Ashton Run is an older 90-space mobile home park that has 10 RV spaces. The park is being redeveloped, so many - maybe two-thirds - of the mobile home spaces are empty. Some brand new mobile homes and some older mobile homes. A few small children. Office has posted hours; suggest calling ahead. The RV spaces are all together in a row in the center of the park. Paved streets, speed humps, with very flat grass sites. No trees. Received the standard broadcast digital TV stations via RV antenna. No rec hall, laundry or bathhouse, so must be self-contained. Park was quiet and clean. US-98 between Fairfield & Blue Angel has many services: gas, fast food, retail, laundromat. Wal-Mart & Target are at the corner of Blue Angel & Sorrento, just north of NASP west gate. If you are outside your RV at 8am, most days you can hear the national anthem at NASP. We stayed here while visiting family members stationed nearby. We have been to P’cola with our RV at least 10 times; have stayed at Big Lagoon, Oak Grove, even in Lillian, AL; this was our longest stay; first time at this place; would stay here again. Rate shown is based on monthly rent. We stayed here two months, tried it for one and then added a second. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Great SP. I guess a somewhat older park designed to accommodate RVs smaller than today's monsters. The site we were given required some vehicular gymnastics, but we stuffed in & once there had adequate room. Enjoyed the boardwalks & took in a few sights of the area. The Naval Air Station museum is a must see & exceeded expectations. Spent most of a day there. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate reflects Florida Senior Rate. The sites were fairly level, but mostly sand & shell. The water quality was great, as was the electric hook-up. There is a nice boardwalk through the lagoon area. The rest rooms were clean, but had stair access from certain parts of the campground. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice state park near Pensacola and Perdido Key. Check in was easy; we were able to drive through to pick our site. Fairly level sites, close together with scrub brush vegetation between them. Great hikes nearby, access to lagoon and ocean near, lots of area restaurants and shopping in Pensacola. Bathhouses were older, but were cleaned daily. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Thursday, February 28 - Big Lagoon State Park, Pensacola, Florida This is the last state park on the Panhandle before one enters AL. This park has 75 campsites with water and electricity, fire rings and picnic tables. One can swim, fish, boat, crabbing and hike in this park on 678 acres. Depending on the season there are guided walks, campfire programs and recreational skills programs. There are over five miles of hiking and nature trails that take you on roads, boardwalks, sand bars and marshes. There is an observation tower to view the park, the Intracoastal Waterway, Gulf Islands National Seashore and Perdido Key. This is the beginning of the Great Florida Birding Trail. Some sites are on cement and others on hard pack dirt and sand. Many campers were staying for an overnight but others stayed for one week or more. It did feel like it was Florida in its natural state except for seeing litter on some of the hiking trails and marshes. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a nice campground with a couple of hiking trails. We had a concrete pad at our site. Restroom/showers are very good and warm. It was quiet and peaceful on a winter's night... We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was an really nice campground. This was our first camping experience in the panhandle. The campsite was clean and easy to get into, and we have a 36 ft. travel trailer. It is a typical state park campground which is woodsy and plenty of surrounding vegitation. Our site, 50, did not have any trees, but a lot of foliage which acted as a buffer from the other sites. We enjoyed the wildlife in the area. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice state park with very clean, well maintained amenities. Example: the beachfront pavilions and rest rooms are all in very good condition and reflect the care given them. Wonderful waterfront views out over the Big Lagoon, scenic nature trails etc. Price reflects senior discount, we stayed 8 nights and would definitely return. Some sites are very sandy but that's Florida. Staff is excellent and went out of their way to assist in all areas. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We loved this place! Close to the ocean. Close to Pensacola. Close to the Naval air base where the Blue Angels call home. We saw them do one of their weekly shows for people that come to the base. Awesome! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park near Naval Air Museum. Sites are compacted sand with some space between most sites. Park staff very friendly and know the area. Great boardwalk to beach area. Great bird watching. Will come back here without a doubt. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a good state park but is showing it's age. The facilities are clean but feel worn out. There are nice boardwalks giving access to water. Kids were having a great time fishing. Good location for Naval Aviation Museum - a definite must see - and downtown Pensacola is an easy commute. Rules were not always enforced with dogs off leash at times. The sites vary in size and those located on the 'water' side are near marsh pools. Surprisingly the insects were not present but site always felt damp. Park is a great value for price paid and would stay again if in area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A nice FL state park, with sites well separated by bushes and dunes. Access to some is a challenge for longer rigs like our 30' Airstream with the long Henlsey hitch and big truck. We wiggled in and were delighted by the trail to the beach. We moved here after the Canopener at Topsail, so it was a marked contrast, of course. I'd come back to be close to the Naval Air Museum. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park is great! It has wonderful hiking trails, swimming beaches, and boardwalks. There were also numerous picnic areas. The campground had a very nice playground. Pets are not allowed on the beaches, but they are allowed on all of the hiking trails and boardwalks. In March the mosquitoes & bugs were not bad at all. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table, and posts for a laundry line. Numerous beach areas for swimming along the intercoastal waterway. The swimming areas were long narrow white sand areas, and there were plenty of shallow areas for wading and splashing around. Bathrooms were always clean. Firewood, ice, and soda machines available at the bathhouse areas and/ or the campground host areas. I would have given this park a 10 except for the fact that the campground lacks laundry facilities. No washers/ dryers anywhere in the park which was surprising since they offered every other amenity. Staff was nice and knowledgeable. Binoculars for birding (free for check-out), canoes, and kayaks for rent at the office. Great place. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This state park campground is located in a pine scrub environment. Sites are a bit small because of vegetation, but the vegetation also provides tremendous privacy between well spaced sites. Wildlife was abundant, and the trails were good for hiking. The perimeter road is good for bicycling and moonlit walks, too. Park is gated at night and a pass code is needed. Be sure to get it before you go if you plan on a late arrival after sundown. Great Horned Owl whoo'd all night long. Bathrooms and showers were spotless. Two downers: A. Jet noise from NAS Pensacola was annoying during the day; B. Unpaved sites kept us sweeping sand out of the camper often, even when we brushed our feet. These two factors cause a bit lower rating. Part of the Florida experience. We would camp here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Price reflects Florida resident senior rate. This is a lovely park with only a handful of 50 amp sites. There are some trees & scrub oak to give a little privacy to sites. The sites are not huge but adequate for our motorhome & tow vehicle. The location of the park is superb. Don't miss the Naval Aviation Museum and the Blue Angels practice! The park has nice areas for swimming (although not a large beach) & picnicking, hiking, biking, walking, etc., and a playground for the kids. Ice and firewood available on the campground. We were especially pleased with the cleanliness and upkeep of the bathhouses. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The site was fairly level but we did require a double stack of lynx levelers on one side. Sites are spaced apart well and separated by shrubs and trees. Bath houses are centrally located for each loop but the loop 3 bath house was closed for repairs (we were in loop 1). We lost 30A power at one time as did the site across from us but it was restored within the hour. No consolation in 99 degree heat, though. We also lost water pressure for about 2 hours one day. Ranger stated the park is 28 years old and never been upgraded but they are planning on it. Many sites are sandy and we even had to use our 4WD to pull out another camper who got stuck, we noticed a lot of sites were very uneven and some were very, very small. Large Class As might have an issue fitting in any of the sites, in fact, we didn't see any during our stay. Mostly tents, travel trailers and a few 5th wheels. Sign at the park said rates are going up to $20 per night in July 2009. Overall, it was a decent campground, close enough to visit everything yet far enough out to be away from traffic and congestion. We would stay here again if we had to but it wouldn't be our first choice. