Let's just start by saying we have camped here for the last 6 years.. Our very first impression years ago was, to say the least, not good. But, by the end of the weekend, we were hooked.. We have returned every year since for their Columbus day weekend and a few times during the summer.. Yes, the bathrooms are rustic but they are clean. When we first starting going there were a few older trailers, seasonal I think, that definitely needed upgrading but since then the new owners have been doing a wonderful job of keeping the place updated. I would recommend(and have) this campground to anyone!!! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
This review is in response to the previous review. We are frequent campers at River Bend and hope to become seasonal very soon. The seasonal waiting list is long as well it should be for this wonderful campground. The last review mentioned that the seasonal sites are dirty and rundown, are you sure you were at River Bend? I can think of at least 5 or 6 sites off the top of my head that are absolutely gorgeous well maintained sites. The bathrooms here are very clean, I have seen the staff cleaning them numerous times during the day. Are they new? No. Dirty? Not even close. The reason we decided to start camping here in the first place was due to the amount of activities they offer for not only kids but adults as well. There is definitely not a charge for all activities, the "extra" activities there may be a nominal fee. I challenge you to find a park that does not charge for any of their activities. The entrance I do agree is not a straight shot, but if you take it slow and follow the sweep of the road it is not a problem. I do it several times a year with my 35' motorhome and have no difficulties. River Bend has the same rules that most parks do, they even make you read and sign the pool rules when you check in. The staff are there to keep the park in check and make sure that everyone is having a good time, if a camper wants to have a few drinks I don't think it is up to the staff to monitor them. The security personnel do a great job making sure the people in the park are safe and secure. The store is not unlike most convenience stores, so the prices, I think, are not any different from my local Cumberland Farms. Plus its a great place to socialize and get to know other campers. I plan on many more years of camping at River Bend and other campers should go there and see for yourselves how wonderful it truly is. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Where do I begin. This campground is run down and the dirtiest I have seen in the fifteen plus years camping. Even my 11 and 9 year old son's commented on how bad the bathrooms were. The seasonals are dirty and rundown. Every activity had a charge. Do not judge the campground by the web site, totally different. The entrance/exit for the campground is POORLY designed. I had trouble getting in with a twenty seven foot trailer. Very little rules and LOTS of intoxicated people! The camp store was very expensive for food type items. (1/2 gallon of milk was over four dollars)! Many of the seasonal people have dogs and would leave them tied up outside to bark all day. We will not return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This campround, staff and facilities, was very friendly. The entrance was a bit confusing, but the staff made up for it. Bathrooms and showers, in the wooded are, were rustic but clean. On-site there were plenty of acrtivities, especially great horseshoe tournaments with some local "ringers" that make it very challanging. It can get a little noisy at night though. Off-site attractions, locally, were sparse. We were within reasonable distance to some great wineries and the casinos. We will return at least twice this year. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We stayed in a travel trailer for 5 days and had the very BEST family camping experience. I can't say enough about the nice and family orientated staff at Riverbend Campground. Christmas in July was the theme and every weekend is something different. We enjoyed FREE movies, popcorn for 10 cents and FREE DJ also every child got FREE hotdog and fries and got a special present from Santa, if Mom or Dad forgot the gift, this loving & caring staff made sure no child was left out. I never saw so many smiling faces. I found the pool clean, the sites shaded and excellent water pressure, everyone was able to use air conditioners. We got great food on Friday night (no cooking needed), snacks on Saturday, (great wings), and blueberry pancakes on Sunday. Our family got to relax and enjoy the many activities, the mine was fun, finding gems and panning for gold. The animal room was FREE and WE thought we were at the Bronx zoo. For the value, this place was incredible, we are going back for another week. Book early ....they are a FAVORITE family place, and now I know why !!!!