This park advertises for big rigs and it can take them but it's a tight fit. The campground itself has mostly permanent residents that do not seem to care how their sites look. A lot of junk and rusting 'stuff' laying around. They advertise some sites are 'cable ready' but you have to pay to have the cable hook-up with the local company. The site I was on was dirt that looked like monster moles was running through it. I would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here when attending the Penn State - Purdue football game (go Lions) ... it had rained pretty well the day before and the standing water was to bad we could not find out sewer hookups and were moved to another site. It was NOT an easy place to find and is basically way off the main road and in a sub-division type setting or at least a neighborhood with houses all around the property. I think this CG served the purpose we had in mind and that was a place to park and attend the game without parking in the public parking lot as a visiting team and dry camping. I think that most of their business is parents visiting their kids going to school there or visiting teams attending a Purdue game. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Terrible campground! One of the worst we've stayed at! On the phone, the management was friendly, but not in person. The name of the campground IS AOK, it was formerly a KOA, but my guess is that KOA wouldn't renew their franchise. I saw this
place listed in a review directory, and AOK must have paid pretty for the glowing review. The restrooms were flithy and the water stians were everywhere, including the pool. The water smells heavy of sulfer that my water filter couldn't completely remove. We took the risk and swam in the pool, even tho it was very cloudy (hot, humid weekend). There were plenty of empty sites available on Labor day weekend (which I should have heeded the warning sign). The grass wasn't cut and there were serious divets that we found the hard way. The pricing was moderate, but over-priced for what we got. The driving directions on their web site and in the directory were missing vital pieces and we almost didn't find the place (now I wish we hadn't). I think we would have gotten a better deal if we'd stayed in a Walmart parking lot. We met family there (from another state) and we had great family fun inspite of this horrible campground! We camped here in a Truck Camper.
This is truly a campground, not a RV Park or Resort. True, they have gravel roads and some tighter turns but we saw noticable widening improvements for the larger units. Many sites had trees and the branches were cut back to allow parking without much trouble. They had a few pull through sites that would accomodate larger units. (I'd suggest calling ahead if you are in a Big Rig) We didn't notice a lot of overnight "One Night" campers, maybe one or two. More in for the weekend or longer. They offered us a full hook-up site (our choice of 30 or 50amp) for the same costs. It appears they have a mixure of campers, from overnight/weekend campers to seasonal and monthly camp sites (which were all full). The restrooms were clean during our visit and they were upgrading some campsites and doing some power line upgrades during our stay. They had minimal personal experience/informaion on local attractions but had brochures & maps that gave us the resources we were looking for. We walked down to the Wabash River and saw there were mostly tent sites due to lower terrain. The owners said they allowed Pop-ups and tents in the lower section but did not allow generators to be run. campers wanting power were suggested to rent a site offering electric as "tenters" didn't want to listen to generators while camping. Overall we enjoyed our stay and they seemed to have a lot going on but still had time to talk to us and answer our questions. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here while attending the Feast of the Hunters Moon. The roads were gravel and narrow. We had a pull thru site with a picnic table and fire pit. The grass was not mowed and the sites were extremely close. If we had put our awning out, it would have been covering the deck of the seasonal beside us! There were many seasonals in the park and some of their sites were not well kept. We met family here and just stayed the weekend. It is accessible to big rigs, but the turns are tight. Probably wouldn't stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We camped in a 38ft motorhome and had a very difficult time backing into the site. Very tight turns if you have a large rig. Office staff was friendly but not too helpful with local information. This is an old campground that would be better served if the property was turned into condos or apartments. Interior road is gravel and not in good shape. Will not stay at this location again when we visit Purdue University. We camped here in a Motorhome.