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is our second trip to this campground. First time we had site 41 directly across from playground with 15 and 30 amp service. This time we had site 28 on the south side of loop one with 15 and 50 amp service only. I thought this was odd that 30 amp wasn't offered at the sites on the south side of loop 1 as most campers use 30 amp and the sites were too small for a large fifth wheel or motor coach. I had to pull out my 15 amp adapter to use the electric service and ended up blowing the breaker while using my microwave with all of the lights and TV on. Luckily it was cool enough that we didn't have to use the A/C or we would have been in the dark a lot. The staff was friendly but the campsites definitely need to be updated, leveled, and enlarged. The camp hosts were having to bring gravel in to fill sites that had been flooded and muddy due to recent heavy rains. The campground is convenient to the beaches and many nice restaurants. It is very family friendly but try to go for the sites on the north side of the campground if possible. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The park is really nice. It is fairly large and has lots of trails and boardwalks. The park roads and trails are great for walking, running and biking. They have several facilities and a tower along the beach. We saw a plenty of wildlife. The park is very quiet except for the occasional Navy trainer flying over. There are lots of sightseeing opportunities in the area plus the Naval Air Museum. I have been going to the museum for many years and I think it is one of the best in the nation. I highly recommend it. However, as nice as we thought the park was, we cannot say the same for the camping sites. The sites are very small, sandy, and uneven. Most will only accommodate the camper and one vehicle. A couple of the sites are big enough for a slide-out, an awning and the fire ring but not much more. The campground road is very narrow. Most everyone regardless of equipment size had trouble getting into their sites. The bathrooms and facilities were very clean but are older and in need of upgrading. They were working on one bathroom while we were there. There are no laundry facilities on site but the staff said there were some close by. Even though we loved the park, because of the condition of the campground sites and the availability of other nicer campgrounds in the Florida panhandle, we are not sure if we will be going back. We would love for them to improve the sites but I don’t think there are any plans to do. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We weren't crazy about this cp only because the sites are very sandy (that fine, white sand) surrounded by alot of unattractive bushes annd trees. Not very interesting. The rangers were very nice at checkin and the restrooms were clean, if not a little old. Overall a decent, quiet park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Lots of nature walks, which were nice. Very shallow RV spaces if you have a larger (longer) rig. A bit overpriced for the actual spaces offered. Stayed for a day, but wouldn't have stayed longer. Why have 50 amp hookups if the site can't accommodate the kind of motorhome that needs 50 amps? Even in our rig, we had to move back and forth to use electricity, water, dump. Very strange. Even in a smaller rig, you would have to figure out your priorities: hook up electricity and water or dump hose, because you can't do all three. We camped here in a Motorhome.

There are 50 amp sites, but the State wasted their money by upgrading small sites that will not accommodate large rigs that use 50 amps. The road along the south side of the camp ground is very narrow and limits backing into the sites. We were given 46. No way I could get my 36 foot 5th wheel pulled by a Ford crew cab, long bed truck into the site. We changed to the north side where the road is wider and allowed more turning room. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park with lots of room to do and play on intercoastal waterway. Kind of tight when maneuvering with longer trailer. Beach access from Boardwalk. Nicely wooded areas around campsites. We really enjoyed the privacy, fire rings and picnic table. Campground hosts were very helpful. Only 30 amps in sites that will accommodate big rigs. Not many tall trees because of hurricane Ivan (9-04). Shower houses are not all heated. The first one is the best one, so you might get a site close to it. No shower curtains, so clothes in dressing area may get wet. No laundry but there is a great drop off service behind the Sherwin-Williams store: ask a host about it. I don't give this higher than an 8 because I like sewer service. But the dump station was easy to get to. We liked it so much we stayed here 5 nights after planning on only 2. Eat at the Shrimp Basket and visit the Naval Museum. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

One of a few campsites in the Pensacola area that are available to the non military. The staff were extremely friendly, but unfortunately the sites were very poorly maintained. The patchy grass around the picnic table was over 2' tall, and the ragweed was everywhere. an extra 10' of camp site could have been obtained with judicious mowing. The site I was directed to (I have a 30 footer) was soft enough to allow my pickup to sink to its axles when trying to hook up when leaving. Help was available and as I said the staff was very helpful. Sorry to say, I will not be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice state park close to the Gulf Of Mexico. Some of the sites are very short so pay close attention to the details. If you make your reservation on Reserveamerica, note some of the park is still closed due to the devastation from Ivan last year but it is slowly getting back to normal. They have a small beach on the lagoon and the Gulf is a 10 minute drive away. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

A coastal state park in a sandy oak/pine scrub environment... almost desert-like. Sites are semi-shade. Access to campground is via paved road, leading to 75 back-in sites made of sand and packed shell. Each site has a fire ring. Sites might be considered small for larger campers. Bathrooms and showers are spotless and well kept. Campground staff and hosts are friendly. They sell ice and firewood onsite. Kids playground is well kept and well used, nice. In-park beaches are white sand and on the lagoon (not the Gulf of Mexico). Picnic pavillions and tables are at the beach. Beach is accessed via a nice boardwalk system from the campground. Gulf beaches must be accessed by leaving the park and crossing over to Perdido Key. No-See-Ums are present, especially at dusk. Quiet at night. We camped here in a Tent.

This is our 2nd year staying at NAS Pensacola and we love it. Our site was located right next to the dunes and path to the beach. Concrete pads and full hook ups are just right. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The facilities are very well maintained. Dog friendly beach and ours stayed in the water as much as she could. Historic lighthouse is a short walk or bike ride and a little further is one of the best aviation museums in the country. You must be active duty, retired military or DOD civilian to visit and use the facilities, but it is one of our favorite campgrounds. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We just love this campground. Nice large concrete pads for our 42' RV. Paved streets with large lots and very convenient to anything you need. Good home cooking available at Crazy Horse nearby. Individual in the office is very helpful. We had a late arrival time so he told us to just go on in and find a place and see him in the morning. A gentleman walking in the park helped us find a good pull-through spot (Site #32). Would like to come back and spend more time. Wish they had reservations. We lucked out this time! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice facility - being active duty spouse it was very convenient to the base facilities - although just a small store on campground proper. The new sites now open are beautiful - hopefully they will keep the grounds up better than they do on the older part. Biggest complaint is they are getting rather pricey for a military installation - pushing $600 a month is rather steep. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The kids loved being close to the beach, and walked to it every afternoon. We saw stingray and dolphins come in and play within 50 feet of us. It was a bit buggy in the evenings. We didn't stay in them, but there were new sights opening up that will be really nice. We will definitely stay here again. The only down side was that it was so far from the base.

