This is a good value state park that could get a higher rating with some modernizing. All roads are paved and in great shape. Most of the back in gravel sites are level and long enough to handle big rig vehicles. Each site has a table. Sites are wide enough for any number of slides. The trees in the park are very well trimmed. Most sites are satellite friendly. Only one loop has water, and it is community outlets. Modernizing would include putting water at the sites and adding some 50 amp power. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We had site #2 which was 30 amp electric (no water) level gravel with a nice view of the river in the distance, no neighbor on one side and quite a lot of space on the other; it rained a lot while we were there but the site drained well. There were trees around that gave some high shade but no privacy however sites were angled in such a way that you don't really have to look directly at your neighbors. We thought the best electric sites for some privacy were #43 and #9. There is another area with grass sites (some with and some without electric). The DeSoto Natl Wildlife Refuge is just outside the park and is a terrific place to visit. It has several easy trails that each take you through a different environment. Full but quiet the weekend after Labor Day. We camped here in a Motorhome.

For a state park this is a good one. Trees were well trimmed. Campground was clean and quiet. Sites were large & gravel and had no problem leveling. Each site had its own table & fire pit. Plenty of room for any number slideouts. About half of sites have view of Missouri River. We were there on a Sunday & had plenty of extra sites-but they had been full from Friday & Saturday. We camped here in a Motorhome.
