Clean park mostly seasonal campers and park models. Play ground is dated. Internet worked on and off ( the office said they had been having problems with WiFi.) You can ride your bikes from campground to local restaurants, ice cream shops, go cart track, etc. They have a bike path on the side of the road going into town. Showers require you to hold a handle down to get water, kind of a pain when your trying to shower. Silver Lake is a nice area. There were only 25-30 sites for non seasonal campers in the park and they are up front. Seasonal campers are nicely kept, no junk which was nice. I would stay again as it's a nice location close to town. (Not very big town at all.) We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We have stayed at Sandy Shores for the past three years for our week vacation in July. The sites are rather large and offer much shade. Most sites are grassy and very clean: the grounds keepers clean and rake each site upon each change-over. Sandy Shores also owns a private beach on Silver Lake. Although the campground is not located directly on the lake, it is just a short walk away. Also, weekly boat slips are available at their private beach which is very useful if you bring a boat like we do. While the campground does not have a camp store, there is a very well outfitted private store with groceries, ice, firewood, and RV supplies located at the entrance to the campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed here over the Holiday for a week. This is just one of those parks that wow you. They have beach front access and beautiful grass lots. The owners have been in this business a long time, and you can tell from the way they run the park. A very nice family park located centrally in Silver Lake. You don't have to walk far to get anywhere. I highly recommend it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground has many full time campers but the campground was beautiful with very large, grassy, part shade, part sun, lots. It was quiet and they strictly enforced quiet times. I would return. They also have a beautiful sandy beach access to Silver Lake located just across the road. The heated pool was very nice. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Beautiful well maintained park. Paved streets and paved level lots. Fair Wi-Fi. They have a long list of rules that are not all enforced ie: no flags, no signs, nothing driven into the ground. We stayed 5 days and would return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A very nice campground. We were in the first pull through row on a corner and the traffic was very heavy. If I was to go back I would request a site in the second row, center. They only offer pull through sites in the first two rows. There are a lot of seasonal campers but it's one of the nicest parks I've been to with this many seasonal campers. Lots of traffic in and out especially on the weekend when all the dune buggies are there. It was better after dark. Our rate was based on a weekly rate. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a return visit to a park we stayed at last year. Just about everything in that review of July 2011 stands. I do want to reiterate that there are many seasonal/extended stay customers. My biggest complaint is that I, once again, was unable to connect to the Tengo Wi-Fi. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park was wonderful, the staff was very helpful and friendly. (Other than the electrician.) They have a very large pool and hot tub to accommodate all. They are set up very well for children, no one should have a problem at this park. We met several friendly people. The dunes, beaches and attractions are also great. It's a must visit place! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park was clean. Lots of travel trailers and sand dune vehicles (very close to Silver Lake sand dunes). Sites are close together and back up to one another, so you get lots of people near your "backyard". Hence, not too much privacy. Also, our cable hookup was not good -- lots of snowy reception -- asked for it to be checked out -- not sure if it ever happened. Never got a response that they looked at it. Probably will not return to this one. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is our first visit to this park since 2003. The park has doubled in sized since then. The newer areas seem to be mostly seasonals and some have trees and shade. The older section is still mostly in the open. We had a FHU pull-through near the office for one night. The cable TV was about 50 channels, and most sites in the old section are satellite friendly. Their WI-FI is Tengo but free. For some reason I could not connect, and the staff had no idea what the problem was. (I had the same problem a week later at another park but the staff there was able to solve the problem since they have run into it before - Silver Creek should have been able to do the same). As noted by other reviewers, the facilities and amenities here are very good. A 10-15 minute walk has you at the shores of Silver Lake and some of its eateries, shops, and amusements. I would stay here again for several days if I knew the WI-FI would work for me. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I was surprised seeing a poor review of this campground. We found it to be excellent. Clean, friendly and close to lots of activities. The sites are very large, level and well-spaced, paved with large grassy areas with a fire ring. Immaculate. Bathrooms were great,; dog area was convenient and clean. The dunes are close by, along with Silver Lake, Lake Michigan and lighthouses. Sun, sand and water, couldn't ask for more. