Campground is on the upper lake and the water is murky green which I assume is polluted, as swimming is not allowed. You have to walk about a mile to the lower lake for a swimming area, where the water is brownish red. Sites are compacted dirt and gravel, uneven and cramped. Shower had webs, spiders and dead insects near shower head. Campground host only available Friday through Sunday. There are nice bicycle paths with lots of trees and birds. Would never stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Iowa State Park run by county. Was not kept up. Most sites were reservation only sites. Host said we could park anywhere since he had no reservations. Area was hit with bad hail storm so trees were mostly bare. Park had old dark ugly feel to it. Water is available to fill tank. Dump station was easy to get to. Watch out for mice!!! We spent 1 night and got 7 mice! Probably wouldn't stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is not a place for children! People come here to basically party and go tubing! It is a blast! This year they have several new facilities including a covered pavilion and live music. The shower was very cold, but it didn't matter much to us as we had been on the river drinking beer all day and just wanted to get cleaned up. You don't come here for the great sites and restrooms, you come here for the fun! The owner and all the staff were helpful and friendly. The major negative that we had was the owner's wife! She was extremely rude and unfriendly, which seemed to be the consensus of everyone that we talked to. NASTY! Otherwise a great time was had by all. We camped here in a Tent.