Great sites on the water, nice beach and facilities. Would have given it a 10 if they took reservations. We called ahead and were told there was plenty of room, reality was there were 2 sites with water and electric only, and they were in the Anchor Cove. It's lovely shaded and wooded area, but can be challenging to get in and out of in a bigger rig. Nice heads/showers so not the end of the world I just hate to hook up, dump and back in again. We got on the wait list for full hookups, and within a couple days we were over in Battleship Row. Good news is they are building an additional 24 pads with full hookups, so that should free that up some. Super friendly and helpful staff while we were there, certainly would stay again. This could be an excellent campground and really is except for the upkeep of the grounds. Grass is cut maybe once a year, fire rings a mess, weeds all over the place and obviously the on-site manager could care less. Right on Perdio Bay - beautiful sun sets and usually very quiet. Level cement pads and 50 AMP - this could be one of the best campgrounds in the Department of Defense if they would get someone who really cares for something other than disk golf. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We parked in "Battleship Row" which were the FHU sites, and had a smallish site with little or no yard, corner site. Shade with beautiful views of Perdido Bay. Sandy beach, but needed maintenance. Many boat rentals. Nice folks working here. An ocean site would have been nice, but looked like homesteaders there. Very close to City makes for a nice place to relax. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is great!!! It has just re-done 25 sites with new concrete pads and 50Amp service with sewer hook-up. Price for these sites is $20.00 a day, but the other sites with 30Amp service and NO sewer hook-up is only $10.00 a day. There is a dump station at these sites. Many things to do like boating, fishing, putt-putt golf, tennis and just a lot of nature. They also have cabins for rent and good primitive campground. Reserved for Active and Retired military and DOD employees. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is located on an old Navy base called Bronson Field. It's open to active,
retired, and DoD employees. I have to give the Navy a big thumbs up for what they've accomplished here. For only $7.50 per night this campground offers a beach, hiking/bike trails, putt-putt, bike, canoe and kayak rentals, ski boat and pontoon boat rentals, camp store with laundry, marina, large sites with great shade. It was packed during the Labor Day weekend yet was still quiet. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Patrolled by attentive camp employees and Navy police in marked vehicles. Seemed very safe and secure. There are a few things that would make this campground much better but at only $7.50 per night I won't even begin to get picky. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Drifters RV park was great, from checking in to leaving. The owners were great. The park was clean and well laid out. We were lucky enough to get a site with a wooden deck which really helps to keep the camper clean. Very quiet, peaceful park. Grass is kept trimmed and bath house was cleaned on a daily basis or as needed. We spent a month at Driftes with our three children. They loved getting on the golf cart with the owners for a ride through the park. Wifi and cable worked great. They were planting fruit trees throughout the park. It will be great when they produce. Will definitely return in November. We walked to Home Depot, Denny's and Chili's. Wal Mart is one block over behind park. It was not like the park use to be a field. It was real comfortable with a homey feeling. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a small, quiet campground except for the constant trains that run right behind it. There is no playground and I didn't see any children the whole time we were here. They are very pet friendly. They say free Wi-Fi, but we had very little connection time for our entire stay. It would constantly connect then disconnect and reconnect. I might come back if I have my own internet access through Sprint or Verizon. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The owners are really nice people and took good care of us. We were in town for a 30 day contract job for my husband. The park is clean, the owners work in it every day. The bathroom/showers and laundry are cleaned on a daily basis. This park is close to all you could need while you are here, ie: Home Depot, Lowe's, Chili's, Denny's, propane, Wal-Mart, Walgreen's, and many restaurants. They are pet lovers and even have a fenced area to turn dogs loose for potty breaks! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Overall a good RV Park while on business in Pensacola or for retired persons looking for a basic, friendly, convenient to most all things park. The owners, Gene and Joan Jones, are wonderful folks and maintain a safe and quiet environment. The rear or east end of the park boarders an active railroad track. The combined bath house and laundry room is not air conditioned and is very uncomfortable to be inside on a typical Florida summer day or night. The bath rooms accommodate only one person at a time. Nothing is provided to dry hands on. The bath rooms do not get cleaned daily. The bath house entrance has no walkway - it is over uneven grass lawn that floods terribly when it rains. A typical Florida summer down pour will flood the campsites with an inch or so of water that will take an hour or so to drain away. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Walking distance to the beach makes staying here great. We stayed in loop A site 35, it was about 4 inches off level on passenger side. There is more space between campsites in loop A. Hosts were friendly and easy going. The bathhouses need updating. You have to pay $8.00 fee at main entrance to national park to get to campground unless you have Golden Access or similar then it doesn't cost anything. We will return next vacation. This is a beautiful but primitive park with the most wonderful beaches anywhere. Loop A is walking distance from the gulf side beach ( just barely) but the other loops are too far to carry stuff on foot, but a very short drive. There are showers and restrooms at the beach. One campground restroom was closed completely, and all the rest were really worn out and not very comfortable to use; you may be a long walk from a bathroom depending on your site. Some sites are very roomy, some are tighter. We saw many osprey, some armadillos, and heron. It is a long slow drive to any stores or places to eat, and the road can close due to flooding. But worth it all for the beaches and interesting fort, and a great value particularly with the senior discount. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Great value with senior discount. Most sites are very level with the exception of A loop which has some grade on certain sites. Check site descriptions carefully. Some have trees that may cause problems for roofs and slides. Very good TV via batwing. Verizon cell and broadband both very good. I dearly love this place and will stop every time I get the chance. It is my understanding the restrooms are being remodeled. I sure hope so because they are about done. With all the government budget cuts I am sure this too will get the ax. If they had new restrooms, this place would be a 10. The staff is always friendly which is refreshing for government employees. I did request a specific spot near the restroom and for some reason they would not give it to me. It was not occupied during my stay so I will be asking why that happened. Those wonderful beaches will always keep me coming back even if I have to shower in the ocean. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for 4 nights. Had planned to stay longer, but it was supposed to rain for the next 3 days, so we left. The $10/night fee reflects Interagency Senior Pass rate; otherwise the fee is $20.00. Camp sites are short and fairly close together, but this is a good place to stay if you like to be near the ocean and beaches of Santa Rosa Island. We recommend this park. We stayed here for 14 nights. Our first site was in Loop A. Trees make getting into some of the sites difficult, but we had scoped out the park in advance and had picked site A14 accordingly. Needed to adjust the position of the RV so that branches did not hinder opening the driver side slides. The power pedestal went on the fritz a few hours after we arrived. We notified the host and used the pedestal for the empty site next to us overnight. The next day, we were given a list of back-up sites to choose from. Chose a site in Loop C, which we liked better. It was more open. There were no trees to make maneuvering difficult, but if all sites are filled, some sites might be difficult to get into with a big rig. Tows must be parked on the pad; no parking on the grass or in empty sites (monitored by the hosts). Overflow for tow and other vehicles available. Loved the easy access (across the road) to the sugar white sand beaches of the Gulf and to Pensacola Bay on the opposite side. Fort Pickens is an easy beach stroll away, and the NPS gives a nice tour of the fortifications (only program available when we were there). We would most definitely stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate is the campground rate. There is an additional vehicle entry fee of $8 per week. This is a Federal Park part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. It looks like a Florida State park because it was until 1971 when it became part of the NPS. We stayed in the A Loop. Paved roads, paved sites, most with trees and shade. Bath house is very old and needs updating. It was clean, but old. Each site has 50 amp electric and water. A Dump station is close and easily accessible. Parking is available for additional cars of boat trailers. This park is on the west end of Florida, on one of those beautiful white sand beaches that extend from St. George Island to FloraBama. Fort Pickens is a good historic tour with plenty of walking, biking, and beach to explore. Also convenient to restaurants and attractions in Pensacola Beach and Pensacola proper. We will definitely return to this park! