After what we had been staying in, this park was like the Hilton. Granted, it doesn't have any amenities, but it's nice. The camp hosts were most helpful. We were working in the area and it appeared that several of the other RV'ers were doing the same. It felt safe and secure and we had no qualms about being gone from the RV. The sites are set on grass and it rained a lot, but we didn't have any problems. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I stayed here because there were no other parks available nearer to where I was working. The park sits approximately one mile south of the city of Argonia and is situated next to the Chikaskia River. There is a short walkway (maybe 200 yards total) that runs along the riverside and goes along the main road through town. Fishing is allowed in the river with a proper Kansas fishing license. Be aware that there is a gun club on Tuesday nights that meets next to the park and has some sort of target practice. The shaded sites are primarily along the lower section of the park next to the river. Other than the men and women's restrooms (that contain one toilet and one shower) and the picnic pavilions, there are no amenities here. This RV park is pretty "bare bones" other than the fact that it has pull-through spots and full hook-ups. The 10 pull-though spots sit on grass (although the ground appears to be pretty solid). In its favor, however, is the fact that it is well-maintained in terms of appearance. The grass is kept mowed and the local police patrol the area regularly. There is a little old lady who lives on site. Its main drawback is that the amenities are sparse. However, the price isn't bad. A site with full hookups is $15, while one with only electric and water is $10 and tenting is only $5. There is a dump station available by the bathroom facility. The main problem with the bathrooms is all the critters. The toilet and shower itself appear clean, but the area surrounding them would benefit from a pest control service. We camped here in a Motorhome.