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We recently camped at River Bend Campground and had a great time. The staff is friendly, the park is clean, the pool is very clean and the activities were fun. Even the weekday activities were good. The restrooms could use updating, but they have a new handicap restroom in the works and a new shower in one of the restrooms in the wooded area. I read reviews previously posted and wonder if the negatives were the same park. I drove in with a 38' motorhome, towing a car and had no trouble. The site could have been a bit more level, but we were able to get level with just a little help. I camped here about 8 years ago and I can tell you the park is a work in progress, the current owners are doing a great job, they started by tackling the electrical system and seem to have updated most of the park. The buildings are old but maintained, the only time the restrooms ever looked bad were during high use periods when my fellow campers didn't bother to pick-up after themselves. I saw the cleaning lady so many times in the course of a day, I felt I knew her personally. The messes she had to deal with, she deserves a medal! The only time they closed the pool was when the chlorine levels were low, mostly on the weekends when there were a lot of people in the pool. During the week they hardly closed it at all. I figure they can close it as often as necessary to keep the chlorine levels right, that keeps me safe!! I saw the pool guy every morning and spoke to him often as he cleaned the pool to get it ready to open it. He was always friendly and diligent in keeping that pool clean. As far as the extra charges, there was a train ride for a buck, a moon bounce for a buck and the mining adventure was $11.00 for a two part adventure. My kids got some great specimens and have started a collection. I thought the $11.00 was well worth it, when we took them to a similar place it was nearly twice the price and I had to pay to join them. The craft was free, though they did charge $1 for seconds. The improvements made since I was there last are great, they are not finished, but what they have done so far is impressive. I will definitely return, probably this year. We camped here in a Motorhome.
My family went to River Bend Campground in Oneco, CT, we had a great time. The staff are friendly and very helpful, my kids were busy with all the planned activities. The pool and bathrooms were very clean. Everyone there was very friendly. They have Wifi, and I was able to connect to the internet and get my email. We had such a good time we want to go back there. I recommended this campground to all my friends and family. River Bend is a great place to camp We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The entrance/exit was poorly designed. It was difficult to maneuver even without the camper attached. Our site was small and we were expected to pull through between the electrical hookup and some trees. Due to the position of the trees we were not able to use our awning. The staff was friendly and the pig roast was worth the additional charge. However, overall the campground was rundown and they charged extra for most activities. We would not return there, even if it were free. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Enterance not larger unit friendly. Field sights nice, good entertainment. For some unknown reason pool closed every day around noon (the hottest part of the day) for scheduled maintenance. Even though it only opened around 10:00a.m. it didn't seem to matter wether there were 50 people or 5 in it. Perhaps the pool guy can start getting up before 10:00 and do it then. Lots of kids, friendly staff. Nothing close-by off sight to do. Overall a nice quiet place for a quick get-away locally, but would probably not go back We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We had a great time here, and are planning on returning next year. Definitely a Family
campground! Kids everywhere, our kids were plenty busy with activities, the playground, and enjoyed the "gem mine". The "train ride" is fun, and the staff looked to be having a good time with the kids. Lots of dogs, but they were keep under control and no "dog stuff" around that I saw (and I looked). Facilities are older, but what I saw were well maintained (we used our trailer's bathroom/shower). A lot of the campground seems to be undergoing renovation (but no workers while we were there), our shaded site had brand new hookups placed perfectly for our trailer (how rare is that!). I checked "big rig access" because there were a bunch there, but the entrance road is tight. The pool looked new, and was very clean. Pretty much everyone we met return there every year, and even the seasonals were nice. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We went on the 4th of July 3 day holiday weekend in 2003. Our site was in the middle of the
field right next to the pavillion. The bathrooms were disgusting. There were three facilites but only one had showers. You had to duck your head down just to walk into the main bathroom. The showers were gross. Your could not control where the water was shooting or the temperature. The ladies room was scalding hot and the men's room was freezing water. The pool is too small for the number of people in the campground. The seasonals take over the place and have all the shaded spots. They did clean the pool often which helped to ease your mind considering there were way too many people in the pool. The activities were plentiful but a little expensive. Check in was easy as they met you at your car. Really need to update the shower/bathroom facilities and improve the playground area. Didn't check out the "goldmine" because the prices were too expensive. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Unique activities for kids...gemstone panning, wildlife exibit, etc. Our children ages 6 & 4 had lots of fun. Facilities need updating... Restrooms old, mini-golf rundown.... some fresh paint and newer facilities would go a long way here. We camped here in a Tent.
