Beautiful campground, very peaceful and away from the big city in the north woods. Located near a lake and close to Ely Minnesota, highly recommended. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a long term stay park with several nightly spots available but call ahead. The park hosts are very friendly and the sites are large and drain well. I give the campfire a ten, but the mosquitoes are so vicious that it requires layers of deep woods OFF. The little monsters even bit right through our clothes. There are also lots of black flies and black winged bees. Whatever those are, they chased us in our canoe and on every trail. Do go canoeing though here in the Boundary Waters it was very pleasant and the other people we met along the trail were all so friendly. Minnesota has great weather in the summer and you just can't beat the laid back people and these wonderful camp hosts. There didn't seem to be much for small children to do. This is not a resort type location, but if your looking for quiet, this is your place. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice campground, great hosts! Mostly seasonals sites, so call ahead to be sure you can get in. Right next to the Birch Lake boat ramp and right across from an extensive ATV trail system. Babbitt has supermarket/post office/laundry/gas/bar. Stop at Tanks, for some good food. I would camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
There are some very nice sites here (esp #5, #7, #6, #18, #26). Campground is well maintained, firewood is inexpensive (and delivered to your site!), hookups are good, and facilities are clean (flannel curtains serve as doors to showers and toilet stalls). Roads for larger motorhomes are fine in the center loop (5, 7, 8, 21, 16). However, there is a real tight turn near site 31 that is nasty for a larger rig. Many seasonals here, but there are a dozen or so nice sites. Not a lot of activities at the campground itself. Ideal to have a quite get-away to catch up on reading! Short walk to a public beach (lots of sea gulls), park, fishing pier, etc. Their website is pretty accurate and the owners were friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.