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The campground is extremely well maintained, and very clean. Insecticides are used and the bug population is minimal. The dog walk needs to be cleaned better as many guests do not pick up after themselves. There are many rules, such as not walking through others sites, nobody under 14 in the hot tub, no running around the pool or causing disturbances to others with jumping and horseplay. None of these rules are actively enforced, so if others routinely walking through your site bothers you, be forewarned. There is an extreme sense of snobbery amongst the staff and the campers. This is somewhat understandable as that is how people can be when at a higher end resort. The Wi-Fi service employs 4 servers, and sometimes works well, other times not at all. This was a huge source of irritation for my wife. AT&T cell service was generally good. The pool is very clean and well maintained. At one point, somebody had defecated in the pool, it was pointed out to the management and addressed immediately. That was pretty weird though. Unless you are into off-roading at the dunes, there really isn't much to do in the area for adults. All in all, my wife and I would not return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an excellent park that is nicely maintained with paved roads and large paved sites. The sites are angled so that they are not close together. The showers are some of the best we have found. There are other parks in the area with a similar name so be sure to pick this one, as it is the best. We have no complaints about it at all and would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Campground is immaculate, well laid out and very well managed. Seems to be a shortage of restrooms and showers but we never found a waiting line. Newspapers aplenty and rules enforced. If I were to mark them down for anything, it would be the LACK of friendliness of the front desk staff. Too young to care, too bored to be friendly. Lots of seasonal campers but they are well taken care of and they seem to care about the park. Plenty to do in the area if you are into hotrods, dune buggys, etc. An abundance of vehicles for riding the dunes, otherwise not much going on. Definitely a campground worthy of returning to. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a fabulous park in every sense. Well maintained, well appointed, and friendly staff too. The spaces are large, the pads are cement and the roads paved. A large clean pool and spa tops it off. I will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park is immaculate! Well landscaped, big concrete pads, very nice pool and big jacuzzi. Park looks better that its brochure! Wi-Fi is good. Lots of attractions around the area. Big rigs have lots of room. Will definitely come back! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a great premium resort, beautiful lush grass and cement pads. The area has a lot to offer. Staff was friendly, and the resort is kept very clean and well tended to. We stayed off season so the price is low. Would go again. It's close to the beach and town center. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The $60 dollar fee was for the Memorial Day weekend, otherwise it is a steal at $25 per day. The sites are very large with lots of room between rigs and it's well kept up. I gave this an 8 because (1) the woman who checked us in was very grumpy, I just can't figure out why these people want to work with the public and not at least offer a smile. Get some new people at the desk: the kids on the weekend were great. The bike trail going to town is great, and it's only 1 mile. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We’ve been on the road going cross country for sixteen weeks and believe this is the best campground thus far. It’s beautiful and immaculate. Roads are paved; every site has a double-wide concrete pad and close to 50 feet between sites. The grass between sites is watered daily via underground sprinklers. It’s a 5 minute ride to the Silver Lake Dunes. Cable TV and Wi-Fi worked well. We highly recommend this campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was probably by far one of the nicest campgrounds we've ever been in! Lush green grass. Huge level concrete sites! Very accommodating! Very friendly staff as well! Nice size pool. Seemed to be geared for the family as well as couples, too. Most camp here to do the dunes with their buggies, but it's not noisy. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Silver Creek RV Resort came recommend to me and my family several years ago. When we travel from East Lansing to play on the Silver Lake Sand Dunes this is the only RV park we will stay at while there. I have traveled all over the eastern part of the United States and this is by far one of the nicest parks we have ever stayed at. We find our self comparing other sites to Silver Creek and not even come close. It has HUGE double wide concrete pads that we have had up to 4 vehicles on and that was between the RV and the road with still room for the RV and awning. Large, open, grassy sites that are far from your neighbor next door. Very easy to navigate throughout the park with your big rig. I tow my off road jeep behind my 5th wheel RV and have no trouble driving to the site with my 65 foot train. The pool is very large and there is a hot tub that is large too. One cool thing about the pool area is from 10pm until 11pm is adults only. It’s a nice way to complete a day on the dunes and beach at Lake Michigan. The bathrooms are cleaned many times throughout the day and look fresh every time I’ve ever gone in. The main office and camp store has just about everything you need for an awesome stay. Downtown Silver Lake is only a mile away and there are lots of GREAT restaurants minutes away. The staff is amazing!!! They will do almost anything to make your stay enjoyable. We camp here about 5 times each summer and stay from 4 to 6 days each time. All sites are full hook up and all sites have wireless wifi as well as cable TV, and garbage is picked up at your site a few times each day. If needed, they also refill propane. