This is a very difficult campground to rate. It is right on the ocean. If you are lucky enough to get one of the 4 or 5 waterfront sights, the view is great. We were here preseason so, we got lucky. It is inexpensive for here, as $32 per night is extremely cheap. The owner/manager is very nice. She even accepts out-of-state checks. (No credit cards accepted). It is hard to rate how it would be in busy season, but I suspect it is very peaceful. This is a great area to spend time, with Rockline very near with all of the restaurants and services on top of the many beaches and lighthouses to explore. Now the somewhat negatives. The campground if very funky. It seems to have been laid-out by someone that has had one too many drinks. There are various power poles and water outlets around. The sites are marked, but pretty haphazard. We were there when it had been raining a lot, so it was pretty sloppy. There are no sewer hookups. There are 20 and 30 amp (no 50 amps.) We had 30 amp, but not really. We have a safety device to cut power if the voltage drops too much. We had to be very careful not to use too much are the voltage would go very low,so don't expect to use AC or electric heaters or water heaters. (AC's and electric heater are banned by the park rules anyway.) Oh yes, it is a very quiet and dark park, which we like. A few streetlights around, but not too bright. If you are looking for a "resort" stay far away. If you like views and quite for a few days, give it a try. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Ten rating is due to being right on the ocean with easy access. This is paradise for sea
kayakers and for small sailboaters. It is very difficult to even get reservations due to the high volume of repeat customers. For 2003 they were going to go to weekly stays during peak season. No website but mailing address is P.O. Box 625 S. Thomaston, Maine 04858. 400' of Maine oceanfront with a great sandy beach.
Strict campground with enforced rules. Very friendly campers. Home baked pies and ice cream socials every evening at 7PM. DELICIOUS!! Nestled between Camden and Boothbay Harbor offers an easy exploring location We camped here in a Motorhome.
