance reservation for a "super site" and arrived to find it occupied. They put me into another site and told me my refund for the difference would be taken care of the next day. I went to the office the next day, close to closing time, and my refund was still not processed. I was then told the price difference between my expected site and occupied site was only $3.00 a day. The sign on the wall said it would be $5.00 a day. Not a big deal, just principal. Never did receive refund. Nice area, poor management of park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here in April so we got winter rates. You can see the ocean from most sites and
can hear sea lions barking off in the distance. Has wi-fi wireless computer network with up to 54Mps (G) connection. Has Cox cable TV with about 70 channels. Nice owners who were accessible most of the time. Also has some rentals. We ended up here after staying one day in another park in the area. I spent the next day checking out several parks in the area and would stay at this park again if visiting this area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

A great location in the Redwoods of Northern California near the Pacific. I really liked the
area and the Park was very relaxing and peaceful. The only parks I give "10's" to however are fully landscaped, grass and paved sites, such as Benbow Golf
and RV Resort in Garberville which we stayed at on the way up north. This park does not have those types of sites, but I would stay here again.

Stayed 7 days off season early December. A few long pull throughs, lots of back-ins. Only a few sites gave ocean view. We used their most expensive site, ocean view, under trees. Restroom and shower were very clean, lots of hot water and no pay showers, but no soap in restroom. They had serious roof leakage in laundry/modem hub area during several days of rain. Cable TV was substandard signal and power was sometimes low. This was on 30 Amp. Staff was nice, but only there mid day. We would stay there again, but there is are better camps in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
ABSOLUTELY NO MANAGEMENT! Poorly maintained park with unleashed dogs running throughout the park. Animal waste in the roadways and trailer spaces. Dirty restrooms, no toilet paper, filthy showers, poorly maintained roadways. Tijuana Mexico has cleaner campgrounds. Two big thumbs down! We camped here in a Motorhome.
When we arrived, we were told we would have the pick of any of the spots. Then she broke out
a map and circled the 5 spaces that were available. We knew then that we were in trouble. On our way up to the RV area we passed trailer after trailer that had obviously been there awhile. Dead vehicles, in unkempt "yards" were everywhere. Needless to say, we made our stop there as short as possible. The only reason this place gets a 4 is because of the owner. When we informed her that we would only be staying 1 night instead of the 4 we had reserved, she cheerfully refunded the remaining balance. Unless you REALLY need a place to stop for the evening, stay away. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