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is the second time we have camped here. This campground is very close to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes and Lake Michigan. It is one the nicest and cleanest places we have camped in nearly 20 years of camping! All roads are paved, the concrete pad is huge and surrounded by thick, lush green grass. The showers are "just like home" and the staff is very helpful and friendly. It would be nice to have more trees, but since this campground is new, most of the trees are still young. I wish all campgrounds were like this one! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Come on folks lets not go overboard here. Yes they have paved roads and large paved sites. You can enjoy about 60 TV channels. They water the grass every evening which also waters your RV. But the WiFi doesn't work. They are aware of the problem and have had this problem on and off all summer. They don't tell you that when you make your reservation. This really isn't a park for children. They have one small area for them to play in. No large shade trees. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This was a great facility, very clean and well managed. Bath and shower facilities were state of the art. Trash pickup was done promptly in the morning. No kids in the pool after 10PM and they are asked to leave right at 10PM. Adults were asked to leave promptly at 11PM. No camp fires after 1:00AM and they checked! 8x8 tent's are allowed on the pad with your RV. The main office had plenty of supplies including propane at competitive prices. Be careful where you leave chairs or bikes as the lawns are watered by sprinklers. Sewer, water, and power connections were all top notch. This is a extremely well managed facility, we will return again next year. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
A very fine campground. Full service top notch facility. Wide cement pads with patios. Spotless bathroom/showers. Giant pool/hot tub. Top notch hookup pedestals. Our only problem was that we wish we would have stayed here longer. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very clean and quiet park. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Not many mature trees so if you're looking for a wooded site with shade, this is not the park for you. Very close to town and area attractions. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The facilities here are excellent; I think these are the best facilities of any RV park we have ever stayed at. The showers were very nice (ceramic tile), hot, and clean. The pool is very nice and clean and the large hot tub is a nice treat for a campground. We were near the front and the grass was very nice and the cement pad was very nice; it feels like the park was built within the last couple of years. If you can, try to stay in the back where there are more shade trees. The only reason I did not give it a 10 is that there are not more kids activities or play areas. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
One of the cleanest parks we have ever stayed in. Large, grassy sites, very clean bathrooms and showers, large heated pool and hot tub, cable tv. The sites are paved and level. Small playground and nice gift shop. Roads are all paved. Only thing lacking is a place for the kids to play catch or lawn games and they do not offer any planned activities. Otherwise it would have been a 10 !! We will definitely stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
My family had a wonderful time staying at this park. The area offers plenty of things to do for all ages and the weather was great for our vacation. Although the park was busy , we found it very enjoyable to walk and bike the area. The park was clean and well taken care of. I would rate this park as excellent. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Stayed here with four kids and we all loved it. It is very close to the dunes and Lake Michigan beaches. We would go four wheeling and swimming in Lake Michigan all day and then go back to the campground and relax in the giant hot tub and have a campfire. Very clean and family friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice RV Park with wide, paved streets, and very wide and long concrete sites and patios. Not at all crowded here and very easy ingress and egress for big rigs. Good park for a stopover or for a longer stay. Would highly recommend it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very quiet, well kept, and clean park. All sites have cement pads, tables, and fire pits. Shower houses were immaculate. Park provides large grassy area to walk dogs. Toddler pool, heated swimming pool, and large hot tub, with ample seating poolside. Only downside was no shade on sites, playground, or at the pool. Sand dunes, beaches, and lighthouses nearby. 4 hours north of Chicago. We'd stay here again in large part due to its cleanliness and quiet surroundings. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Visited this park over the holiday weekend. The pool and hottub were completely unusable and broken for our entire visit. When we inquired about this in the office, we were treated very rudely. Apparently, the pool has been broken quite often over the course of last summer and this summer. I even complained to the owner of the park and was treated even more offensively than from the office. The park was filled with loud parties and drinking, as well as very loud trucks revving their engines. I would not recommend this park to anyone, especially not families. It is not worth the money!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Brand new campground. All sites all full hook ups with cement pad (wide enough for rig and
