Beautiful park very well maintained and kept-up. The positioning and spacing of the campsites were done quite well. We loved the 40 by 20 wooden patios that almost all the campsites have. Wonderful hiking, biking, and horse trails. The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Happy to recommend Lake Bistineau State Park, this is one of those that is towards the top of any list. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
75 ft wide, asphalt sites, newer asphalt roads, fire ring and fire pit, nice laundry. 75% of sites have new, womanized wood decks. Several handicap access sites. They have canoe, row boat and bike rentals. There are several fishing docks close to campsites and a boat launch area. Also, horse trails, group camp, nature center and pavilion for rent. Maintenance seems to be good. Gate is locked at night. Nearest grocery store is 17 miles away. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Roads and sites are very tight for big rigs. Our 38' barely fit. All sites are now being upgraded to 50 amps - that's a plus. But the hook ups are all on the patio side, so you need long hoses for water and a long electric cord. They are improving, but they have work to do. The dump station overflowed when I was trying to dump my black tank - not a pleasant experience. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park is beautiful, but campground not well maintained. Sites well separated but due to parking of vehicles and boat trailers between sites, it was very crowded. Although signs posted no parking off asphault, vehicles were everywhere. Campground looked like a Wal Mart parking lot. The pull thru sites were closer to an U turn that a parking site. Very difficult to get into and out. Many pets allowed to roam without leashes. Campground staff not very active or helpful. Probably will not return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Wonderful State Park. The setting, especially to us Northwesterners is almost priordial; Spanish Moss hanging from the trees, dense green foliage, and the sounds coming from the birds and other critters are wonderful. Park has 67 paved and level sites with water and electric hook-ups; a dump station is available. Most sites are back in but there are a few pull throughs that could accomodate 40'+ rigs. Ammenities include a playground, swim pool, laundry facilities, an abundance of hiking trails and fishing/boating, including boat rentals. We camped here in a camper.
