Good choice. Wanting to stay at the completely-full Lebanon Hills State Park, we opted to stay at quiet Dakota County Fairgrounds. "Park anywhere" said the friendly helpful campground hosts, leaving lots of room between the dozen trailers and motorhomes parked with us on this wide open field. Mature trees are growing only along the outer edges of the campground. All the campground and grass sites are level, except for a few ruts in the grass where heavy motorhomes had dug dirt during the previous week's heavy rain. Also on the fairgrounds are the old buildings moved here to make the Dakota County Historical Village. There are no showers in the clean bathrooms. Children would be welcome, but there is no children's play area. No resort amenities, but it is quiet except for the occasional train's whistle. $20 per night includes electricity, either 30 amp or 50 amp. The monthly rate is only $350, except during much of July when hundreds of trailers and people attend the crowded fair. We enjoyed our time here, and in Minneapolis, and St. Paul. We will return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Rate is for 50 amp level grass pull through with water. There are potentially hundreds of sites available but only a very few with shade. Dump station is available. Camp hosts are marvelous! No frills but a great value and we would definitely stay again. Probably want to check to see if there are events as it could get very crowded, but we enjoyed the open, quiet country atmosphere. We camped here in a Motorhome.