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great campground. Rate reflects senior rate. 50 amp good, water good. Camped in a 38 ft motorhome and site was fine. Asphalt, slightly unlevel, but most are. Lots of locals, tents and small trailers on weekend. Full of kids on weekends . We did not have any with us but no problems. Perfect beach with white sand, warm water and great breezes. Be sure and visit the fort and batteries. Great place full of history. Great place to bike ride. Can accommodate large rig, but you have to select the right site. On their reservation system they have a photo of the actual site. Very helpful when you are large and also looking for something that is satellite friendly. Was able to get 10 local channels with antenna. Will definitely be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a federal park with the gulf on one side and the bay on the other. Both are within walking distance of the campground. The gulf beaches have the whitest sand I've seen in Florida! Price reflects a 50% discount for senior pass. The location is definitely a '10'. The campground is nice; our site was level and large; the pad is asphalt; some sites have trees to work around. It rained some during our stay and the site got a bit muddy. Be sure to take time to see the fort: it's fascinating. We also were here at a time when the Blue Angels from the naval base were practicing and had a great view from the park. The bathhouses need updating and cleaned more often. After the first day, we showered in our camper. We will definitely return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

At first I was rather worried when driving to this place. It is a long way from the main roads and runs through 20 minutes of condo/hotel areas on the beach. But, once I got here it was worth it. You pass through dunes and bird nesting areas to get to the campground, which is great for bird watching! The campground was full and lots of people seem to be locals. I was a little worried at first but the kids and I had great time here! Kids are riding bikes everywhere, other campers were chatty and friendly 'invited my kids over for smores.' If you don't like families don't come here. The sites were small so I don't know if I would bring a big rig in here. The fort is great, the beaches are great and the bird watching is awesome! I would stay here again for sure. During bad weather sometimes the road floods, so watch for that too! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Overall a nice campground, although the "big rig access" should be taken with a grain of salt. My trailer is 44 feet long, and I found it very tight, although doable in Loop A. Forget about the other ones, the sites there are entirely too small. One thing to bear in mind, it will cost you $1 a trip to go from the mainland to Pensacola Beach, and $8 to get back to the campground, although that last figure is for a week. This is a typical National Park: clean, well-maintained and supervised. The sites are paved but some are very short: pay attention to site descriptions. At least half of the sites have some privacy by appropriate vegetation growing between sites. The location is very nice. It's in an undeveloped end of Santa Rosa Island. Large portions of the island are over-developed but the park is very natural. This is the second year we have camped there. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

Part of Gulf Islands National Seashore (GINS) Fort Pickens Area about 8 miles west of Pensacola Beach. Pretty campground in a barrier island / sand dune / scrub oak setting. Gulfside beaches are second to none (white, clean sand), no oil or tarballs present. Bayside beaches are also lovely. There are two major campground loops... Loop A, and Loops B,C,D, and E. Loop A is exclusive to itself, while the other loops are interconnected. Loop A is more forested with scrub oaks and a few pines, while Loops B,C,D and E are more open. Adequate space between sites, but no vegetative barrier for privacy. Bathrooms were clean, but showers had missing tiles and grout, and a mildew problem. Simply put, and in concert with a previous review, the bathouses are dated and need to be replaced. Two dump stations available. Campground store is open, limited supplies and prices higher. Good gravel bicycling trail to Fort Pickens. Fishing pier available. Good birdwatching, especially for Osprey. U.S. Navy's Blue Angels performed practice runs one morning from nearby NAS Pensacola. Saw one Cottonmouth Water Moccasin coiled behind our neighbor's camper. There is an $8 USD fee to enter this part of GINS in addition to campground fees, but these can be reduced or eliminated with the purchase of a GINS annual pass for $25 if you frequent the area, or with a senior interagency card, which will get you in free and reduce the campground fee by 50%. We have camped here before and will again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Price reflects Golden Pass discount. The sites are sandy and level. Most of the bigger trees were blown down by Hurricane Ivan a few years ago. So, no foliage separation of sites. The fort is closely by hike,bike, or car. It is well worth the price of admission, as they say. At our visit, it was very windy. Part of Gulf Islands National Seashore Park. Indicates the lack of funding that National Park Service has for their park up-keep. I gave it a 7 because of the beautiful location which overrides the non-descript sites and worn out bathhouses. If you love natural surroundings with access to both a gorgeous bay and fabulous, white sand beach, then this is your spot. Firepits, picnic tables, electric and water all work well but are old. Sites are paved and well spaced. Wonderful hiking trails, fishing, swimming, beach combing, wildlife and historic Ft. Pickens to explore. We got 50% off of the regular $20 rate due to being seniors. This park is definitely worthy of a nice vacation, and we would definitely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Rate reflects the 8 dollar entrance fee into the National Park, That fee is good for a week, so nightly rate to camp is 20. This is a quite park that allows you to explore the ruins of Historic Fort Pickens, as well as enjoy the beach. Restrooms are clean, but dated. Showers had plenty of hot water. Sites are private and are fairly level concrete. "A" section can accommodate bigger rigs. Loved listening to the presentation of colors at 8 a.m. This park is close to Pensacola, Navarre Beach and Gulf Breeze Florida. The Naval Air Museum is close and free, as well as the Pensacola light house. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

This is a National Park Campground. I booked on line after looking at Google maps and choosing a site. Some of the sites are hard to get into because of tree limbs, apparently the Park Service does not trim them because they are Live Oaks and protected. The park is a 3 minute walk from the gulf of Mexico. AT&T worked here. The rate reflects a Golden access pass at 50% of the normal rate. We will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

When you drive out the road to this park, you think that you are at the end of the world. Close, you are the end of Santa Rosa Island, however, when you arrive at the campground it's very nice. Great roads, good pads and plenty of room to manuever. Motorhomes and larger fifth wheels will like the A loop better. The other loops are nice, but the pads are shorter. Great boardwalks to the very nice beaches. I loved hearing the raising and lowering of colors at the Naval Air Station across the bay. Also the old fort at the end of the island is worth browsing. I camped in Campground A over the Memorial Day weekend. The price reflects me using my Golden Age Passport. The sites are not overly large, but I was able to get my motorhome (35 foot) in without too much trouble. The shower and restroom facilities were always very clean. I'm a history buff so I enjoyed touring the forts and batteries located within the park. Rated an 8 because there is no sewage hookup. Located on Santa Rosa Island right next to Pensacola Beach. There is an entrance fee $8 for a week per carload and then a camping fee. Golden Age pass no fee and camping half price $10 for water and electricity. Reservations can be made for March through October and it is strongly suggested that you have them. Most sites were taken the two nights we were there.One can swim in the Gulf of Mexico or Pensacola Bay. This is a beautiful area with white sand beaches with hardly anyone on them. We were in loop A and could walk the broad walk to the Gulf. The beach is stunning! A half mile from the campground one can visit Ft. Pickens, Visitor Center, the bunkers around the fort, or sit on the seawall watching the Blue Angels practice on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from the Naval Base across the bay. We even saw campers scuba diving and snorkeling on the bay side. So many campers had told us to stay here and we were not disappointed. It is a beautiful area that had been devastated from Katrina and rebuilt. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park was clean and had easy access to beaches on the gulf and the bay. Selecting a site needs to be done carefully. The spot we had was secluded and had a beautiful view of the full moon out the back door. Some sites are just flat grass and devoid of any privacy. Pick what you want. Recently repaved roads & site pads, but both still too narrow. As mentioned by others, must park on pad or in overflow: rangers giving out tickets, so beware. Unfortunately, not enough overflow parking so some illegal parking did make the roads difficult to traverse when exiting the park in the AM. Also the new paving of campsites raised the sites 4"-5" so when exiting your RV, expect a high curb 7"-8" on our site to the grassy area of site; the narrow pad makes this more of a safety issue. Beaches beautiful! Campground a bit crowded on the weekend with a party crowd. I noticed that not all facilities are handicap accessible, ADA site in loop A required walking through sand to get to the restroom. Very few shaded sites. Also many sites difficult to get in for big rigs. Though we didn't have it, site 30 in Loop A, looked real easy to park in. Overall, nice beach, Fort Pickens very informative, but if you've got a big rig, I'd look for another more spacious campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The sites have recently been repaved after Ivan damage in 2004, but unfortunately were not enlarged. For some reason, the access to the power post (50 amp) is very limited...I could NOT reach the post at my site with my attached 50 amp cord since my electric bay is well in front of the rear wheel and the post is almost 20 feet behind where the pavement ends..I was lucky to have a 30 amp cord to make the connection at all! I noticed that most of the sites have this same bad design. The park is clean but access to the gulf OR Pensacola bay is not real convenient..and Ivan killed most of the trees, most sites are totally in the sun. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Some of the statements below reflect the pitiful condition of the campground following Hurricane Ivan and the park closure from 2005-2009, and the bad news from the oil spill of 2010. Here's the story: The campground is fully functional, all visitor facilities are open, and the beach is simply beautiful. The "A" Loop is a stand-alone loop, and is closest to the Gulf of Mexico via very nice boardwalk trail. Loops B, C, D, and E are combined. In all loops, there are a variety of site sizes. The "B" and "D" loops are primarily for small van campers and tenters, while all other loops have sites that will accommodate all mid-sized RV's. Some sites may have problems with big rigs. All wheels (cars and RV's) must stay on asphalt, and the park enforces this rule. No grass parking. If you cannot fit the vehicle, to overflow it goes. The sites are more open than in the past due to Hurricane Ivan, but all stumps are removed, there are no safety hazards. There are still some shade sites, but most sites are more sun than shade. Space between sites is adequate. All power boxes are new with 50, 30, and 20 amp setup. Water pressure was great, quality good. Entire campground has been resurfaced with asphalt, including all campsites. Small store sells supplies at inflated prices, no propane or gasoline available. Numerous trails and bicycle routes. B-E Loops also has boardwalk to the beach. Dump station water valve worked fine. First come first serve from November 1 through February 28. Use Reserve America between March 1 and October 31. Entry fee to park is $8 or use Interagency Pass or Golden Age (additional to campground fee). Between the hiking, biking, fishing, beaching, fort exploring, and relaxing, we had a great time and will be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a typical NP CG because the restrooms need a lot of tender loving care but location is the key. The miles and miles of beaches are beautiful the Ft. Pickes is very interesting, both very easy access from the campground by trail or bike the road. Sites were roomy w/table and fire ring. They have a reservation system and I would recommend using it because it can get busy on weekends. We camped here in a Motorhome.

It is quiet and peaceful. A bare bones site as with any national campgrounds but the host was friendly. There was hardly anyone there when we were there so it was very quiet. The sites were good sized. We were able to use our Golden Pass and would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Golden Age rate and a great value hence the 9. All sites are paved and level, we were in Loop A with 50 amps and water. They are actively cleaning the beaches in the area. We were not affected by the oil in any way, but you could see signs of it. We were able to walk on the beach. Great place that we need to go back to as we did not have enough time to visit the fort. My family spent 5 days in the Fort Pickens campground, primarily to have good access to the beach and to get away from the more crowded tourist areas. The trip was a success in that the beach was almost empty. There were more workers on the beach than tourists. The road leading to the campground is very low: had water and sand either standing in the road, or completely covering the road during most of our stay. Area A has the longer pads and better drainage. I saw water standing around campers in areas B, C, and D. The grass was about a foot high when some of it finally got mowed. There were water faucets running every day to flush the lines. The dump station did not have a water faucet to use for flushing my tanks. The walkway from the camping area to the gulf beach is just a path through the dunes since the boardwalk has not been rebuilt. Almost all trees are broken off and dead. Only a few sites have trees that provide shade. This is a great place to get away from town, people, and stores and just walk on the beach and relax. Sprint data card and AT&T cell phones worked fine. No problem with dish network either because there are no tall trees to block the signal. There is also a $8 charge per vehicle to enter the area and is good for a week. I paid $20 per night for camping. This is a great value considering all that it includes like touring the old military fort and batteries, access to miles of beach, and a hiking trail. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Note that this is the same campground listed as Fort Pickens under Santa Rosa Island. Newer reviews appear in this listing. Several of the loops are undergoing some sort of sewer construction, apparently for the bath house. That was the reason we were given on one day for the very low, to nonexistent, water pressure that we had. Except for that and the "boil water notice" that we received during our stay, everything else was great. In talking with one of the workers here, the low pressure seems to be a common occurrence. One of the pumps died while we were here, thus the reason we were told NOT TO DRINK the water. Now I get to sanitize my RV plumbing. Although in terms of roads and other amenities, this park appears fine, I think mechanically they reopened too soon. The closest bottled water, for example, is about four miles away in town. My son also noted there were no paper towels/dryers or hand soap in the bathrooms. With the low water pressure, the toilets weren't flushing anyway. If I were going back, I would certainly call first to make sure the water was deemed safe to drink again. Having no water in such a remote location is a big pain. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We were so happy to finally get to return to our favorite campground! Everything was gong well. There were not a lot of campers (20 -30%) full but the campground was in good shape. There is still work to be done but it looks good. Still have plenty trees. The boardwalks are not there yet but the walk to the beach was easy. Now for the problem...Ida the hurricane! Yea, we had to leave a day early. The only reports of damage is the road is covered with sand. Up to 7 feet of it! There is a phone number to call (850-934-2656) that says the road should be open in late December 09. Can't wait to return! Oh, by the way, I don't rate any campground a 10 unless it has 50 amp, water, sewer, cable and working Wi-Fi. Again, GREAT place to visit!!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I didn't actually camp here but just wanted to give an update. The roads leading to the campground are being rebuilt and are expected to open in early April. For info on the park you can call (850) 677-1089. Press 1 for general info and I believe pressing 3 will give you info about the campground. As of right now you can only get to the CG from boat. From what we could see at the "Road Closed" signs there are not many trees at all still standing. Hurricane Ivan really messed up the surrounding Gulf Coast. I'm not sure if they will reopen the Fort. I had to give this CG a rating so I went with 5. I also had to put in a cost, not to sure if that's what it is or not?? We camped here the last time before the hurricanes. It is a beautiful campground, if you like nature. It is not fancy, but has all the necessities. The only problem is, the campground is still not open for RVs. It is only open for hikers and boaters. I have been in touch with the NPS for a couple of years, and it looks like it may never open to RV's. So sad that the NPS would spend money alloted to rebuild this campground on "other" things. We were probably some of the last people to camp here between the hurricanes of 2004.