picnic table). Gated entrace. Nice store, with game room and laundry facility. Close to Silver Lake dunes. Awesome pool and hot tub. Professional staff. No shaded sites. The trees were newly planted. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice park. Dirt/gravel roads make for a little dust but nothing to complain about. I was quite surprised on how quite it was, this was my first time to Silver Lake and I expected to hear loud engines from the ORV vehicles all day but that never happened. The pool was nice but to small for the amount of people using. We used the laundry room, they need a lot more machines, only 4 washers and dryers, we had to wait and wait for them to open up, our family alone took all 4 machines. Office staff was helpful but lacked any knowledge about park activities over the July 4th week. The Facebook page spoke of all kids of events planned, movies, bike/golf cart parade etc yet nobody on staff knew anything about them. We came home from dinner and sure enough we had missed the events that the staff knew nothing about, my kids were upset. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
One of the cleanest, best maintained parks that I have ever camped in. I highly recommend it! I will definitely be returning. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I had a seasonal campsite here. This was a nice camp. Wi-Fi works throughout campground. Bathrooms are nice. I just had several issues with people who would stay the weekend on the site behind me. Cutting across my site, dogs messy on my site, garbage not picked up. I would go to the office to let management address the issue, but they wouldn't. When I would talk to the people on the site about what they were doing wrong, they would complain and I would get talked to by management. When I pay $2,100 a year for a campsite, I expect to be treated with more respect by management than I was given. The owner would walk between sites at night dressed in black to ensure the seasonals "were obeying the rules and not disturbing the weekend guests". I would have liked to stay the next year due it is location to the dunes, but the owners made me feel too uncomfortable and unwanted. Just a poorly run facility. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Owners have added free WiFi; open, covered Pavilion, more showers, and laundry. Staff is very friendly, quiet hours after 11PM are enforced, and the campground is only 5 minutes from the dunes. Very family friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed over Memorial weekend. Seems like a lot of things had been renovated. The bathrooms looked brand new and were very clean, nice playground, nice pool also clean, little pond for kids to catch and release small fish was fun. Sites were decent size, gravel and relatively level, hookups were good. Store and staff were very good. Grounds patrolled at night. Quiet time was enforced strictly, which we love. Only complaint, not the fault of CG is the parade of off road vehicle that come and go through the day. Very loud vehicles and we had to continue to warn the kids to beware of cars, although it is entertaining to watch some of them go by. Also very sandy. We camped here in a Motorhome.
My family and I just stayed at this park, and I was surprised at the poor review it received. The park was one of the cleanest parks I've ever stayed in. The restrooms were most certainly five star hotel worthy. I've never seen facilities that nice for a park. The park was cleaned by staff day and night not to mention the restrooms and heated pool. Quiet hours were from 11pm to 8am, and it was nice to have a park that enforced this. This is a beautiful park, and I would highly recommend it to family and friends. The area was especially beautiful with lots to do for families. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park is nothing like it was five years ago. The new owners have put a lot of work into the park; new sites, pool, bathhouse. The staff is very friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very poor campground unless you like camping in a parking lot. The staff was rude and if you are trying to have a good time after 7pm good luck. Your small hand held radio must be at level one or two or you will be yelled at by a rude staff member (much rather deal with polite DNR). The staff is much too anal about the rules would never camp here again. The absolute only plus is full hook-ups and price... We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is the first time we have ever stayed at a state park. It was how I expected it to be. Not much other than a place to park the trailer and have a fire, nothing special. No grass, all dirty sand. We were on the other side of the road away from the lake. The rangers would do there usual walk around. Nothing more than just a presence to be seen. Within walking distance to town and attractions. Only a short drive to the sand dunes. Next time we go we will probably stay in a full service campground even though it may be $20 more a night. Very fun area! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed in site 228, in the section across the road from the lake. The campground for the weekend was full every night, very heavily used. But we were surprised at how calm it was, especially after dark. We were concerned that with all the ORVs & 4x4s, that it may be a bit rambunctious, but it was VERY quiet after dark and pretty normal during the day. The park maintains strict control over ORV use inside the campground - not allowed unless road licensed. The restrooms and showers (separate from the toilet area in separate rooms) were not spotless due to the heavy use, but fairly clean (sand is everywhere). One complaint we do have is that multiple vehicles are allowed on each site, so the access roads were very tight and crowded with all the vehicles (even beyond the ORVs) - getting some large units in and out could be a bit tough. Unit across road was very shaded, no grass, but large sites. The unit near the lake had trees but not as thick, so some grass, but sites were much tighter. You can walk to the nearby town for basic food, hamburgers, go-carts, etc. You do hear some of the noise from the road that runs between the two units - it is heavily traveled by the ORV traffic heading to the dunes. The park also has a beach & day use area, a boat launch, off-site parking for extra vehicles & trailers, and within the campground along the lake front, a nice large grassy area with benches for kids to play and to sit and watch the activity on the lake & the sunset. