This is a municipal park. It has a new shower building. It also has what appears to be new playground equipment for young children. There are 2 sections for camping: the main and the "back 40". The main section has the older big trees and the "back 40" has younger trees. We were here on a Sunday night, and we were the only ones here. The site layout has the sites next to each other with two sites sharing a water spigot. Most of the sites are grass, but a few are gravel. The area outside the campground (the north end) used to be an old gravel pit (according to the sign) and there are many ponds and streams. There is a stream crossing if you dare to take your vehicle across. We were here after some major storms, and the stream was running pretty quickly and was high. You can also primitive camp in the north end along the ponds and streams. Overall this is a very pretty city park with lots of grass and just enough trees to provide shade. There is a paved path that runs to town (about 1/2 mile). The town of Ackley has an old fashioned soda fountain which was unfortunately closed when we were here. We enjoyed our stay here and would come back for an overnight. I suspect on the weekends they are quite full. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

City park within walking distance to town on paved path. Shaded, grassy sites which were not level. We were there during a wet period and many sites could not be used due to soft ground. Playground, trails, streams and ponds. Two different camping areas - one area filled with a group but the other section was not filled and quiet. Self-pay station but a host on site. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