This was a beautiful park. I hope they will bring it back to its natural glory. There are 2 areas for camping-loop A which is closer to the beach and loops B-E. Loops B and D are tent only sites. There are 3 bathhouses all were showing their extreme age and needed updating, I guess they will get it now. All sites are paved and back-in. There are curbs to stop your rig from going in the grass. All sites have picnic tables and grills with a fire ring. 2 dump stations. Loop A is only open on weekends. Loop B-E is always open. Some sites have shade, some don't. No playground. There is a fort to explore that has a gift shop, and there are ranger led tours daily. Beach is within a short walk. Bay is a bit farther but can be walked to. Camp store has all the essentials as well as firewood. There are walking trails and bike trails. Junior Ranger program for kids. We will be back once it opens again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed for a few days and what a place! Not maintained and lots of FEMA trailers. 99.9% are full time shady people with lots of dog crap everywhere. The two people running the park are not very good and the lady had a really fowl mouth. The lake had no fish and I mean NO FISH. The web site is so deceiving. This is a trailer Park not a camp ground. PS watch where you walk , You will step in dog crap. Oh! Helicopters fly over head all day long. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Of the 40 sites all but about eight were occupied by permanent residents. We were the only over nighters we noticed. This may be because the park is about four miles from I-10, which means no traffic noise. The Wi-Fi worked fine and has an ID & password required to sign in. Many RV parks do not think it is important to have a password which allows hackers access to your private information. The bathrooms consisted of one mens room and one women's room. The mens had two toilets side by side with no privacy divider and one enclosed shower & a sink. The door could be locked. I talked to one resident adult who was fishing in the adjoining lakes - he had caught a few 1-1/2 lb large-mouth bass in the lakes and was hunting a four pounder he had seen. Overall the park is a bit crowded with permanent folks and not the best deal for the price. If in the area again, I don't think we would stay here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very clean and very well groomed park. Three lakes stocked with fish and campers are allowed to catch any amount of fish. A lot of nice size catfish in all the lakes. Fish from your site is very easy. We spent 5 days at this new campground and enjoyed every minute. Close to all attractions in Pensacola. Highly recommend this park to anyone. They offer

Camped right on the water. A little misleading since it's actually NOT on the Gulf of Mexico side, it's on the sound side so although you're right on the water, it's not RIGHT on the beach. Really small park with a dog walking area that's about 10 feet by 8 feet. Literally. And no fence, just a sign and a couple of posts with steel cable around it. I loved the proximity to the actual beach, dining, etc. The only thing that was a hassle was that there was nowhere close by to do grocery shopping of any kind. You will either want to bring a toad, or stop for groceries on the way in. The narrow bridge (super windy) isn't exactly where you want to bicycle or moped into town. Typical touristy restaurants very close by so you get a little bit of live music noise, but with the wind you don't hear it that much. Very relaxing place. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very hard park to rate. The rates are alot higher than other parks in the area and the advertised "beach" area is nothing more than some junky sand leading up to a rock wall on the sound side. This RV park is not on the ocean like you are led to believe it is and there's no way to swim in the water without first going off a short dock. The rock wall makes it impossible to enjoy the water and I was disappointed that to kayak, I had to drag my kayak over to the dock and then do some fancy balancing to get in and out of it from the wood dock. The price is a big one. This place easily charges double for a monthly rate and so much more than that for weekly and nightly rates than other RV parks in the area. When I arrived, I specifically asked if we could get a partial refund if we have to leave early. The nature of our work often only gives us 48 hours to pick up and get to another area. I was assured that the owner would work with us but when the situation arose, I made several phone calls and kept getting the run-around that the manager wasn't in that day to take care of it. Another issue is the extremely loud bands and bars surrounding the park. On one hand its nice that you can walk to restaurants and shops nearby but the amount of noise you deal with several nights a week until the wee hours of the morning make the location a negative one. We paid extra for a waterfront site (thinking that we were on the ocean and had direct access for our kayaks) and we found that the concrete pads were setup for motorhomes and not so much for fifth-wheels and trailers. The small pad poured for where a door on a fifth-wheel or trailer would land was separated by a foot from the main pad the RV is parked on. So I rolled my ankle several times coming out the door and slipping off the parking pad, into the grass between the parking pad and picnic pad. But for the pad that's situated for a motorhome, they put some nice stone blocks in between this gap. Why hasn't that been done here? 2 shower/bathrooms for this park mean that you can never get into one. I tried a few times and they were either both in use, or one was in use and the other was closed for maintenance. I never did get to see if they were clean, etc. Overall, its a pretty park and the proximity to the beach is nice but I wouldn't stay here again. I would rather be down a littler further out at Navarre beach and pay half as much, not have noisy weekends and be able to walk from sand into water. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice facilities, level concrete pads. Wi-Fi did not work well unless you were in the office area. Only two showers for the entire park, people always waiting for an open one. Walk to beaches & restaurants, but the noise from the bands until 2 am (or later) on Thurs-Sat was tough to handle. We stayed a month, wished we hadn't committed to that length before knowing about the loud music. Lots of locals come to camp & party on weekends too. Will try somewhere else next time. This campground is on Pensacola Beach, the inland side, and not on the gulf. It is new and clean. Quiet at waterfront sites. You can walk to the beach, restaurants, etc. Small kids' playground. We did not stay here long (only overnight) but had a good impression from this park. The pull-through sites were long, level, and composed of small compact gravel, and we were able to keep our toad attached. The park was clean and quiet. All hookups (electric and plumbing) worked well. We arrived late but were told what spot to park in (which was clearly marked) and paid over the phone as we drove. The park is located off of I-10 but far enough to be quite. It is a very peaceful park. The sites are wide and long enough for big rigs. The roads and sites are gravel, but dust does not seem to be a problem. At check in the woman gave us all kinds of information on the area, very friendly and helpful. We are out of town but that is a plus to us. The utilities are all good. There are a mix of long term and short term but not a problem at all, nicely kept areas around the rigs. Nice place with gravel sites. The road going in is not paved but only about 100 yards long. It is actually behind a landscape business, but very quiet. There is a small pond on site for fishing. There is a field behind the campground to walk pets. This is the second time we have stayed there, and will stay there again. I can't remember the daily price, but $50 should be close. Easy park to get to, just a mile off I-10. Only stayed overnight. Park is small, but packed gravel roadways are easy to navigate in a large rig. Owner is very friendly. Park seemed to have a few permanent residents, but mostly 25' - 42' size rigs that appeared to be vacationers or just passing through. Pull through sites are gravel and a little close together, but not as close as some of the more expensive parks in Florida. Pull through sites are plenty long enough to handle large rigs. Hook ups were easily accessible and functioned properly. Very quiet park. Also, this park is pet friendly. However, numerous sago palms throughout. Pet owners beware: sago palms are very toxic to dogs. (Male plants produce tiny black seeds that when eaten can cause severe toxicity and liver disease. Recommend you research "sago palms" for how to identify the plant and more information. 