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice CG in a great location. CG is right on Silver Lake and the Dunes of Lake Michigan. Plenty of activities for the whole family with the lake and the dunes right there. Beautiful sunsets over Silver Lake. Our site had a great view of the lake, and was less than 200' feet from the shore. The town area is a short bike ride away, as is the lighthouse on Lake Michigan. The CG is very full in the summer, with plenty of families and kids around. We rented a pontoon boat and spent a day at the beaches by the dunes. We had a great time exploring and climing the dunes I recommend the Jeep tours on the dunes. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park! We had a site with a great view of Silver Lake (#6). The sites are close together, but it did not seem that we were on top of our neighbors. The sand dunes are the major draw at this park. There are 3 sections (commercial dune ride, hiking, and personal ORVs). Also Little Sable Point lighthouse is in the park area along Lake Michigan ($2 adult, $1 child to climb). The rest rooms were very well maintained. However the showers could have been hotter. We will be back! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Rating of excellent only if you stay across the street from Silver Lake. Those sites are shady and large. The sites in the portion of the campground that are next to the lake are small and noisy. Lots to do in town. Swim at Silver Lake or on the beach at Lake Michigan. There is a river for fishing and a lighthouse to explore. We will be going back! We camped here in a Motorhome.
There are two sections of this campground. One section on the lake and another across the road. Right across the lake from the dunes with great views. Busy campground with many off road vehicles due to the dunes. Can be noisy at times, sometimes early in the morning. All sites are shaded, some are larger than others. Little or no privacy. No alcohalic beverages are allowed. There is a nice beach at the campground or you can drive to the lighthouse where there is a fantastic beach on Lake Michigan. If you don't have your own off road vehicle you can ride the dunes via Mac Woods Dune Rides ($15) or rent dune buggies at one of the rental sites. Silver Lake is a place with lots to do putt putt golf, go carts, shops or just walking up in the dunes. Nice sunsets. We always have a great time here. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We originally planned to stay for 3 nights, extended an additional 3 nights, then added 4 more. Really enjoyed the park. They just added more sites that had 50 amp service and we had one of them. Open area where we were (too new to be on their map) and had great satellite reception. Busy on weekends but real quiet during the week. Only complaint we had was the golf carts speeding. Even the park employees were speeding. Young drivers (under 16) as well. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate is Coast-to-Coast. Roughly 80% of the sites are occupied by members fulltime. They get used mostly on weekends and holidays; thus the campground feels like a ghost town on weekdays. Roads are paved but sites are sand with some gravel, and may need substantial leveling. Showers were very good in the clubhouse but only mediocre in the other shower building. This is a very large campground and if you want to use the showers it is a long walk unless you have a site near the center. The backwoods ambiance is wonderful. Speed bumps are plentiful as there are numerous children. Pool was not open yet. There is a huge playground for the kids. Be aware that no sites have sewer connections. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Wonderful campground. This is a membership only campground. We have a seasonal site so our camper stays there year round. The sites are huge. Most sites do not back up to another site. Our site backs up to the woods and we see deer every morning walking by in the summer. It has its own private Lake Michigan beach. There is a large amount of woods with trails for hiking, biking or riding golf carts. The owners and staff are fantastic. During the summer, they host several events like a luau, kids fair and live bands. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is the Coast to Coast rate. A lovely campground with beautiful shade trees and 42' wide sites. Pool was not open. Private beach access, and change building, to Lake Michigan. Fire rings, picnic tables and playground. Laundry machines were available. Most sites are seasonal residents. Roads were paved. Sites were sand. There was a small store. We could not reach any Wi-Fi. We would have given this a 10 if the sites we paved, had sewer and they had provided notification that the water was going to be shut off 10/15. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We had the RPI rate of $8. There are several permanent residents, but the park is well maintained. We did not use most of the amenities, but used the excellent location as a base to visit Silver Lake, Pentwater, and Ludington. The site was adequate, shady, and quiet except for the heavy equipment working behind us in the daytime -- think they were creating more storage area. WiFi is available only in the office. We would definitely stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
