Privately owned, close to nature, far from town, no amenities like LP(that stopped in 06 and trucks not allowed in except for park models)...they okay pets, but keep changing minds about how many (only two allowed maybe, maybe not depends on owner's mood)...they keep waffling about everything, sheds, hookups, lots, you name it...electric on, off, in summer mostly off...no concrete pads to speak of so it floods a lot, mega-flooding. No wifi, store at front has 2-year-old cans of soup...just not my idea of customer care. Prices up, amenities down. Sad. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice campground not too crowded during the winter rush. We were able to get last-minute reservations despite the late-February booking. The front half of the park appears to be permanent snow-birds; the back half for nightly and weekly travelers. The sites are very large, all grass with significant distance between neighboring sites. TV, even without cable, and cell reception were both excellent. There are lots of birds and plenty of opportunities to be up-close. It's close to Tampa (~30 minutes w/o traffic) and close to freeways but not so close that there's any noise. The only complaint was that access to the dumpsters was inconvenient. I would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

No concrete pads. Pray for no rain, as this park floods bad! Too many dirty trees. Very old time camping experience. Too far from shopping, doctors, etc. - in the middle of nowhere. Surrounding area seedy. Old park, mostly old park models which have not been kept up. Nice pool. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is an older one, but staff and fellow campers were very helpful and nice. Dog friendly. Park is nice and quiet, site was fairly level, and wide enough for our slide and awning. We didn't participate in park activities, park is deceivingly big. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was our second park in Tampa, Fl. This park is quite old but everyone here are friendly. We were made to feel very welcomed. Lots of large trees, lots of dirt on sites. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We've used this campground on and off for the past 10 years and it is extremely disappointing to see that repairs to the bathrooms have been neglected. Why? The Rec Hall has severe water damage but nothing has been done to correct the problem. Why? while the park caters to seasonals, there were a number of empty sites. Price reflects Good Sam discount and $3 a night charge for cable TV. I think it's time for us to look for another campground in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice place to stay for a few days of hiking, canoeing and just to relax. Some sites are not level and in the area of site 12 is a very narrow turn with a tree. The tree has the scars to prove its done battle with many a travel trailer and motorhome. We were in site 12 and because of the turn and tree, it was difficult to get the trailer into the site. The web site says its 35 foot deep: good luck getting something that long into the spot. We had a 30 foot unit and its was tons of fun to get it backed into the site. Staff was very nice and friendly. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great park like so many Florida state parks. Wonderful in the winter to camp. Lots of hiking trails along the river. The river is a good place to canoe . You can rent canoes, bikes and golf carts at the park store. Most all the sites are shaded and can be difficult to get satellite but I managed. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very welcoming staff on check in as was before on our first visit. Park was very full during the week due to the RV Supershow going on in Tampa, so need to make reservations very early to stay at this time. The weekends are always full to the max. WI-FI now available at the cafe that has been re-done. Though I do miss the old camp store/cafe with the eclectic gift store and grill tables. It is now more like a big empty room with tables and chairs and no character. All you can eat fish and chips on Friday at 8.50 a person includes fruit cocktail, and sodas. Though the fish was just "square fishsticks" and nothing special, was still nice to just walk to lunch that day. Pool was once again closed (as usual) but we don't use anyway. Wish this park would follow the example of many others, and put crushed lime stone in the sites. They are all dirt surfaces and can get very muddy and messy when it rains. Beware of some sites that flood. Lots of shade trees here, which is nice in summer time, and the river is great for canoeing. One really bad thing about this larger state park is the one single dump station, which is needed by all due to no sewer hookups. On Friday morning there were a bunch of angry campers lined up all down the road to use it. On Saturday when we left, there was no line....since the dump station was overflowing with sewer back up and could not be used. We camped here in a Motorhome.

When we arrived and checked in, they had an usher lead us to our camp site. Once I was backed in they even provided blocking and leveling of our travel trailer. If we needed any wheel blocks they would have provided them also. The RV park was wonderful. Shady, very quite and very clean. We have raised three children, and we now have a grandchild, but we didn't see or hear any children during the four days my wife and I were there. Most of the folks are there from December through April, have been staying there for several years, and even have their same slots they have always had. Then go back up North to their homes for the summer. We plan on making Southern Aire RV Park, one of annual stops also. Great place. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Easily the worst experience we have ever had at an RV Park. Made reservations in advance and on day of our arrival they called us at 3pm (we were set to arrive about 6) and said we had 1 hour to get there or they would not park us... no kidding. They eventually conceded and let us "hook up" in their parking lot over night and then guided us in the next morning. When we awoke the main water main had been shutoff for repairs. Water was off all day and then when it came back on we were notified that it was probably contaminated with bacteria and we should boil it before using for 3-4 days. Contacted the office and explained the implications of pumping bad water through our fresh water system and asked if they would compensate us to disinfect the system; As you can guess they had no idea what we were referring to. Anyways we demanded a refund and got the heck out of there the next morning. Every "pro" on their website is false. The roads are not wide and are crumbling, spots are all back-ins, and there are low hanging trees. Mostly a bunch of grumpy seniors running around in golf carts. Enter at your own risk. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for two months. The daily rate is reflective of a $299/mo special rate. The park is well maintained, bathrooms, showers and laundry are very clean and cleaned daily. It is a mixture of permanents in RVs, park models and manufactured homes and seasonals. Sites are basically sand, some with concrete patios and picnic tables. There are lots of trees, roads are narrow so big rigs will find it hard to maneuver but they did have an area of pull throughs that accommodated some of the bigger rigs. It is listed as a resort but I wouldn't call it that. It is a nice RV park but doesn't have the amenities of a resort. They have a Rec.Hall but not many activities are scheduled. They have bingo and cards with crafts one day a week. They had horseshoes and shuffleboard teams. They had no potlucks or shows while we were there. They did have a park wide garage sale and an ice cream social. The calendar looked more full with activities for March however. Cable TV is available through the local cable company with monthly rental. The park is very close to Tampa and so many great things to do. Even though the park isn't the newest or doesn't offer the activities of other parks we would still return to stay because of the reasonable cost and area activities. We camped here in a Motorhome.

After staying at another Carefree Resort, we were very disappointed by this park. Calling it a resort is a bit of a stretch. We had made a reservation, and I stated that we have a 39’ 5th wheel. At check-in we were assigned to a site that was too small for our rig, and the road split around a couple trees that prevented us from even attempting to maneuver into the site. When I went to request another site, the desk staff acted like I had not let them know the size of our rig, and I could see the list of arrivals on the desk with our rig size on it. When we made the reservation, a credit card was required to hold a site. At check-in we were not credited for the deposit which required a phone call to get a refund. Overall the office doesn’t seem to know what size sites are available or what size they are. If we had stayed at this Carefree resort first, we would not have stayed at another. We will not stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Good, if older, park just east of Tampa. Tight, but doable roads. We've stayed here twice now and it has been good both times. Great and helpful staff and friendly permanents. We camped here in a Motorhome.