3-4 seeds could be fatal to small dogs.) In spite of the plants, we would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We were here two nights while visiting relatives in the city. It's easily accessible to find and nice and quiet. Not all sites have trees, but those that do are under huge shady ones. There's a little nature walk where my husband went with the dog and enjoyed watching the large variety of butterflies. The Wi-Fi is excellent! Overall, staying here has been a good experience. The owner even offered to drive my husband to the car rental place, but arrangement had already been made for Enterprise to pick him up. This is a VERY, VERY NICE RV Park. This was my 4th visit. It is VERY dog friendly with two area to walk the large doggies. I was visiting during the threat of Tropical Storm Debbie. They were always communicating with you to have an action plan and to watch the weather channel for alerts. I had RV problems and they recommended a company to get me back on track in 24 hours. Wonderful location. The owners/managers were installing water sprinklers and were always willing to assist you with anything. You will not be disappointed with this RV park. Easy access off I-10 at Exit 7 (Pine Forest Rd). They have a Plant Nursery next door and I purchased a palm tree to plant in my yard. Again, you will not go wrong by staying at Pensacola RV Park. We were only here for a night and didn't arrive until about 7 p.m. The owner was very nice and helpful. The sites are all gravel and a little rough. The park itself was not great for dog owners. There was not a lot of walking area unless we wanted to walk in the woods and I didn't want to do that after dark. There were dogs running free which always makes me nervous when I am walking my dogs. It was fine for one night, but wouldn't want to stay here for much longer. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This place is certainly adequate for a quiet place to spend a night or three while visiting the area. The good: extremely handy off I-10, quiet, extremely friendly and helpful owner/managers, clean and recently updated restrooms, showers, laundry, strong wi-fi signal, strong water pressure. The less-than-good: sites are gravel with quite large limestone surrounded by grass so not much nice patio area, not much landscaping or shade, and no pool. If you had kids, they will be bored to tears. If you just want a good place to hook up, run by great folks in a clean environment, this is your place. Seafood tip: find your way to Joe Patti's in Pensacola. It is well worth the trip. We go there several times each time we are in the area. Buy your fresh bay shrimp and they will cook, season and ice them down for free, and send you on your way. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a nice, quiet park. We stayed here for two nights while traveling from Florida to Texas. It has easy on/off access from I-10. The interior roads are good. Our site was level and long enough to accommodate our 39' 5th wheel and truck. We did not use any of the bathroom/laundry facilities. Visited the Naval Museum in Pensacola. This is an excellent and quiet RV Park for visiting the Pensacola area. There are some prime appealing sites here and there are some average pull through sites. The level site pads are long with course gravel. The wide enough access roads are composed of rough weathered pavement. The, almost spacious, pull-through sites have a table, hook-ups and grass between the sites. There is an adjacent small lake and plenty of property to walk or go birding. Otherwise there is not much recreational activity here and the unorganized unkept appearing clubhouse is small. The restrooms are located within the clubhouse and are insufficient for the RV Park when nearly full. The Wi-Fi here is top notch. We would return to this RV Park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The BEST RV park in Pensacola! Wonderful owners (and family) who are extremely friendly and helpful. They welcomed us, led us to our site, helped us back in, provided maps, directions, and were always available to call on. This park is good for a couple nights. Easy on/off the interstate. The owner keeps some sites for overnighters. The rest are filled with long term campers. Check in is kind of awkward as you are blocking the main campground road. We had to turn around and come back out to get to our back in site. We had site #51 a PT with W/E/S. Site was plenty big enough for our rig and was mostly level. The pad is gravel and a picnic table is provided as well as cable and Wi-Fi which was very good from our site. They give discounts for Good Sam, military, and law enforcement. The owners are very nice and friendly. We did not feel unsafe like earlier reviewers said. Park is dark at night but we had an end site and there ARE lights at the end of each row. The longer term residents did not look unkempt at all. The park staff will also set you up with firewood at one of the park fire rings they have for the use of guests. We were also invited to use the common room and kitchen when we told them we were in town for a family reunion. Our site did not have shade but many of the outside rows did from mature oak trees. Park is built on part of a family owned nursery which is still being operated by the family. I wish I could have bought some trees but we still have a long trip ahead of us. Park is located near I-10 but we heard no road noise and there are several restaurants and shopping nearby. There are no recreation activities for children here so if you bring them you will need to keep them entertained. Both our cells AT&T and Verizon worked well here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great Place! We made our reservation over the phone without any deposit required. We arrived about 10 minutes after normal closing time. The manager waited for us to arrive, then showed us to our site. The sites are gravel, with grass in between. Very little leveling was required. The water pressure was very good, and the Wi-Fi worked very well. It was a nice campsite, and very convenient to I-10, although we noticed very little highway noise. It is relatively new with very friendly staff and has large sites with water, electric, sewer, cable TV and Wi-Fi. All worked well except the Wi-Fi which faded out occasionally. This park has come a long way in a year. The owners and daughter are the nicest people you will ever meet. There are long pull throughs that are very wide. This is a nice stop over. The sites were fairly clean (cigarette butts) pretty level, water was good and power was good. I didn't see many children (we liked that). The man that checked me in was friendly. I thought the rules were pretty standard but NOT enforced at all. If you have rules and they are not enforced are they rules? The previous posting was obviously written by the owner or a friend of the owner, as I noticed they wrote another after getting a negative review. Most of the RVs are long term or permanent as admitted by an earlier post of being here over 6 months. We were here a week and were woken up every morning by loud pickup trucks starting. Dogs were tied up outside and barked every morning. We noticed the dog waste around the park. Trucks were parked in the grass between sites. Clutter was under almost every full time trailer. As for the darkness, the lights are only around the clubhouse but if you are out in the park it is pitch black and with all the permanent trailer people I didn't go out after dark. On the weekend many of the permanent people had loud obnoxious bikes so it became a biker park. I spoke to MANY other RV owners and everyone had the same comments about this park. Having people write good things does not make the bad go away. The owner should take the negatives, change them and it will be a positive. I hope the owner corrects these issues because this could be a very nice park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I read the preceding review and was amazed at the vehement complaining concerning this campground. We have had nothing but a pleasant experience during our stay and I would say that much of that is due to the fact that there are rules and guidelines in place. I guess the rule holds true that you cannot please everyone. All campgrounds have rules and I can fault no one for not wanting to assume the liability of a person's life during a hurricane. This is probably the same person that would sue if their trailer was damaged during the same hurricane should they be allowed to stay here. Bottom line is that the rules are in place for the protection of the park and it's residents. If you don't like them, then go somewhere else. I for one appreciate them. I feel protected by them. We have been here for over 6 months and I would not want to stay anywhere else. You will find this same sentimentality among other long term and short therm residents. This is our home away from home. Allow me to address the darkness issue. There are security lights located all around the club house that light with little movement. Furthermore, most people appreciate the darkness in order to sleep. I have visited other campground that are equally as dark, if not darker. Personally, I enjoy seeing the stars at night. I also noticed that the individual said there were no shade tree sites. You gotta be kidding me. One of the draws of this locale is the fact that there are sites canopied by oak trees that are over a 100 years old. I'm tellin' ya folks, you will find few places in this world that make you feel like family. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

