We camped here in May 2007. It had everything the website promised - water slide, man-made beach, putt-putt, 18-hole golf course right next door, etc. The problem was that most everything was a little run down - including the clientele (shirtless rednecks). Apparently, the campground went bankrupt, and just recently changed owners. We met the new owner (very nice) and he is very intent on fixing everything up - but he has his work cut out for him. We were in the nicest-looking section (#500's) - the other parts of the campground couldn't quite shake the "farm" feel to it. The downside to the #500's was how far it was to the bathhouse. Overall, lots of potential. I hope the new ownership invests some money into fixing it up a little. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Our first experience at this CG was in 2001 Labor Day and it was absolutely packed. The tent sites surround the bathhouse and it looked like a refugee camp. The baths were filthy. I vowed never to return. However, we came back on Labor day 2002 and it was under new management. They have made a lot of improvements. If you have a TT you want to stay on the 2 lane road leading into the CG. There is a small lake and the owner has taken some old playground equipment and put it in the lake to jump and slide off of. The kids will love it. Do not ride the rides, though. Some I remember from the 1968 state fair. Staff is good, coming around to see if you need ice or firewood. This CG is off the beaten path so it is a little hard to find. Call ahead 270-657-2111 and see if they are having any rallies, etc. before you make your reservations. They have at least one Harley rally per year and that would be a scary thing in this CG. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Small campground right by the lake. Sits on top of the ridge by the lake and there are woods between the campground and lake. So you cannot see the lake from the campground. Short drive down to beach area for swimming and the lake is great for fishing. Campground is clean, including the bathhouse. Nice playground. Washing machine and dryer available at the bathhouse. Out in the middle of nowhere, so make sure you bring everything you need. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