If it weren't for this park's lengthy and ridiculous RULES sheet you are handed when you check in and its total lack of street lights, it would rate higher. One rule says in capital letters, "NO ELECTRIC HEATERS, PLEASE." Just what is the above-average $35 a day fee supposed to pay for if not utilities? Maid service? Paving? A 30 amp circuit will not run two electric heaters on high, nor could you stand the heat inside if they both ran constantly, but let's say you could do both. At 10 cents/KWH two electric heaters on high ALL NIGHT would cost less than four bucks. So what's the problem? I'm paying them ten times that and I can't use less than four bucks of electricity? Another says, "In the event of a hurricane or other natural disaster directed towards the Pensacola area, all visitors must leave the park... No refunds will be given to any persons due to a natural disasters (sic)." Just exactly why would you refuse someone a refund in those circumstances? There is an extra charge for more than two people. Just what is the extra cost to an RV park of another person? Ten gallons of water? And as usual, no vehicle washing. You pay $35 a day yet can't use more than a KWH or two of electricity and and one tenth the water a normal household uses per day? And what's with no refunds after they throw you out?? This campground has very good free Wi-Fi, picnic tables, level crushed rock sites, and the fellow who checked me in was very nice. But whoever wrote the rules should not be within ten feet of anyone who owns his own business. There are no street lights whatsoever and the place is black-hole dark at night. I'd rather stay in a Wal-Mart parking lot than go back here, given what I'd get for the money. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The Bad: This is a trailer park were over half are workers that don't pickup around their RVs. Dogs are allowed to be put out on ropes and left out all day and bark all day! Be prepared to wake up at 5 am as all the rednecks start their trucks. Dog crap everywhere. This is also a biker park! Trucks parked in the grass, vehicles parked behind RVs in the woods. Trailer trash is alive and well here. Roads are dirt or something like that. I disagree with the previous review on rules. I believe someone told them they had to have rules but they are not enforced. It's pitch black at night and with the trailer trash, you don't get a comfortable feeling. This is a very nice family run park just south of I-10 at Exit 7. Owners who live at park are very pleasant and helpful. It is a newer park with level chat gravel sites. Also, the shower and bathroom facilities are new and were kept very clean. One of the better parks in Pensacola. Park is on the new side. Roads and sites are all gravel. Sites are long at 50 feet or so and very wide plus close to level. Site had 30/50 amps, water, sewer, cable TV, and table. Large number of pull-thru. No fire rings or fires here, a good thing to me. Only hard sides RV units here, no showers or bathrooms. Wi-Fi is free and works very well on your site. Verizon cell phone worked well. Sat. dish's will work on most sites. We could pick up some road noise off I-10 and Wilde Lake Blvd. but inside it was not a problem. From the traffic light at Wilde Lake drive West 7/8 of a mile and park is on left. The Navel Museum is 18.6 miles from park. You have two large new super markets to shop in and they are close by. A plus was he told us about how the Blue Angles would be practicing at the Pensacola Naval Air Station the next day (approx. a 15 mile drive). Apparently they have practice at least 2 days a week. We went & it is a great show, all free, you are seated very close to the show, and volunteers let you know which way the jets will be coming from. The Navel Aviation Museum is also there for viewing. We would stay at this park again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice, quiet and friendly campground. We are fulltime and this was as nice a campground as we have visited. We felt very safe at this campground. We visited some of the others in the area while we were there...this is by far the one we will visit again. Nice pull through sites. Well designed and maintained park. Cost is high (we felt) even with a weekly rate so you will just have to evaluate whether the advantages balance out the higher cost. Park is convenient to interstate and once you know where it is it's easy to get into and out of from the Interstate and other highways. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We travel & live in fifth wheel for work, have spent time in other parks including KOAs, however this park surpasses all other campground experiences! It is peaceful & serene, very clean, the facilities are spotless, it is attractively landscaped and maintained and very conveniently located near I-10 making it easy to get to. This park is run by the most accommodating, generous people that we've had the pleasure of knowing!! The atmosphere of the campground and its temporary residents - whether overnighters or longterm (like ourselves) - is friendly, helpful and 'family like'. The camaraderie is instantly felt once one pulls into their site - the owners take special care to make sure every rig is parked securely and all hookups are functioning, as well as making sure their new 'tenants' are comfortable and familiar with their surroundings. Thank you Wendell, Lane, Jeanine and Doug for all that you do!! We appreciate you and dread the thought of leaving!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We spent our first month of being full-timers at the Park. The owners are working onsite all the time it seems. There is no doubt they really enjoy themselves and the park, and they serve up a delicious fish fry! It is a friendly place to be new to Rving. It is clean and tidy, easily accessed, quiet and well monitored. There is a nice mix of long-term and just-passing-thru occupants. Hands down, it is the nicest park in that part of Pensacola and only a short ride to the beautiful beaches. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

From the moment we arrived, the owners and attendants were courteous and accommodating. The grounds and facilities are clean and well kept. The owners take pride in their new park and will address disturbances quickly. During the last two weeks of March, 2009, we didn't see any loud vehicles or free ranging dogs. While touring Greater Pensacola, we made a point to cruise through other parks. This one seemed to be best value, without question. We will stay here whenever we are in Pensacola, and will suggest the same to friends. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice new campground. The owners are very kind and very helpful. This is the nicest campground around Pensacola. Very quiet. Big rig friendly and easy access to I-10. Sites were level and wide. Rate is a monthly rate. We will come back anytime we are in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Pensacola RV Park is a spacious, attractive, high end park nestled amongst large oaks and with beautiful landscaping. We have seen many RVs come and go with many expressing a sadness upon departure. The solitude and sounds of wildlife are relaxing. We have found a camaraderie here that we have not found at other cookie cutter campgrounds. We are proud to call this home. The first post concerning Pensacola RV Park should be taken with a grain of salt. We have been camping here for over a month and find Pensacola RV Park to be a wonderful refuge managed by individuals that care not only about the park but also about the folks camping in the park. Pensacola RV Park should not be penalized because there are rude people out there that do not tend to their pets. The owners are aware of pet issues and are pro active in addressing this issue. Overall, Pensacola RV Park is a great place to stay with new, well maintained facilities, spacious sites to accommodate the largest of motorhomes and a management staff that is attentive. I seriously doubt that you will find a better maintained campground or better owners. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for a couple of days. Park just opened in Nov 08. Owners are very nice and helpful. Park is very clean except for a few long term 5th wheelers. On one side of me they let there dog out without a leash and it went the bathroom by my coach everyday. It was absolutely disgusting. The other side had 3 motorcycles that came and went at all hours. I saw dogs running loose all the time in the park. This park will go down hill very quickly if dog rules are not enforced. Rating is based on dog problem. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a new RV park, family owned. It is just off of Interstate 10, about one mile. It is easy to get into and the spots are spacious. They are pet friendly. The rates are reasonable and they also have monthly rates. There is no pool but they have a kitchen area that is available to their guests. The owners live on site so there is always someone in management there. They also have a clean laundry area and showers. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Bathrooms are not cleaned everyday. Wireless internet is down more than up and working. Many RV's are out of range of wireless network. Our RV was tampered with at this park, the battery cables had been reversed and someone opened the fridge area and unplugged our Fridge from the outside of the RV. We called the owner and he showed concern but not much that could be done. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
